Gran Turismo 4: Touge 300 and 400 class (with video walkthrough!)

I came up with a crazy idea for another class. How about Touge Vintage/Classic?

All cars have to be pre-1990(or would 1995 be easier??), and/or bought in the Historical Showroom. And because of big-power 'ringers' like the R32 Skyline GT-R and Z32 300ZX from 1989, as well as the MA70 Supra 3L that can produce well over 600hp, entrants will be limited to 300hp and Sports tires. No weight limits.

I've got tons of old school rides. My KPGC10, KPGC110, R30 and R31 Skylines need a workout, and so do my 240Zs. There are a bunch of Datsun 510s, Celicas(TA22 and 2.8L), AW11s and AE86s I could put to use too.

What do you guys think? This could broaden the field of cars used. For example, some folks like me might want to use such old school cars, but don't bother, because they know they won't really be competitive with the newer cars.
 
Ive updated the leadernoards at last and give nthem a little revamp. I havent done the 400 Leaderboard's new logo thing yyet but ill get it done soon.
 
Sorry guys but I dont think I can handle another class, But with a 200 and 300 class there will be strong competition between the 300 class classics and the modern 200 class cars. The spot race challenge at the moment just goes to show that, a few of the 300 class cars are beating some of the 400 class cars and all of the max class ones so it shouldnt be too biased when the series starts.
 
Okay. That sonds good enough then. I was just hoping for a way to get participants to use more cars that they might not ordinarily use. Get them to expand their horizons a bit, y'know?
 
yea, well, if i do a second season then I could switch the class that attracts the least interest from this season for a classic one.

Lol, im in stitches right now. GT_FAN2005 asked me if i knew of a place in our town called the rock gardens and I had to explain ot him that I know of it coz i got my own poo throw at me there. I know its gross.
 
You're going to have to do something else memorable there. Anything so that you can say you're familiar with the area for another reason.hehe

The race is still going on but I think you can only use one car per class.
 
Well I thought I did good with my 296hp MR-2 G-limited..but 1:00:328 isn't gonna cut it :)
 
is the motorsport elise allowed?

I just got a quick 54.177 but that was only my 2nd go.

BTW im running 299ps.

The accurate hp is shown if you press start in the settings screen to bring up the big hp graph, then you look for hp that is the correct vaule.

Had a good go and got 52.620 in the Touge 300 class

Ran Touge 400 with an Opera Performance S2000.
399hp, got me a 52.700
 
Looks like you got some really good runs. I'm not sure if the Opera S2000 is eligible, though. It either counts as a tuner car or a race car. If it's a race car, it might not be eligible. vtec_guy ought to know for sure, since it's his competition.
 
I've pm my time to vtec guy yet ive heard nothing, Isnt this going anymore?

And if i could make 1 suggestion, is that we cross the T1 line at a certainspeed. say 60mph or 96kph. This way it can be replicated all the time and makes for fairer times. As soon as the T1 time comes up you can floor it.
 
For the next round, how about just a full lap of Citti Di Aria?

I''ve been looking at the Nurburgring too, and maybe we could have two stages there.

Nurburgring Nordschleife Section 1: Starts at the uh...Start, and ends at the nearest checkpoint after Bergwerk, checkpoint 5.
Nurburgring Nordschleife Section 2: Starts at checkpoint 5, and ends at the uh, end.
*Note* This might seem easy for the Elite Class drivers at first. However, the section from the Karussell on will separate the men from the boys. :sly:

Ideally, we may not even have to do a full lap to get a stage time. As you watch your replay, just get the sector time at the nearest checkpoint after the end of the stage(it gives you a total, right?). I'm going to drive the 'Ring later today, and I'll be able to specify which checkpoints to watch for.

Using this format, almost the entire track is covered. However, by having it split, we can have more than just one competition at the 'Ring.

All that said, it's still just a suggestion. :)
 
Sorry guys, it is still going but its just ive been really busy recently, ill probably get the new times up by wednesday since im pretty busy up til then.

I like your ideas, small_fryz. I agree that crossing the line at a certain speed would ensure more accurate times.
 
sorry guys, ive got bad news, due to my college induction and finding an apprenticeship employer I dont have the time to continue this challenge. I can start it up again in about 3 to 4 weeks once the whole induction and employment thing is sorted out but until then im afraid I cant continue it for now.

When I get the time to start it up again ill probably just start the Togue Series that we've been planning for a while. Please keep posting rules suggestions or anything you'd like to see in the series here.

Until the new one gets started, how about a temporary Togue Showdown? I'll start a separate thread and everything.

I figure this will help everyone keep practicing until you get the real deal going again.
