Indeed, specs must be clear to everybody. maybe you should be able to change it in the options menu.

Speed: KP/H and MP/H
Acceleration: 0 - 100 kph in .....sec
50 - 120 kph in 2nd gear in ......sec
100 - 160 kph in 3rd gear in .....sec

The power and torque of an engine should be clearly displayed like in GT, A BIG GRAPH!!!

they should also display the amount of revs at max roque en the amount of revs at max power.

another funny thing would be if the fuelconsumption of that particular car whith your drivingstyle is displayed. This way you can see if you're a naturelover or a gasolineBURNER!!!

The sponsorship thing would be cool, but it would have to be generic. Specific sponsors have deals with specific manufacturers that cannot be deviated from.

I'd love to see -- and this maybe most unpopular -- a free run mode like Midnight Club 2's cruz mode. Pedestrians, traffic and if you break the law, cops. Yeah, I know that has nothing to do with racing, but damn it's fun. Especially when you can do it in a real city setting like NY or LA. The NFS Hot Pursuit modes are silly, so I'd be against nitro burning police cars and missile shooting getto birds. The spike strips are cool though. :D

Also, an add-on disc with specific types of cars is probably a reality. If you're into Trucks, Dragsters, Vintage cars... that's cool, but I'm into street legal super cars. An add-on disc would be the only way to make us all happy. Sometimes I wonder if PD isn't stretching themselves thin with the Rally Cars in GT.

More cars is a deffinite. I also agree with the paintshop idea. I also wish it had tracks other than ones modeled directly from REAL tracks, I wish PD would use their imagination and have more courses like "test Course" just a little shorter. I wish they had Mountain Courses, which were longer 1 way races, uphill Or Downhill. Like in the good game Auto Modellista. I also hope they'd have more "race model" cars such as more LM cars, I thought those were quite fun even if most of them don't exsist. I suppose that last one could fit in the catagory of "More cars"/

A street racing add on with nitriuos and body kits and stuff you can use your car in races but not the nitrous only in street races:confused:

I'm against nitrous all the way around. It doesn't have any place in circuit racing. Body kits are okay, but no matter how much customization you put into a Supra, it still aint a Porsche.

I would like to see full body kits, and a mode where you can drive around cities and challenge other cars at a drag strip like midnight club, more tracks, more cars, a skidpad so you can test grip of your car, and full telemetry like lateral g's 0-60, 0-100 and braking distances and temps and stuff of that nature

I think your ideas detract somewhat from what Gran Turismo is. It is not the fast and the furious the game, it is a RACING SIMULATOR. If you want to do that then play that shocking midnight club. However full telemetry would be cool. Not that i'd have any idea what it would mean :D .

I have some simple things to request:

ABILITY TO SELECT METRIC OR STANDARD FOR EVERYTHING I just don't want my head to hurt anymore:mad: (sorry for shouting)

Caster angle adjustability

Camber gain: amount of camber that is gained with wheel travel

Toe gain: amount of toe that is lost or gained with wheel travel

Putting on better wheels reduces unsprung weight, which would have an effect on the suspension

Documented weight distribution

Documented center of gravity

Anti-Squat adjustability

Roll center height

Tire performance curves

Accelerometer (G-meter) readouts in the analyzer, along with a better analyzer that can be better used for tuning

Anti-roll settings that inform you how weight is being distributed to the tires under cornering load

Adjustable track width

Weight reduction changes weight distribution (this would necessitate choosing weight reduction for specific parts...)

Torque and horsepower graphs that can be overlaid onto the gear tuning graph which would also have the speed of the gears a la GT1. This really helps you find the best places to shift, and knowing how the engine peaks helps driving strategy

Here's the complicated part, all of the interaction between each of these adjustments, when you adjust one element the other elements are effected as per real life geometries. And the clincher is the ability to display this information in a comprehensible way to the user. I don't think the PS2 can handle all of the interaction of the components, though I could be wrong. Another important thing would be to have car and component descriptions that don't scroll sideways (woops, missed that, now I gotta wait till it comes around again) but scroll down with the stick or D-pad. It should also be able to visually describe and inform you of how changes are effected (graphs, diagrams and such).

I know allot of this stuff sounds hardcore, but think about how much the game could teach you about car chassis dynamics, which is what I really want, a game that really teaches me and helps me understand something real. Yamauchi talked about GT bringing up a generation of prospective racing drivers, but he overlooked the opportunity to bring up a generation of car engineers, and designers. With all of this stuff it might be a good idea to have an option to simplify some of it, if only to prevent it from seeming like an engineering class to some, and make the game easier to access.

But just think about it, Gran Turismo, your first step to gaining the skills necessary to tune real cars:cool:

P.S. That's just the stuff I want for suspensions (except for the Torque HP thing which is just so easy to implement in the game I am at a loss why it isn't there), and I probably left some stuff out at that...
Sorry for this post being so long, but I never heard allot of this stuff posted before. (although I admit I haven’t read this entire thread, I'm a slow reader and can't spend the half hour to go through it all before spending a half hour writing this post. I'm slow cuz it's, huh?! 🤬 it's 4 in the morning!)

I'm glad someone agrees with me, I wasn't sure how my views would be recepted. BTW the stuff I listed there is from a chassis engineering book that I am reading.

they need to redo the invisable walls. because i dislike watching the sweet replays on GT3 then seeing the car hit a wall and it doesn't get damage or the gardrail or whatever doesn't either. it looks incredibly fake at that point. also when you hit a car they need to put into perspective that you dont bounce off of eachother. but i guess people are wanting soooo much out of such a little thing. i just wish they could pull off all the essentials. like gas, paint, suspension, toe, cam, engine failure, enging blowouts, block blowing, just little thing like engine failure. but oh well. aren't most ideas a dream...

i would like to be able to add appearance-altering parts to the cars(e.g. spoilers, side skirts and bumpers),have customizable paint-jobs(you could pics a different color for different parts of your car),be able to pick up sponsores, and have pit crews(and be able to keep hiring better ones as you get more money).

I'd like to be able to add wider wheels or change the wheel offsets because some cars like the Silvias look weird with little wheels that aren't even close to being flush with the fenders.

Well, it's a long thread, and I haven't read it all, but my main suggestions don't seem to have come up, so here goes; within the limits of reason, keeping in mind that it is still a game:

1: OIL CHANGES in the middle of a race or series! I'll take the time since I'm pitting anyway, and so will you I'm willing to bet. It's infinitely stupid - and I would hope, an oversight - on PD's part to have restricted such a thing in GT3. I can only presume Villeneuve has an oil change at least between venues... Or, what? They shoot him?

2: If I actually win the endurance race, and you're willing to give me a Miata, a Miata, a Miata, and the Senna Williams Renault F1, how about we actually get a smidgen of control over how our prize turns out? Depending who you believe about GT3, if you click while the circle is under blah blah blah... Well, it doesn't work, and even if it does, it's annoying. Why make EVERYTHING a skill contest? At the very least, award ONE prize car per series or championship - there are enough events that you don't need to award four possible prizes for each one. No point winning the same Calsonic Skyline again and again and again when you're trying to get an F1 car... Also, unless it's an F1 car, how about unlocking it at the dealership once it's won?

3: Allow us to sort cars in our garage, for those anal-retentives among us. Make 'Order Acquired' view an option, and instead permit manual sorting. I personally got tired of having to hunt around for stuff all the time, which is only marginally more irritating than what I'm doing now, e.g.: going through the entire series in a particular order so that my garage can make some sort of concise sense - i.e.: all NSX's together, that sort of thing. While we're at it, how about some sort of standard for the naming of cars, whereby all NSX's names will begin with "NSX"? Therefore, you'll have NSX, NSX, NSX Type R, NSX Type S-Zero, NSX; Raybrig, NSX; Honda Arta JGTC, NSX; Castrol Mugen JGTC... It makes more sense, methinks...

I'm now at day 885 from doing Seattle Enduro over and over just so I can get another ZZII in the right spot...

4: By all accounts, advances in tire technology have been staggering in just the last two years or so, permitting compounds far more durable and yet stickier than ever before, even compared to back when GT3 came out. Implement some of this for accuracy and improved gameplay. I have no qualms with wearing super-sticky rubber if it still performs factually.

5: Yeah, keep the F1 cars, please and by all means, but it's true Drag Racing and other alternate forms can be cool.

6: Hey, how about give us the BLUE FLAME for 100% completion?

7: Don't make Arcade Mode a prerequisite for 100%. Why bother? It's fun to play Arcade, but forcing the issue is irritating.

8: Bonneville Salt Flats for top speed testing. It irks me to see my Viper trying to make it to 275 MPH but running out of track before it can get there, despite climbing steadily.

9: MORE NSX'S!!! Concepts, LMs, CARBON FIBER HOODS! Yeah! My personal fave!

The idea of having new aerodynamic parts that affect the weight of the car, and thus the weight distribution, is a crackin' idea, plus the idea that changing the wheels (inc. sizes etc) affects the weight of the car, but more importantly the unsprung weight in the game (oh yea, do the same for tyres) also kicks ass, cos that way your car can be even more unique than before.

Perhaps this should replace "racing mods", or perhaps have racing mods as an option to add all of the aerodynamic parts and the wheels from a manufacturer/sponser, as well as being able to buy the parts individually...

i dont think this has been posted Before but thats one of the thing i really care about

BETTER TIRE SMOKE!!!!!!

ah come on...whne I do a burnout in my mustang i come up with jsut like ...oh well u know wut I mean?

I have always wanted to see , and hear ........

Waste gate chatter , instead of the dodgy dumpvalve noise .

A nice little flame from the exhaust when you downshift at high revs .

Interchangeable body kits

create your own race logo and paste onto car ( mine would have to be a pair of tits lol )

wheel size and style selection ( along with tyre pressure's )

return of boost pressure adjustment

a nice little notch sound as you change gear ( rage racer stylee ) on non race cars

brake dust from wheels when slowing , & flames from pads

and a proper bonnet view ( with bonnet ) like TOCA !!

engine failiure's - if car over revved too much

Maybe some of these are possible , just think it would add to the realism a little

I'm not sure if anyone's already said anything like this or not, but I'd like for GT4's online mode to kick forza's online mode's ass. And there's a good way they can do that. One thing PD could do is structure the online mode as if it were it's own game, with the offline version's physics and graphics and control and all. You'd be able to unlock cars in the offline version, and then be able to upload those cars into the online version. You'd be able to race on a team (say, 6 racers each), and compete in certian racing events depending on the class you're racing in (ex. sedans, muscle, sports, convertibles, supercars, f1 cars, etc.).

Even cooler, you'd have to race together as a team, supplying each other with spare parts and cash whenever you were in a race (be it in ones were one member would race for the sake of the whole team, or all the racers would race for their team, or anything in between). You'd also be able to win collective money together, and then be able to keep your team in good racing shape and buy special exclusive cars and stuff only available online, and race them online and/or download them to the offline version via the hard drive. Also, if PD manages to model car damage in the game, they could make that a vital focal point in the online version, where in the case one team member ever happened to completely wreck their car to the point they wouldn't be able to race, they could have another team member take their place. That would be killer.

i want the "Hochleistungsmodifikationen"(german) back
i think you call it highperformancemodifications or racemod or something...
what i mean is the option to build a race car (for 85.000 bucks) out of every car(gt1) or the most cars(gt2) in the game. it was great, and i missed it in gt3

A lot of the suggestions I see are nice, but some are kind of bad, in my opinion.

The biggest thing I see is customizable body kits. In my opinion, this would take up too much memory and would be wasted on "ricing." Most body kits nowadays are strictly aesthetic and throw aerodynamics right out the window. This is a racing simulator. The "Racing Modification" would be okay, as that focuses on racing, but customizable kits would land us in Need For Speed: Underground territory.

I totally agree with further chassis adjustments and engine tuning. Better sounds, too. My goodness, we need some edgey, rattly, poppy exhaust sounds. Not the different tones of a vacuum in GT3.

Allow me to add my own stupid idea, though...

A two lane straight xx kilometer strip, allowing for full top speed experimentation and drag racing. NOW. Here's the fun part. At the end of this long strip, is an abrupt hill, rocketing both cars into the air to land in a giant XXX by XXX grid of cones, scattering them everywhere upon completion of the course. That would rule....

Oh man, got so many ideas I want in there.....

Fuel gauge (gas refills in race) Temp gauge (be able to overheat, say if you push a weak or old car uphill too hard)

Have the gauges of the actual car there ( no more generic tach and speedo, although they look nice) IF I have a Silvia, I wanna see Silvia gauges.

Transmission accuracy. I mean, most newer model Mercedes Benz cars don't come with Manual. So why not make that true? You should only be able to pick a transmission if the car comes with both in real life

Different types of blow-off valves. On different levels of tuning your car, you hear a different BOV. Or you could just choose which BOV you'd buy.

Pick the size of your rims. I wanted bigger rims on my Hachi-Roku (AE86), but in GT3 you took whatever size the car came off the lot in. pick their color, be able to powder coat them, or chrome them. Those watanabes better be in there....

Carbon Fiber. I want CF hoods. CF trunklids. CF wings. CF over fenders. Hell, be able to make your car's body out of carbon fiber. You should be able to paint the CF too if you don't want a whole carbon fiber colored car.

Rim selection. Bigger selection, and when you buy them, they should be automatically sorted when they go into your collection. Sort them by spokes, color, weight, etc.

Front clip exchages. Like I should be able to make a Silvia an Sil-Eighty, or make it a One-Via. Or Levin fron bumper with Trueno rear and body.

Blinker color changes. I wanna be able to change those nasty orange taillight blinkers/reflectors for some nice smoked black ones.

Exhuast changes. Give us the power to change the look, color, and sound of our mufflers. When you choose which one you want, you should be able to listen to what it would sound like on your specific car. Have real exhaust brands like 5Zigen, and Fujitsubo.

Choose between Supercharger and turbo. It'd be nice to have a choice whether a want a boosted or blown car.

Tuned rom. I know they have it, but you should be able to set at which RPM the fuel cut-off comes in. (I love to over rev sometimes to listen to the engine :) )

Backfire. I want backfire. Big, loud, flashy, cool backfire. Like, twin belches of flame when you downshift.

Special engines. Like the AE101 TRD for the AE86, Engine swaps, RB26DETT (skyline engine) into a 180SX.

Rotary engine sounds. I know it sounds real already, but if I can hear that sexy whine of a rotary engine I swear I'll squeal like a little girl.

custom color. I wanna make a color sheme I want, on a specific car. After I buy my car, I can still pick my color.

Online options. Be able to have team logos. Be able to choose limitations for the race. Such as nothing over 250hp or no super soft tires.

More AI cars. I want more cars out on the track. Smarter ones too.

Mountain passes. I want Pikes peak in there. I want some sort of touge there. What's the fun in a AE86 without a mt. pass?

Weather. I know it's in there, but I'll still say it. I want to pick the season, time of day, weather, damp ( post rain) or dry (no rain) roads, snow roads. Weather changes on the fly, meaning during a race.

Better looking garage. I wanna be able to walk around my babies and ogle at their sexiness. I want to be able to pick what KIND of garage. Whether an indoor carousel, or parking lot garage.

More pronounced engine sounds. I just bought my 360 Modena, I better be able to hear it well, or I'll cry  . Be able to set each sound differently. Like stronger engine sound and weaker music or tire sounds.

Cooler car wash. I wanna SEE my sweetie gettin drenched and soaped down (sound nasty huh? ) I wanna see my car get dirty too.

Tire marks. I bought a turbo, I know I can spin those Nike's on my cars paws but I wanna see two, or four (4WD) tire marks to proudly show everyone else.

Body kits. NO RICER KITS. Some nice, subtle changes like the TRD wing on the AE86, or a slightly lower side skirts.

Wide body. If I got an RX7, I want that Mazdaspeed wide body on there. Nothing like, 80 feet wide, but give my car some muscular bulges on the side, make it look tougher, more intimidating.

Better tire effects. I love hearin tires scream. Make more sounds.

Better music. GT3 was okay, but most the songs I turned off. Rap is DEFINITELY NOT race music. Good as normal music, but not RACE music. I do NOT wanna hear Xzhibit's songs while drivin on the Nurb'. Some nice Eurobeat (initial D ;) ), techno, rock (but no NOFX or Korn), somethin fast paced that makes ya wanna run that car to it's absolute limits.

Evolution III. I want that Evo there. It's my favorite, and once again I'll cry if it doesn't make it in.

Custom decals. If I have a drift/ race team on GT4, I want my decal to be proudly shown. Place it where I want, how big I want, what color, etc.

Debadging. I wanna take the name badges off my car, it makes it look cleaner. Sometimes you can't tell if it's the fast or slow version of a car. Anybody say "sleeper"?

Realistic TCS ASM placement. Since when could you buy a Trueno with TCS and ASM? Make it standard for cars that come with it, make it an upgrade for cars without it. Buy it for like 1 grand each. Or for beginners, free.

Interchangeable stock rims. If I see rims on a stock car that I want on MY car, I should be able to buy/swap/switch them once I get the other car.

Lights on/off. I say the select button should toggle your headlights/tailights on off. Whether in the day or not, I love seeing my pop-up headlights. I wanna be able to change headlight colors too. Be able to change headlight looks/eyebrows too.

Reverse lights. When I back up, I wanna see those light up. How hard could that be to put it in?

Interior views. I know, it'll take up too much space on the DVD-ROM so it ain't goin it, not in GT4, at least. But sometimes, I would love to be inside that dream car.

Showrooms. I want the car shops to be kinda like a showroom. A huge dealer warehouse(s) . Test drives.....maybe. I might be in there forver with those Ferraris in the start of the game ;)

Torque steer. Front drive cars have it without an LSD, so I want it in there. It'll make it more fun to drive that 80's Accord with that logitech wheel.

Sorry if the list is really long. I had so many ideas burst out at once. I still have more, when they come to mind I'll list em ;)

very good ideas, but a couple are already in the works 👍

"Fuel gauge (gas refills in race) Temp gauge (be able to overheat, say if you push a weak or old car uphill too hard)"

GT4P has a gas guage, so there should be some kind of fuel consumption/refill system in GT4.

"Better looking garage. I wanna be able to walk around my babies and ogle at their sexiness. I want to be able to pick what KIND of garage. Whether an indoor carousel, or parking lot garage."

PD already said there will be a showroom where you can show off your cars {if i remember right online} so people can check out your ride.

"custom color. I wanna make a color sheme I want, on a specific car. After I buy my car, I can still pick my color."

there will be a paint booth in GT4, but there are no specs on what is involved with it.

"Backfire. I want backfire. Big, loud, flashy, cool backfire. Like, twin belches of flame when you downshift."

and finnaly the backfire, here is a pic that should make your dreams come true {as far as backfire goes} 👍

Well it's more than enough to make me drool ;) Oh yeah, and I really hope we can SORT OUT our cars and KEEP IT THAT WAY. Friggin' GT3 had a sucky garage arrangement.
