Howabout....

-More wear. Make the race cars very expensive to maintain like in real life, so I will have something to spend my $20,000,000 on.

-More cars (DUH!)

-More tracks (duh!)

-Better AI

-More tuning options

-More upgrade options

-Actually get all the specs for the cars right for once

RACING MOD!!!!!!!!!!!

...and more cars, not just regular cars (although I'd like a good amount of those too :) ), but cars you've never seen, special cars, like maybe a go-kart, tuner's cars from other manufacturers a la Nismo, but I want special one-off designs, or at least something that looks cool, not just another car that looks exactly like a regular Skyline, but has 100 more hp and a new wing so it's called Greg's Skyline Type-33EB Motorsport Edition, no, I'm talking LMs, Concepts, Racers, maybe a couple more F1s, limited edition rally cars that no one has ever heard of. You get my drift :) .

Maybe some smaller open wheelers, like an F3000, an F3 or an FFord?

A proper racing kart would be cool - but you'd need a proper small track for it.

I hear they're making variable weather for all tracks in the next one, and I want more customizability, like in 2 where you could get race paint and stuff, and drivers that you can see well, and maybe you could customize them, too. More race cars is a good idea, too^

vat_man Maybe some smaller open wheelers, like an F3000, an F3 or an FFord?

Formula Ford Would be cool, and Formula 3000.

Imagine driving a go kart around Laguna Seca?
Youd probably get round quicker than a toyota Pod anyway :D

I thinkyou should be able to add spoilers and upgrades you can see.also like on some games you can creat a team,i want to be able to create, pit teams, tracks, and cars. One last thing, be able to go 100+ in pit zone. :D

this is my list:
~Non guided pit stops: you have to drive and stop in your area, and your pit crewcomes out with jacks, tires, gas can, and other tools needed.
~Snow
~tire blow outs, run out of gas, car over heating, all can be turned on or off.
~adjustable turbo boost
~If they wanted realism to the max, have to drive to the dealerships, parts stores, and oil changes, and of couse the tracks. Make a city, you have a warehouse for your cars, and you can race around your city or go to the tracks. Include traffic, cops, people, and weather. And potholes, speed bumps, and curbs. Have the ability to steal other people's car and keep them/sup them up if the cops don't get to you. Have a house that you can fix up/sell and buy new and bigger houses.

I don't know about that last thing...

#1 Everything as an option.

Then my list of wants ...

The pit action leaves a lot to be desired. Things like gas and a dirty windshield should be taken into account. I'm for a guided pit stop, because you could use the time from entering the pit to making the stop to set up what they're going to do to your car. What tires they change, if they do gas ... that sort of stuff. Maybe even adjustments on the car if you have it modified for 'in race adjustments'.

I'm pumped about the variable weather. If they actually do it, it can be really nice.

I see Grand Theft Auto III aint good enough for you;)

I dont really care for animated pit crews much. It would be nice, but games that do have them seem to be lacking in the graphics dept., so Im asuming it uses alot of resources.

Some other things I left out are incar views, actual dirt buildup on your car (see RalliSport Challenge for a great example), tire pressure adjustment, full freedom of movement on the cars (aka be able to flip over), freedom to go wherever in free run mode (I know Im not the only one who has wanted to drive my Imprenza down onto the beach in Tahiti, and splash around in the surf, or squeeze out of the barrier on Tokyo and take a drive through downtown, or run over the crowd at Swiss Alps 😈 ), more authentic rally tracks, make the TCS and ASM have to be purchased again, freedom to use any tire you wish on any track you wish in free run mode (1350hp GT-One with hard slicks on ice... ), engine overheating if the oil isnt tended to, and any more of those subtle touches that only the boys at Polyphony could think of:)

nuff ideas have been sade so I don't know if this would be right how about the ability to create your own kit car from the start kinda like that dreamcast game gt something ? but with more depth in the design this would also be a good way for manufactures to get an idea on the cars that we like to drive also I would like them to bring back the states cups because they work jokes and I loved my stagea so much more than my skyline also I would like to see volvo and yes even skoda be apart of gt 4 also the most bait and obvious part we gotta get this game online NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well, here is my 2 cents (keep the change)

I would really like to see a drag mode. Polyphony teased us in GT2 with those sweet drag cars (but remember that they were only good for the test course). DVD-ROM has boatloads of room, to include some more tracks for some drag cars and some drag tracks (straight line 1/4 mile jobbers)

It was nice to have the formula cars in GT3, but lets come full circle. Everyone likes a good drag race. And I definately want to see the bleach pit....anyway , theres that little dream.

thanks

 I mostly want to see the Racing Modification come back. I miss that from GT2.

How about a bonus DVD with a "Making of..." documentary on it? Like the European release of MGS2...:D

Seriously, I like to see the return of the Race Mod for all the cars, the return of the Used Car lots and some improved AI.

Data transfer between the GT series games. I'll be honked off BIG TIME if I can't use any of the cars or my liscences form GT3 in GT4. Matter of fact, I'd like to see the GT2 cars at least available to buy or win in GT4. :)

The transfer is hard if not impossible to do because all of the GTs are different physics and graphics, so it won't happen. Licences could happen though.

1. A Paintshop
2. Take out all of the tracks and then you have to build at least 15 forward and reverse circuts. ;) 😈

i think, (being realistic to the capabilities of the PS2) there are quite a few things to do:

1. Piss off the manufacturers who wont join until they join (eg. Volvo, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McCLAREN)
2. I would like a pit lane which looks better and more realistic (I dont want people as it is very hard to make them realistic and after all it is a racing game) which you can control the car inb and make changes to your settings (but takes more time).
3. Tyre marks (how hard can it be)
4. Used cars for all manufacturers + racing mods (customisable?)
5. Ability to win cars in any championship as many times as you want (I wanted more Vanquish's)
6. Date schedule for championships (each could come up every month or so (game time))
7. Failures (like punctures, but not car failures completely cos that will piss you off in the end)
8. Flags and the other cars crash and spin sometimes
9. You can push AI cars into a spin more easily (come on Polyphony, look at Toca 2). we all know that it is easy to spin another car so lets include it (same goes for AI cars hitting AI cars)
10. Car maintanance costs

I think thats it... :D

Anything is possible. ;) Although it would make more sense for them to just bring the cars back into the game. :) Five years ago, GT3 was impossible...

I'd like more night tracks and to see variable weather.
I'd also like to see the time of day/night change in the endurance races.
More cars on a grid might be good.
Better AI.
Fewer typos.

And, if you get 100% or meet some other goal, Sony buys you a real version of the car in your game with the most miles. Well, ok, maybe the production car in your game with the most miles. They can afford it, I think. But only if you didn't do something like use F1 cars in every race you could. That'd be nice. I'd have an NSX.

This is actually in response to danpollard

I had the entire message quoted, but it was quite huge.

1) I don't know about pissin' off the manufacturers. I sort of doubt that would fly. I'm surprised to not see Volvo in there though - doesn't Ford own them now? You would have thought that Ford would green light the project for all their divisions. (Maybe not Land Rover...)

2) I don't care about the detail of the pit lane (if you were referring to graphically) - however, the ability to make some limited setting changes would be nice - downforce and such.

3) Tire marks - <shrug> While it is fun to supe up a Cobra, put sim tires on it and do burn outs, I'm not sure that there'd be a big improvement from doing so. (but it is a riot) lol

4) Used cars and Racing Mods - For sure... hehehe - And, better yet, if manufacturers would ever agree to show damage, you could even buy a complete beater - rust, dings... :) No real point to this, it would just add more realism - Hey, if you've got a lot of rusted through spots on your car, it's lighter - less sheet metal <pointing to the rusted out Hyundai Excel in the parking lot> It's a speed demon.

5) Winning the same care many o' times - The biggest problem with this is, it becomes too easy to make $$. There wasn't nearly as much of a challenge in GT2 when you could run just one single race (if I remember correctly) and win a car. The only way to combat that is, the first car you win is worth X, and subsequent wins decrease in value by 75% or some number they come up with.

6) Date schedule - Hmmm... This would add to the "sim-iness" (that's a new word I just made up) of it but wouldn't improve the gameplay (atleast in any way I can figure). I wouldn't particularily care.

7) Tire blow outs - for sure - This would keep you honest in the endurance races - no more "drive with your tires red indefinately"

8) Flags - Ahh... I'm not sold on it - but I s'pose I don't need to be. Pardon my ignorance, but isn't it pretty much just Nascar that uses the flags? Does the GT Series? (I just started getting into watchin' the GT races when Speedvision/channel changed to the Nascar channel). From what I've seen, if you spin your car, everyone else just does whatever possible to avoid 'em.

9) Spins - Yes, spinning should be more prevalent... One thing - and I dunno how possible this would be - If the PS2 is bright enough to know if you hammer someone on purpose, with the sole intention of spinnin' them should a) disqualify you from the race or b) fine you. (or both). Spins should happen by accident, but not intentionally.

10) Car maintenance wouldn't be a factor unless the manufacturers agree to allow damage.

How about making prize cars available for purchase after it is won? i.e. "unlocked".

Yes. Intentional accidents should have repercussions. This would make clean passing an actual goal, and cut down on the amount of wins you get from going banzai into a corner and using the computer cars as a rail to keep you from losing it.

It shouldn't be a factor anyways IMHO. I get enough maintenance on my real cars. Washing and changing oil on a video game? Lose the car wash and oil changes, and give me my 1st generation RX-7 back. ;) And while your at it, lose the flash bulbs in the audience and the Vitz too. I can't believe they included the Vitz and the Trueno, but left off the 1st gen RX-7. Yes, I am STILL in shock over this, and no, I WON'T get over it until (hopefully) GT4 comes out. :D

Sorry, I hacked away at your quote there. :)

Anyways, uhh... that's a good point - if the prize cars were unlocked after you won one, that'd work for me. Someone suggested before (can't recall who) that you should be able to buy any car you wish after X point in the game - which isn't a bad idea. 'cause honestly, at some point in the game, money loses all value - You just don't need it - while I'm not a collector of cars (I don't need every color of F1) for those who do what that should be able to get it.

lol - don't take away my ability to ride the AI rail around corners! hehehe - I admittedly don't have the time to invest to get good at the game. I will use whatever edge I can to win. That being said - "Rubbing is racing" - however, if you get under someone's corner to spin 'em intentionally (I'm not sure how this would be judged) then you should be penilized for it.

Lose the flash bulbs? hahaha - I love the flash bulbs. :) Comin' flying along one of the sections in one of the rally games (wow - I would love to actually have a memory) and the bulbs are going off? hehehe - I grin everytime.

I also don't agree with ditchin' the Tuereno (sp?) or the Vitz. I myself don't like either car, however, there are too many Vitz and Tureno (I tried a different way of spelling it and it still looks wrong) fans to discount them completely. From what I gather, the Vitz (Yaritz?) is incredibly popular in places where you only have a parking spot that is about 4 feet long... Since the game is developed in Japan, it only makes sense that they'd include the car that the average Joe would be driving. Even if I myself think it's a huge POS.

Ya man... the RX-7 is a shame though. hehehe

I'd like to see the extra BS races dropped from the game. Why do we have to do the single race sessions in Arcade mode to hit 100% This was the section of the game where I abused my F094.

On a helpful note, I'd like to be able to pick the 5 AI that I race against. PD could introduce a section of the "Free Run" where I could choose which cars to put in. Then each car should have a few "Customize" options. tires, turbos, maybe just set the HP. I can test my stock A4 against an A4 that has a stage 1 turbo...

The idea of "Unlocking" cars as you complete races is a good thing. Why is it that I've beaten the TVR challenge twice but I still have to race if I want another Speed 12? The F1's stay as random give away's on endurance only, then once you have completed all the Pro races (except F1) you can purchase the F1 of your choice.

At the start of the game, you are racing to earn cash. Middle of the game, you are racing for golds. Near the end you start racing for to complete the steps. PD needs some help in the last 75% of this game.

my 2 cents.

Till later,
AO

I would like an extra "Expert Leauge" after completing the Beginner, Amateur, and Professional Leagues. They could have it be unlocked after completing the other 3 leagues, or they could make it on a whole separate disc where it would be a game of its own. It would be for the most expert of drivers, where the AI is extremely difficult and aggressive (basically about the difficulty of getting all golds on the license tests, or a bit harder perhaps). I'm talking about blocking, forcing their way to the inside, taking advantage of nearly every mistake you make. And if you think you could just bounce off the other cars to get to the front, they could incorporate that "Emotion Engine" feature that they promised before the release of the game were the AI would retalliate to your wreckless driving. However, they wouldn't race perfect, as they too could make mistakes (but not usually) that can be taken advantage of by either you or the other computer drivers. For isntance, if you were in the lead and the car behind you is driving like a madman to get in front, they could dive to the inside of a tight corner, slam on the brakes late resulting in them skidding off the road and into a gravel trap. It would basically be just races for bragging rights that award a good sum of money, but wouldn't go towards completion percentage. The cars would be as closely matched as possible to the one you are using. Also in this mode, a number of things would change, such as having to manually drive your car down the pit lane while obeying the speed limit (and getting a penalty if you exceed the speed limit), being forced to drive with a manual transmission with cars that only have a manual transmission available (and being forced to drive an automatic for cars that only come with an automatic), having to hold the brake (or put the car in neutral) while at the starting grid before the beginning of a race and suffering a penalty for jumping the start, tires blowing if they are run for too long, among other things that I can't think of right now. Your car would get internally damaged from collisions with other cars/walls/rails, and the degree of damage and what part of the car was damaged would depend on the intensity of the collision and where the car hit. Internal damage would affect car performance, so not only would you have to race aggressively, but you would have to keep it clean as well. There would be repair bills, that is, if you choose to repair your car, to pay for the parts damaged and entrance fees for a number of races.

Aside from that, I would like them to bring back the Event Generator from GT2, except it would be more in-depth in GT4. You could have total customization, from the number of cars in the field, to what track the event is being raced on, how many races are in the event, what time of day and what type of weather will be in each race, horsepower limits and tuning limits, the ability to choose exactly what car(s) you will be racing against and their level of difficulty, exactly what modifications the car(s) will have, to the number of laps each race will have.
