What could the customization refer to?

I guess the big question is whether cars like that Tuscan are peeks at what we can do ourselves, or whether they'll just be sprinkled around GT5 as pre-made "tuned cars", available for purchase, as in Prologue.

How are spoilers any different from GT4?

Well, they will probably be high-res this time ;)

And I also do not think they'll be limited to P models only, there is not one single reason why S models couldn't get spoilers, rims, exhausts, etc.

And as Tuscan is concerned, it is clearly a model from "Concept by GT" venue, formerly known as "Dream Cars".

Exactly My thoughts, Stadard Models can get everything Except Bodykits, different Body Panels; but Splitters, Spoilers, rims, canards, exhausts are surely to be in for Standards.

It really wouldn't hurt to allow more unique cars, especially with online being in the game from Day 1.

Even if you don't have a livery editor, a custom paint-wheel and body styling would allow more unique competitors.

Standard cars will probably get the same level exterior customization as they did in GT4. Maybe they'll add front splitters. I didn't mean standard cars won't get anything.
Exhausts, I doubt it.

Even simple skirts at the bottom of all sides shouldn't be too hard to do.
Plus user selectable wing position

With all the procedural style coding being done these days, you don't have to model parts specifically for every car now

I don't see exhausts being changeable because it means going through the old models and making sure the exhaust is a seperate part of the model, like the wheels and wings. Plus any car that has a rear bumper made to integrate with the stock exhaust would end up with some issues...

Hmm, I hadn't thought of that; that the make-up of the standard cars might preclude them from customisation. I hope not.

Did anyone read the link? Prologues feature list included customization (aka the quick tune menu).

Read the features list for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. You may be disappointed.

Customization -- Tune your car performance to shave precious seconds off your lap times. Adjust each car’s suspension and tires for improved handling, and boost performance with gear ratio and engine modifications to harness every bit of horsepower under the hood.

I don't get what your trying to say here If you are linking this towards GT5 customization i don't know how.

It sounds like he's saying gt5p customization=GT5 customization. At least that's how it sounds to me. I don't know why he's saying it, as we have the TVR tuned car as well as all the tuned cars in GT5P that hint, very very strongly, at visual modifications beyond what GT4 offered.

👍 No doubt.

The problem is, if each person's tuned cars look the same then, what's the point? :)

I hope there will be more user interactivity with regards to the parts and where they are placed.

I don't agree with the first part. In the real world you don't have an unlimited amount of choices when it comes to visual aero parts, or even turbos, intakes, exhausts. Pretty much anything produced in quantity. You still have tons of cars that look similar simply because there might be a part or two that they share. Unless you have custom, one off parts, chances are very good that someone down the street has a part or 2 on their cars that can be found on yours. Mixing and matching doesn't always work as not all bumpers go with certain skirts or wheels.

How can you put a front bumper, or fender, or hood, anywhere but where they belong? Each car will have a set of parts that fit on the car, like forza most likely, so you can mix and match skirts, and bumpers and wings and fenders and whatever else. There is no part creator, most likely, so I'm not sure how you would choose where a part goes, unless you're talking about fake hood scoops or stickers. I'm almost positive we'll be able to paint wheels, and maybe even calipers.

To be honest i think that the Concepts By GT are teasers showing us what we can customize and the sorts of cars we can create in GT5, probably not true, but thats my theory :)

Well maybe being able to change the thickness, size, height etc of parts
Part editor would be awesome!

And then sell them online :)

Sony's Play, Create, Share mantra in effect :sly:

If Modnation Racers can do it, so can GT5!

I know you're just being silly with that one.

What It means is that PD's idea of customization is tuning. If PD labels tuning as customization, what makes you think GT5 will have more in depth customization if PD says that Prologue had it.

Yes in that description but i don't know how you say "what makes you think GT5 will have more in depth customization if PD says that Prologue had it." When GT5P is a Prologue Its a taste on what is to come in GT5, Even GT4 had more customization than GT5P. Your argument is a little weak no offense, I'm pretty sure were are going to get some good customization In GT5

Man i hope we get to customize our drivers I was watching some trailers and saw Dale with the white adidas gloves  I love how GT has real after market parts From different helmets, gloves, racing suits, racing belts etc. I am really pumped to see what customization GT5 will offer.

Agree, teasers of what we can do to most if not all PREMIUM cars.

Hopefully GT5 is not as segregated as we think (at least in terms of customizing)

I know it seems only 200 cars have cockpits or headtracking compatibility and the ability to roll over and the ability to take REAL damage. But damn, 800+ cars without the ability to customize= Huge segregation.

Well the standards can roll over also, but I'm hoping we get a livery and some small body upgrades like splitters etc. 👍

I don't think we've seen a standard ride roll over. Their undercarriages are not modeled. Good reason why.

In a real race a car may roll over under unexpected events such as during a violent crash, when bumps on the road are hit at very high speeds, or if a car’s orientation is not right during a jump. Just as in real races, in Gran Turismo 5 cars can roll over as well, adding a new level of excitement to the game.

* Damage is not necessarily applied to all races in the game.

We really haven't seen anything on standard cars. This is what is say on the web site. From that i get all cars will role over.

I would consider that to be tuning not customization. Customization could be considered more of a personalization kind of thing IE: visual changes.
