Yeah I agree with not releasing a car list. I don't mind knowing what new manufacturer licenses they have gained, but I want to discover some cars in the game myself. Also another thing to throw around is that, if we can customize our cars far more in this game, wouldn't it be cool if some of the AI drivers also drove some customised cars of their own?I don't think I've seen this in a proper sim racing game before and I always thought it would be quite cool to race other suped up cars.

That's a good idea. Would be neat to see. But after a while, you'd get sick of seeing the same liveries.

But that's what online is for. We'll see a diverse range of liveries. Some will shame the game, and some will be contribute to it. That's life, though.

As for the date, agreed@ all. E3 must be it. It's a big event for Sony. Honestly hoping for a pre-October date.

Sony should do an Apple-esk release date announcement of July 1st of something. There's nothing cooler than when Steve Jobs says "...and it's available from the Apple Store today".

Granted, maybe Sony couldn't pull that kind of stunt without people being tipped off, but a month away, instead of 4 or 5 would be really cool.

A few people remarked on how much they want a discreet Career Mode, separate from GT and Arcade Mode. I've been lobbying for this off and on since 2005. In fact, I want a separate Season Mode which deals with one type of racing, such as WRC, DTM, ALMS, BTCC, NASCAR etc. And I'm hoping that the online tools allow people - and SONY too - to establish online seasons so that people can race for a championship. Career Mode would be insanely deep, because it would begin you from the very bottom of the ladder, involved in enthusiast events to start. Then you progress into semi/pro groups like America's SCCA. And from there, you choose a career in whatever style of racing you like for one season, or several. And should you wish, you could change careers into other leagues next season. If you wanted a Gran Turismo game which would never get old, this would be it. And with 1000 or so cars involved, there should be no shortage of vehicles for different racing leagues.

I do like the sandbox semi-open style of Gran Turismo of old, but I really want to see it incorporate this professional aspect of real world motorsports. How would you ever get tired of it?

It has to be E3. i Just noticed on the US gt website they listed it as a 2010 release so if it's going to release in the states this year we're going to need some info soon.

Yeah I think this would be a pretty cool idea. The only thing that may annoy some people is when your stuck racing certain cars which you don't neccessarily like. I'm not saying that would happen to me, but I can imagine a few people may get annoyed by this. And yes I know there were events in previous GT games where you had to drive cars you may not like, but atleast then you had the choice of just not doing that event.

I don't see this happening in Season or Career Modes. In Season Mode, suppose you decide rather than WRS, you really wanted to do a season of F1. Well, Quit/Delete the season and start over.

In Career Mode, you'd have to start at the bottom, but you'd be selecting a beginner car like you do in GT Mode. A Japanese car like a 240SX hatch, an American car like a basic Mustang, a German car like a Golf GTi, or whatever. In semi/pro mode, you'd be racing in a certain class of your choosing. In America's SCCA, there are several classes of racing from the Miata Cup up to Corvettes and Vipers. And of course in the professional leagues, you pick a car in the league you want, from WRC to Formula 1. And (hopefully) in all of these stages as well as Season Mode, a livery shop where you can have a template to "paint by number" with to make a livery, or create one from scratch, and giving you sponsor decals to apply as you progress.

While this wouldn't be for everyone, it's the same deal for those of us who don't like drifting or have time for an endurance race. But for the enthusiasts, I don't think there would be anything in this they wouldn't like. In fact, I'm sure they'd go crazy over it, with hundreds of Photo Mode pics and replay saves to chronicle their careers.

Aren't you guys forgetting about the video game show in Europe this summer and the fall TGS? E3 2010 will only have a piece of the puzzle. This summer we'll get more and to borrow a quote from Famine....

"...Not to steal any thunder from the TGS..."

The real new(s) will come then.

E3 2010 for me. A quick glimpse of Grand Valley

Well, it's either a blowout at E3, or a teaser at E3 and a blowout at TGS. 50:50 guesswork, and whatever happens I'm sure people will go "yay, I predicted that" despite the odds.

This is of course assuming a 2010 release, which is no guarantee.

TGS is a show in decline, so I'd be mighty surprised if the blowout happened there. It has to be at E3. Sony need their big guns this year, what with MS threatening to steal all the hype with Natal.

Sony is not saving their 3D Tv campaign for TGS. They're silly to begin a GT5 campaign then, too. June is the right time, as it marks the middle of the year. If 2010 is GT5's release year, then the release date should be given out at E3.

TGS, if it contains anything GT5, will provide another trailer, and perhaps a final final final demo. This is my firm belief.

Well i think the best thing they could do to cater for everybody is have both a GT mode and a career mode. But I can't imagine that would happen. I probably prefer the sound of the career mode just as long as there are enough seasons that we can still try out loads of the cars.

There doesn't seem to be much hype for a system that seems to be nothing but hype. Almost no games are said to be using it, and there's hardly any chatter about it on the net. Obviously Microsoft loves it, but then, Nintendo loved the Virtual Boy too... :sly:

Well, Career Mode would never end, just as GT Mode never ends in any of the Gran Turismo. Just as in real life, you either end the season winning the championship or not, and then pick up with the next season trying to win it again, or switch leagues to try something new. And in Season Mode, which would be available at the same time, you could do something else.

I'd think that in Arcade Mode, you could grab a huge number of cars and use a few races to decide if you wanted to pursue a career or season with one of them. And heck, with Arcade and GT Mode both being available also, there would be ample opportunity to take a break from a season or career, and just do something fun. I can imagine that if I did a season of F1, I'd want to take a break from racing at sonic speeds to do something a little more laid back with a Super GT car or tuner for a while.

Since in TGS there was a demo with the Tokyo track its fair to assume that e3 will have a Nascar demo(if there is any)

I think it's more fair to assume that nothing is safe to assume.

E3 2009 was NASCAR's big debut, so I have a hard time believing it will be given as much time in the trailer, (though it should be given some time), ss E3 takes place in the U.S.A.... I am more inclined to seeing a trailer that secretly or blatantly attacks the fans' doubts. A simple example is to show falling rain or snow. That's it. As for new cars, I'd expect a few there too. And what about manufacturers? Maybe one or two. Or five. Who knows?

And then we have two other big possible features: Track editor and a livery editor: That, for me, seems more tricky to incorporate into a trailer, but it can be done. If it's not done at E3, it could just be another last minute surprise, but I tell you, the minutes are fading fast. Interest should be raised in June. Let the marketing campaign begin. Let the hype commence, Sony.

Like I said before, if the blowout doesnt happen at E3, is very doubtful to expect a calendar 2010 Release and, besides, I cant wait for Another TGS expecting a blowout....

We will get SuperGT demo at TGS.
We will get Nascar demo at E3
We will get WRC demo at GC 2010
like this?

No. Not like that.

Don't segregate the race types by location of the gaming event. Just put them all into one trailer!

I am American, but I surely do not want to see just a NASCAR demo at E3. Wouldn't mind seeing a stock car(s) on a fictional track, though. Say....Trial Mountain.

A release date for the fall and a ton of other info at E3 along with a new demo.

TGS will be the first time the full game will be on display along with some 3D booths. The release will be soon after the show.

In "GT time" soon = few weeks to a month.

Deffo not...

Like I said earlier....

Sonys whole 3DTV release schedule begins in June , thats for both US and UK markets with Japan around the same time too. Considering most other major TV brands have already started shipping or will be before Sony release their 3DTVs.

Are we to believe E3 has nothing to do with Sony delaying their 3DTV launch to June or indeed that its just coincedence? Considering the lack of 3DTV content available to push this format forward, a real lack of 3D Blu Rays isnt enough. Additionally consumers have to not only purchase an expensive 3DTV but then an expensive 3D Blu Ray player. This all falls right into Sonys benifits....

Consoles were a big part of HDTV sales so maybe Sony is thinking PS3 and indeed PS 3DTV content can be a major factor to help drive 3DTV sales and of course more sales of their PS3 hardware.
The PS3 is the only option for consoles to offer proper 720p 3D gaming, Microsoft cant offer this with X360. It will hlep promote PS3 as superior to X360 now. Not to forget a free update will convert a PS3 for 3D Blu Ray making it an attractive purchase and saving 3DTV purchasers from having to buy a dedicated 3D Blu Ray player.

Add in some 3DTV games and well if a consumer is going to want 3DTV Sony seem to be making a statement that the PS3 is "the best platform" to use to enjoy such content. If GT5 isnt part of this promotion Id be shocked particulary if it doesnt help promote PS3 and 3DTV.

Seriously if PS3 3D Games are not on display at E3 I will stop drinking coffee. :scared:
Sony have the chance to own E3 this year, its 10x more important than TGS and hopefully they will be showcasing PS3 3DTV update / Move / Head-Tracking and of course GT5.

Dont forget this is Sonys biggest and likely most expensive ever title and therefore its release has to maximise sales of more hardware as well. Its only now at this years E3 that all this 3DTV stuff is in place to which GT5 is definately linked and imo is Sonys leading game to promote it. If this is the case then it doesnt make sense that GT5 perhaps isnt released to FALL. Even so E3 has to be the place we finally get to learn and hopefully see much more of it.

GT5 is it really just another game release for Sony or much more?

@ Mr. Latte!

Another reason for the delay could have been the shortages of PS3's in the US. I think that the shortages will be taken care of by the time Sony rolls out there 3D TV's and will see GT5 released then! That is my opinion on the subject!

True yes they will want good stock supplies to be avalable.
The only thing I can see holding back GT5 to Autumn/Winter is if the decision to incorporate "Move" as some interface tool.

Rumours ages ago stated early Summer 2010
Its worth also considering "GT5 3DTV" could be advertised on Sonys 3D coverage of the World Cup. Sony have always been strong supporters of Football for advertising. Champions League is a fine example. What better advertising platform to use on a global scale than the World Cup?

It makes more sense to me for Sony to promote GT5 in 3D with your 3D campaign rather than several months later to help promote a new "controller device". Besides "Move" will have better suited games available to promote it than GT5.
