Tbh i doubt the box from the SLS video is the final retail packaging.
It could be a promo kit for the press for example.

Yamauchi also talks about the possibility that the SLS will be on the cover, so the final design still isnt finished.

Given the following:

We've seen shots of the apparent front menu configuration which include Arcade and GT Mode on the same front menu.
So far the PS3 doesn't allow you to swap discs over (admittedly this is but a firmware tweak away)
Arcade mode is basically just a different front end to GT Mode with all the same actual content (by which I mean cars + tracks)

I'd be surprised if Arcade mode was off on a separate disc.

Amar mentioned a while back about two versions being available one for players willing to make more of a sacrafice, maybe that was the LCE?

I'm not a fan of the new Mercedes, it looks ugly, although sounds good to drive by Kaz's description.

they can do everything, but i hope that online mode will not be separated to gt mode, cuz it would be really ugly...

My guess:

1. Its a collector's edition.
2. Black disc is the full game.
3. Red one is the manual
4. Blue disc is a "making of" disc or something along those lines

NO WAY is that a standard edition, I think Sony want to make this thing called money not have every single game release with 3 blu-ray discs.

Perhaps, the red and blue cases are just fillups.. So that PD and Sony can bring out a GT5+PSeye package, like sony did with the eyetoy games. Or they're going to release the GT pentalogy.

Disc 1 - Gran Turismo 5
Disc 2 - The Making/History of Gran Turismo
Disc 3 - The Babes of Polyphony Digital (due to popular demand)

"The Game on one Blu-Ray

One or more documentaries on a second Blu-Ray

A Detailed Manual that goes in to great depth about driving and tuning."

That's exactly what I was thinking- makes sense to me.
But I think they would release only a dvd if they were only going to do one documentary, so I predict multiple interviews, slideshows, pictures, things of that nature.

The 3rd blu-ray should be like what you've stated, something so that new players can lean off of, and old ones can watch it just for the heck of it, and may learn something! I'm just hoping for subtitles. 👍

There's a lot of speculation in this thread, but there is nothing confirming...

1.) That the package on show is going to be used for the final game.
2.) That each of the 3 spaces in the box contains a blu-ray case + disc.
3.) That any blu-ray disc in the box will be 50GB, as opposed to 25GB.

Just food for thought...

me like the box!

btw I think is a collector edition and the
1 game
2 making of
3 manual/game guide

combo makes sense to me

Maybe one of the discs is the track-editor which GT5 is supposed to have. Or has that idea been dumped yet?

I'm pretty sure that there will not be a track editor. Yamauchi all but ruled it out in an interview some time ago.

Or they're going to release the GT pentalogy.

GT1, GT2, GT3 and GT4 all on one disc that the PS3 could use would be pretty win...but it would probably end up as the least used disc in the history of electronics (anything released in a disc UNDERNEATH the GT5 disc is going to be completely ignored).

We might be looking at the collectors edition box. Nowhere in the video we see 3 disks so i don't know whats up with the title. For all we know they could be books with detail info of all the cars or whatever.

The game to be on 3 blu rays is ridiculous. 150gigs sure, if we care to wait for another 5 years.

My take on what it will be is..
1 disk - The Game
1 manual - Info on everything
1 disk - Possibly extra stuff for Collectors Edition

Even so, that would still be pretty cool. There's more than enough room over the alleged three discs to do so.

Coming back to the three disc issue, I belive the video to be showing the collectors edition. This includes the 'standard' GT5 game, plus a disc with additional content (which buyers of the 'standard' version can get via dlc) and a third cd case with the manual/poster/keyring etc.

3 blu-ray disks of GT5 content for $59.99? Jesus lord sign me up.

have anyone considered that the actual case hasn't been made yet, KY even said in the video that he doesn't know what car will be on the cover. then how can he all of sudden magically show a box, thus we don't know wether it will have 1 or 3 blurays.
Maybe this is just a big overreaction from anticipating fans :)

While some have laughed at Turn 10's two disc Forza Motorsport 3, we now see Gran Turismo 5 sporting a 3 Blu Ray disc attack! One blue, one black and one red.

What do they each contain? What should the colors represent, if anything?

Might the game have 3 different price ranges, each promising more than the next?

Might the game be split up by:

1. NASCAR
2. WRC
3. Road racing

Is it merely bonus content? What are you hoping they contain?

??:scared:

Thank GOD I bought the Uncharted 2 250GB package!

No.

You don't hold a business meeting and spend money on artwork and packaging mock ups for the fun of it. I'm sure that mock up in the video is the final set-up. I'm also sure PD know for definite what content will be included / how many discs etc. You wouldn't spend money on packaging designs without knowing what format (1, 2 or 3 discs) the game will take. I'm also sure he knows what the box artwork will look like. But he won't reveal that to us for quite a while.

Do you know how many games have work in progress boxes?
This in the video looks like a promo package, they also had stuff like this on the TGS afaik. I dont know whats on the discs, but i seriously doubt that they have the box finished 6 months before the release.

Not to mention that i also doubt that they need more than 50GB for the game, seriously.

GT2 came on two discs. One for GT-Mode the other for Arcade Mode.
