You are setting your self up for a disaster if you honestly expect GT5 out in 2009. The only way you should actually expect this game out on time is if you are new to the series.
I expect it early to mid 2010.

I'd say Christmas 2009 at least for a PAL release, and maybe earlier for NTSC.

Only bolded matters to us.
This is an e-mail that he got after asking about PS Store in Croatia and few release dates.
Heavy Rain and GT 5 are expected for a November 2009 release, but they don't know the car list yet.
This was response by a member of SCEE for my region (Southern-South Eastern Europe).
Hope you're satisfied.

Normally - yes. But the economy is not that great and I think Sony really wants that game to push Christmas sales of the PS3 all over the world. That's why they'll do everything they can to release it 2009 - at any costs, even if that means tons of DLC for all those features they couldn't implement because of the lack of time.

Yeah hope so too that they bring it on christmas 09 and give us later a lot of DLC´s... I can live with that...

well if it was mid 2010 in July 08, and now its December 09 in December 08... they are working towards completion quicker than anticipated... i expect it prolly b/w these two dates... between december 09 and July 10

It never was mid 2010, that was just a assumption people made after GT5P's PAL and US release when KY was asked about GT5's release date, KY said they haven't even thought about it and maybe even 2010.

I don't believe a word of this, its yet more trash. By the way SCEE = Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. They break there regions down like this. Eg SCEA = Sony Computer Entertainmant America etc....

PD and SONY / PS3 will be at a big loss if GT5 does not come out before the end of 2009. The best time to release a title is for the christmas holidays when everyone is happy and jolly buying expensive gifts. If GT5 rolls over to 2010 the PS3 will suffer the consiquences, sorry to say but its the truth so lets all hope for a 2009 release date.

He didn't mean SCEE = Southern-South Eastern Europe, he meant thats where that paticular SCEE member was from (working with the Southern-South Eastern Europe part of SCEE)

Another example is Australia & NZ, we are part of the SCEE but have our own 'division' so to say, of the SCEE.

I disagree. If GT5 has all those features but will not come out for another year as a result of those features then that is a sacrifice I am willing to make. I have been waiting 4 years for GT5, another year is not going to kill me (assuming it is guaranteed that it will release in one year).

I disagree. The best time to release it is now. I say this for all the selfish reasons I can think of.

On a more serious note, I would agree that pre-Christmas release date this year of 2009 seems like a good time to release the game. If they drag it out too long I think a good portion of their client base will lose interest. Promises of greatness only go so far, it's time for PD to deliver in my opinion. :)

November 09 release is definitely your prime time of the year for biggest sales. Last year Motorstorm 2 and Resistance 2 were released then to maximise sales. So something big would have to be out then for this year. Also I'm going to hang on to KY responding to the idea of a mid 2010 release in an interview a while back and saying it will be out sooner than we expect.

November-early December 09 is a good time for a bundle release, GT sales base is good enough to release anytime, but expensive PS3 bundles will fair better around christmas where expensive gifts are much more likely. If not in late 09 then I imagine the release would be around march 2010 to allow recovery from christmas.

So either theories coming from Amar's encryption (December 1 2009 or March 2010) is very likely.

They can't release before the code is ready. The consequences would be far worse than losing some of the client base.

craste
Any particular reason they couldn't launch the game at E3?

Which European beer advert had the slogan, "It is not ready yet."

From Amar we know it's either beginning of December or March next year, personally I think it's March. E3 is June, right? If it's releasing in December they are probably still a couple of months off of starting to enter the testing phase. If it's March, they are probably half a year off entering testing. Either way, you don't send out a game untested, unless you are EA, of course.

Can you imagine the reaction "Ok so today we are announcing Gran Turismo 5. By the way it will be for sale tomorrow"

lol on a serious note, because if it was going to be released at e3 we would already know. Stockists don't just get a few weeks notice of when a game is coming out. They usually need to know from a few months beforehand.

This would also get leaked, all retailers will get the game before the launch date (logically) and theres always someone who cant shut up.

That would be Grolsch, the best possible drink ever (after water, that is).

My money is on a Nov/Dec 2009 worldwide release, but I think we might know more after E3.

Of course, Amar could just be having the BIGGEST laugh at our expense!

no way!!...

remember this statement ;

K.Y. : GT5 WILL BE RELEASED SOONER THAN YOU THINK.

so what do you think ?

Meh, they can always patch it after the release. That's the new way of doing business don't you know? ;)

I would be curious what their project timeline looks like and how close they are to meeting their goals.
