Old school? 5 years have gone by and all of a suddent Gran Turismo is about what? Just online? lol, no.

Well, Forza 3 is only a few months old and to me it felt like more of a grind than GT4 ever did, and FM3 was much much shorter. Obvioulsy, auto racing games haven't changed that much at all. I guess it's up to Kaz and his vision to change that.

To CoolColJ:

Of course. Online should be epic, but you have to take into consideration how much better GT5's GT Mode can be compared to GT4's.

Take GT Auto into consideration. Take liveries, rims, paint jobs, spoilers, bumpers, sideskirts, decals, etc.

Then take into account the tuning. Kaz says nearly every imaginable part can be tweaked. That, alone, makes GT Mode ridiculous.

Now, take into account of all the cars added to the series and how they can be properly shown/rejoiced through GT Mode's journey.

Well I had to grind out the cash cow races or B-Spec the DTM championship to get the 9 million or so for the black LMP cars in the used car yard that show up every 700 or so days

I don't want any of that in GT5, those days are long gone. Gaming is way different now
The way GT4 had it, was like one big check list ... snore.
There was no real career mode structure at all.

GT5 should be like a big sandbox, you do whatever you want, when you want to
You should also have your own personal cars, and cars that you don't own, but drive for race teams etc

I've already posted that you can easily get to 25% without redoing a single race. I chose not to grind to do this.

You did not have to grind. You chose to grind. It's no good blaming a game for making you do something that you chose to do yourself because you wanted an expensive black car.

In my view, you should have to grind to buy a Group C car or a special prototype. These are not easy things to get hold of in the read world therefore they should require effort on our part in game. :)

Don't forget bumper stickers and furry dice......;)

What about neon and blur effect when using nitro? :D

GT will steal many NFS players if tuning is like you guys mentioned. A best seller for sure. Suck it, modern warfare!

I hope those NFS players with their questionable taste regarding cars and probably most other thing as well keep playing those arcade titles.
Don't need that lot intruding our precious GT-community....;)

I mostly want my tuning to be mechanical, although i probably can't resist modding a few with functional spoilers and decals to transform them into touring cars or whatever.

Really want a paintshop though...........and a nice and wide variety of rims

• Two-lap races.
• Races with cars that don't turn well.
• Some expensive sports car will change direction as swiftly as a mountain.
• Prize cars you won't be able to race anywhere.
• A prize car will be awarded to you, which is identical to the one that you just bought.
• A prize car that is nearly identical to the one you just won a race series with.
• A prize car that is for all intents and purposes identical to the one you just won a race series with, but some blind man on this forum will claim it's as different as "night and day".
• A mysteriously weak and comparatively impotent car prize car will be awarded to you for winning the fastest, most-powerful, and arguably most-difficult racing series.
• Frustrating AI (or at least, an excuse to call it frustrating because we came in 2nd place).
• A turn on a street course that appears to be a great place for overtaking, but is only narrow enough for a vending machine.
• A license test that is so difficult, it was programed by Loki, and beta-tested by Lucifer.
• Your favorite car won't allow you to upgrade it with more than 246 horsepower.
• Only six Truenos will be included.
• Only 56 Skylines and their variants will be included.
• Your car and favorite racing track will not be included.
• Your favorite music will not be included.
• A very catchy jingle will be included.
• A delifrate mitskake, mipselling, Martin grammatica err will be inclunded to 4WD from its native language.

I seriously don't want to race against Vicky Pollard's next-door neighbour and then get death threats because I lapped his piece of crap Peugeot 106 3 times in 6 laps. :scared:

Get with the program - it's a driving sim, not a real life simulator. You want to open that box? Fine, in real life you'd have to travel between countries to race on different circuits - if you race Suzuka you'll have to wait about 48 hours (depending on connecting flight times) before you can lap the Nurburgring - that'll give you plenty time to fill out the necessary import forms if you plan on taking your favourite car with you.

It's supposed to simulate driving, not grafting your arse off to earn money to buy cars. I play GT in my leisure time. I have a real job if I want my pants bored off me.

Then took a look at another set of game features that he says make Gran Turismo what is today a reference in the world of driving simulations. Arcade and story modes are the same as previous versions, but taken to the next generation. That is, new graphics, new physics, new details. In the shop there will be many parties to improve your cars. The creator was particularly proud of this facet of The Game. We commented that he can change almost every imaginable piece of the vehicle. Not just the typical sections of the engine, brakes, etc. ..

Well I thought this was quite funny :D

It's almost stereotypically British in its cynicism!

And thanks to CoolColJ for reminding us 👍 I guess it really is just the online stuff that'll change the way the game plays.

After reading this thread I cannot believe only 30% of PS3 owners are online. If any GT planet members are planning on playing GT5 offline then my word you are seriously going to miss out.

I have been playing video games online since the PS2 and then I moved onto Xbox live. At first getting the PS2 online was a nightmare but as routers are automatically configured these days, getting your console working online is relatively simple i.e plugging in ethernet cable.

After many yrs of playing online I have met a solid group of friends who enjoy playing racing games like me. We all purchased our Xbox 360s at the same time and also purchased a PS3/GT5P at the same time. Now playing GT5P with my friends was great fun. What we used to do is, when hotlapping, we would switch on our 360s and go into party chat. We then would pick a car/track and compete against each other whilst chatting away. Many happy hrs was spent playing GT5P this way and we also figured out a way of racing against each other online. Just to add to this we have now met another group of friends whilst playing Forza and now members of timeracingclub who will be coming to GT5. Check the timeracing club website if you want to know more about this well established online racing team.

So you may ask why am I telling you all of this? Well the answer is I don't want anyone to miss out. Playing online isn't just about racing against each other. Whilst playing with friends you can also discuss various aspects of the game i.e racing lines, car set ups etc.

Finally I will add that the beauty of online play is how the lifespan of a game is infinite. For example if I was playing MW2 offline only I would of been finished with the game after a week. However thanks to its online play I still play it every night. Now obviously GT mode will last longer than a week but like I say your going to miss out if you only play offline.

The reason why some are hesistant with online play is simply down to some being set in their ways. I remember my first race online and I was that nervous my controller wouldn't stop shaking. My advice is take the leap and you won't regret it!

Clan war is how online gaming is played. If you don't get the team-spirit then you'll never experience the real online, imo.

Agreed! Agreed! GT5P feels so condensed. I feel so constricted (I know it's a tiny game). GT4's lay-out is nice, but now that I have a chance to look at it, it's pretty concentrated to a degree, too. I expect GT5's map to be at least double that of GT4's.
Personally I didn't really like GT4's map, and would much rather have had basic menu options.

I didn't how all the cars were in the same place in Prologue. I prefer to have different sections on the map for different kinds of cars. Like Japanese cars, European cars, American cars etc.

I hated that - just means more clunky menu navigation.

I really liked GT4's world map, i generally like GT's menus as a whole, they make a rather complex game seem logical to navigate.
Maybe an option for a simple or complex menu lay-out could be offered, to suit each preference, well two different preferences at least.
Not a serious suggestion, as i thrust PD to come up with the right one, apart from a few niggles they seem, for me at least, well thought out.

My main problem with all GT menus, ever, is the loading time. Then there's the constant "are you sure" crap. I mean who do PD think they are, Microsoft or something?

"Buy stage 2 turbo"

"are you sure?"

"yes"

"Do you want to use this upgrade now?"

"Well, DUH!"

"Are you sure?"

"DIE IN A F&@KING FIRE!"

"Are you sure?"

I also didn't like the fact you had to buy stage 1 and 2 turbo first before eventually upgrading to stage 3 and some of those "are you sure?" questions i would also rather do without, still small niggles although increasingly annoying, granted, in a generally well designed game menu.

Oh please, if I'm buying 75.000 Cr upgrades with my 100k Cr budget, you better f well ask me if I'm sure, what if i click by accident as part of an involuntary spasm from playing 96 straight hours on release.:)

Spasms are by definition involuntary, although they can be voluntarily and perhaps unwittingly be set in motion by playing a game for so long.
Accidentally clicking an option in a game might then not be the most worrying concern or dubious lack of judgement.;)

, You don't need to buy any early stage turbo upgrades to do that, I always bought the same T4 kit to improve my factory untouched R34. ;) This only applies to weight reduction, which is completely reasonable.

Seems like you've been losing precious credits in all cars. :D

I just want an option to buy everything - all stages, so you can mix n match. With perhaps one "are you sure?" option.

Problem is to do this in GT4 I need to spend about 20mins clicking like an idiot. Where two clicks would have done fine.
