Fine then...

Please use this thread to make your predictions for, and discuss, Gran Turismo 7's next update.

We're calling it the August/1.62 2025 update because why not. We don't know that it'll arrive in August or be called 1.62, but both fit existing information. While Kazunori Yamauchi has stated that the updates aren't monthly by design, we have grown to expect it - though August is a month previously skipped over for a GT7 update.

The pre-update social media posts highlighting content from the previous update have already begun to arrive, and these have recently been harbingers of the next update. We've already seen the first two cars highlighted and no update in 2025 has seen the second car posted any further out than 13 days before the update (although they have been much earlier in previous years).

GTWS will have its second live event in early September 2025, and we're anticipating that some content will be teased at that event. This could suggest that the next update will not arrive until after that, or that it will be before and the event will use some of the new content and/or tease the content for the subsequent update.

Notes:

  • DON'T POST WISHLISTS
This thread is for predictions (guesses with evidence; see below), not hopes, wishes, wants, or abject rectomancy. If you can't post here without doing that, just don't bother - there are MANY OTHER THREADS for doing that, and this one is not that.

There are no second chances on this because we've wasted too much time with people who want to divert threads from their purpose and we've gone out of our way to give them enough other places to get it out of their system... Continuing to ignore this very simple instruction will lead to thread bans, and repeat offenders will collect a site-wide ban.

Apropos of that, wishlists go in the Car & Track Wishlist Thread which we made specifically for that purpose:

  • Predictions are guesses with evidence. Given that the entire past history of free Gran Turismo game updates (with one exception) has given us the expectation of the number of cars (single digits) and tracks (one or zero), if you're posting ridiculously long lists of cars and multiple tracks then that's a wishlist. See the first rule. So are lists of brands (multiple) which have never been in the game series before or which have been cut and are showing no signs of returning («coughs» Lotus «coughs»).
  • bUt We DoN't HaVe AnY eViDeNcE. Sure you do. There's been more than 30 content updates now. That shows you what volume of content you can expect and what type of content PD is focusing on. Over the last year it's been filling in generational gaps of certain model lines (see the C5 from 1.59), but there's also been quite a few oddballs lately (Unimog, Kangoo, Carry), some day-to-day modern stuff (so... many... CUVs), some well-placed cars from our Suggestions forum (hey look, another place to express your car/track wishes!), and some 4K-era upgrades to cars from previous games.
  • Go

I've been itching to do this, so:
  • Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution '97 (Event: Japanese 4WD Challenge 600)
Going with the trend of SUVs, the ultimate Japanese SUV that should have been a GT staple should be an obvious pick.
  • Porsche Boxster (986) '96 (Event: Porsche Cup + Special Event)
Every year has at least one Porsche added, so this one might be the first Porsche of the year. Remember SCEE's Porsche Challenge?
  • Acura Integra Type R (DC2) '01 (Event: ???)
A pattern buster with regard of the American car pattern, even if it's technically Japanese, and continuing with the "dupe" trend. This will also pose a question - as the Euro-market RS Cosworth duo were given Race of Turbo Sports Car races instead of American Clubman/FR (for Sierra) due to they being not true American cars, what race it will receive (since it cannot go there as a NA car)? Is it time for a new Type R Meeting Bonus Book, or will it be the point where the update only gives two events?
(I originally only had the Pajero and Boxster in mind. The Acura DC2 was added to fill in the third slot.)

EDIT: In addition, engine swaps:
  • R26B-787B to CX-30 (fuel buff; to go with its crazy aero)
  • RB26DETT-GT-R-R34 to Nissan SILEIGHTY '98 (2nd swap)
  • 3UZ-FE-SC430 to HiAce (2nd swap)
  • VR38DETT-GT-R-Nismo to R34 Z-Tune
  • SE75E-2&4 to N-One
EDIT 2: Sophy track choice: Kyoto Yamagiwa

So for this month's prediction, I'm trying a different approach...

I asked ChatGPT what it thought was the most boring, unexciting and dull to drive car manufactured in the last ten years.

Just "Mitsubishi" is too general, so I'm going to be more specific and predict the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV '21.

This car ticks a lot of boxes for PD, based on their recent update pattern.

• It's an ungainly crossover with zero enthusiast appeal ✅️

• It's a hybrid, which can't be tuned - so no risk of players having lots of fun with it ✅️

• Nobody asked for it ✅️

I'm also gonna predict the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra '25 for this month, since we know it's coming sooner or later. And that leaves one slot open for something mildly quirky that players might actually like. I'll go with a Volkswagen Corrado VR6 '94 since that brand hasn't had a car added for ages (ever?).

I also predict:

• no new tracks
• no QoL updates
• five engine swaps, at least one of which turns a car in to an undrivable death trap
• three boring catch-the-rabbit races that can be done in twenty minutes
• supermarket, daycare, and office car park scapes, so you can escape from your disappointing and unfulfilling life by taking photographs of a virtual Qashqai in its native environment. Yay.

Idk, I'm starting to not care about these updates and I'm not sure PD does either 🤷‍♂️

From a previous entry, i still believe this is still a valid prediction

I read all previous postings (and the guidelines) and i do have a valid prediction that I do believe will hold some water...
bUt We DoN't HaVe AnY eViDeNcE. Sure you do. There's been almost 30 content updates now. That shows you what volume of content you can expect and what type of content PD is focusing on. Over the last year it's been filling in generational gaps of certain model lines (see the C5 from 1.59), but there's also been quite a few oddballs lately (Unimog, Kangoo), some day-to-day modern stuff (C-HR, CX-30, CR-V), some well-placed cars from our Suggestions forum (hey look, another place to express your car/track wishes!), and some 4K-era upgrades to cars from previous games.
It does seem like we've been getting quite a few Japanese SUVs/CUVs lately, so I'd imagine that one from Nissan could be next, especially with their new design direction. Heck, it could even end up being the Ariya Nismo for as little as I know. Then there's also Subaru, which also doesn't have an SUV/CUV yet, but I'd imagine an older Forester would be very iconic indeed - perhaps the Japan-only Forester STI from 2004?
My first entry in this prediction is we will get another SUV/Crossover but it will not be from the Asian Market, it will be European and from an existing make that is currently in GT7. My predictions that it will be a Porsche Macan or AMG EQE SUV
2023-EQE-SUV-FMG-004-DR.jpg

or AMG GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE Coupe.
S-BODYSTYLELANDING-GLC-COUPE.jpg

Or better yet the Jaguar F-Pace.
JDP_2024 Jaguar F-Pace SVR Ultra Blue Front Quarter View.jpg

As these all are high performance types.
The second prediction is that we will be getting another track, mainly because we have not received any new tracks since Eiger and that snow covered thing in the Canadian Rockies. The track will most likely be Motegi or the Montreal GP circuits because of the past postings elsewhere in GTPlanet stating that these tracks should be coming to GT7.
That is all I have and my evidence that should back my posting.
Thank you for reading....

Hard to predict what will come in the next update, I'm not 100% about an August update.
Probably will get three cars
  • One from the datamine list: my vote goes to the Aston gt12, but I would love to see the CTR Yellowbird
  • One as a "filling": like a Lancer Evo o Subaru Impreza
  • Following the recent trend, a SUV like the Amg G wagon seen in the events

As we get a Porsche every year, sooner or later we'll get one. If the SUV trend continues, maybe the Macan or Cayenne will come. Maybe in August, who knows...
About the Xiaomi, I believe that it will come in early 2026, after being premiered at the world finals

Well I'm going with a sports/family/unique theme as the previous months have shown.

BMW M2 (G87): This one got shown in London next to other cars that made it into the game and I can't help but think it's meant to be.

Lexus LBX: Hopefully the Morizo edition, that would be more sporty than family but it's practically a crossover and we love those right now.

Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale (1967): It's limited edition like the R34, would make a great 20 million quid car which I'm sure everyone will be happy with.

Alpine A290: we haven't had a proper electric since the Hyundai and since it's sister car is selling like hot cakes, it makes sense to me.

I confidently predict all of this will be wrong.

M5 '05 (datamine, loved car by the community, surely pd would want to add it sooner than later)
Impreza '05 (generational gap filled)
kind of a random guess but... 911 GT3 R 992 or 911 Cup Car 992 (Porsches just get too much love in GT7, i would expect this, even if recently the tendency has gone to more oddballs and suvs, rather than racing cars)
Subaru Forester Touring '23 (At this point we can confidently say that atleast a new suv will come in every update)

Seeing as there have been 8-9 updates a year since launch, and we are at 6 updates already, I think August is going to be a month that is skipped. Probably another 3-4 car update in September before a final "big update" around the holiday season.

  • 1990 Fiat Panda Super i.e. (we all know it is coming at some point, sooner than later)
  • 2002 Renault Avantine (datamine and quirky)
  • Fifth Generation Toyota RAV4 (not sure of the specific spec, possibly the PHEV version)

If there is a fourth car:

- 1998 Nissan R390 GT1 (Endless Doompick)

- Sophy added to Daytona Road Course

- An extra menu and a new scape

About the Xiaomi, I believe that it will come in early 2026, after being premiered at the world finals
I agree.

Seriously how much would it cost to get the license to run the old malaysia Gp circuit? Or Magny Cours? We are in dire need of proper tracks without gimmick chicanes.
I don't imagine it would be too Difficult to get Sepang (Seeing as its not exactly in demand for sims right now). Magny Cours feels less like a "Can they get it" and more like a "Will they get it" because just like with Sepang, Its not exactly a track Sim Racers are tripping themselves over for.

Following their current pattern:

*Sport/Race: BMW M4 competition 2021
*Meme/weird: Fiat Panda 1000s 1981
*CUV/SUV: Subaru Crosstek 2022

*No new track

*5 engine swaps

*No new scapes (Curation selection of existing scapes instead)

My prediction are:
Volkswagen T-cross 85TSI 24 (Small crossover because we have baby ones like the Peugeot 2008 and the CX-30)
Toyota Yaris 24' Gr sport
Honda Odyssey Rb3 Luxury Edition 13' (Maybe we should start a new type of car in the game, I love that my Favorite car might come in this game but yeah)

Sorry if im breaking a rule or yeah thats all plz let me know if iam

I predict the same sort of theme as the last few (I don’t envision a track once again):

Cars (3):
  • Peugeot 3008 Allure ‘21 - ever since they added the 2008, for some reason I can see them add the larger 3008 for the CUV car. Going to assume it would be the Allure trim again.
  • BMW M5 ‘05 - the quick car and from the datamine, maybe now it’s the right moment for them to add this, this would also continue as a return from older GT games too.
  • Nissan Cube EX (FF/CVT) ‘02 - definitely up there as quirky, a return from older games and wouldn’t put it past PD to add this box to the game.

GT Sophy (1):
- Sardegna Road Track A - more of a guess, but reckon it will be a track hardly anyone wants priority for GT Sophy next.

  • A Japanese SUV: 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross (or Subaru)
  • A quirky car: 1992 Autozam AZ1
  • A European sports car: AMG or Volkswagen Group/Porsche car overdue for this year; 2019 Porsche Macan GTS or 2019 CLA 45 S

No new track
New Scapes
3 Events
Sophy added to 1 track

And i am not expecting anything in August due to Japanese holidays mid August, i think it will be September

Last month was a high cost update. Let’s go with another one:

Best Motoring AWD Sport 2024 [Hot Version](completed)
  • GR Yaris Automatic ‘25
  • AMG GLC 63 ‘18

2021 GT Award Pebble Beach winner
- Ferrari 512 S ‘69

Datamine listed
  • BMW 2002 Tii ‘75
  • Buick GNX ‘87

The following is a total guess as no one apart from PD employees and dataminers actually know, and they aren't going to disclose it.

Red Rock Valley Speedway (unlikely, but the scapes in 1.61 were in a similar location; there have been some code snippets suggesting that it has been in the game code for a long time). Whether it arrives in GT7 is a separate issue, as I get the feeling that PD are holding off on major content until GT8, whenever that is.

And as for a few car guesses in the general theme of recent updates:

Renault 5 Maxi Turbo '85
Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution '97
Mazdaspeed NB MX-5 '04
Ford Puma '22

Here's my "strange" prediction I totally won't get wrong and is probably even weirder than PD's latest update:

Cadillac Escalade '06 (Event: American Sunday Cup 600 - High Speed Ring) - An SUV, still continuing with the SUV trend but with an American SUV instead, also a scenery car seen in GT5P specifically on High Speed Ring. Probably not happening though since it's from a brand not in the game yet. (Sold in Brand Central and at the Used Cars dealership)

Ford E-150 Cargo Van '10 (Event: Sunday Cup - Trial Mountain) - We have one Japanese and European van in GT7 that being the HiAce and the Kangoo, why not one from America? (Sold in Brand Central and at the Used Cars dealership)

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII GSR '01 (Event: Evolution Meeting - Fuji International Speedway) - Fills out most of the Lancer Evolution models except the first and second models. (Sold in Brand Central and at the Used Cars dealership)

Too weird of a prediction?

Your Ford Van prediction reminded me of something I have been thinking might eventually make an appearance. The classic (90's) Dodge Van (Dajiban). They have a huge following in Japan.
