Especially when it comes to track modelling where apparently it takes way too long for them to model a city course now because of all of the detail they would have to put in. But do you need to put in that extra detail? Really?
City courses are different - while Kaz is the person who spoke up about it, nobody in the genre is really doing photorealistic urban areas other than the new Test Drive game, and we'd all notice and complain if a new GT track had TDUSC's level of graphics. Even the other open worlds, FH5 and Crew Motorfest, try to get away with as little urban buildup as possible in their maps.

That is absolutely a "city courses are really challenging at current fidelity levels for everyone" problem rather than a "PD are perfectionists and take longer" problem.

The fundamental formula is 4K assets take a long time for all developers to make. City courses just have way more assets than stadium or mountainous circuits, and because they're all unique you can't just copy and paste either.

I regularly test new forza motorsport content.
And no, clearly gt7 has nothing to envy to forza, especially the interiors are not incredible. (and I have forza on PC in ultra)
Even compared to project cars on some aspets.

(this is not advertising, but I enjoyed comparing both games)

I just can't recall the differences(if any) of La Sarthe in each GT.
what i can see GT4 is the oldest data (duh) not being HD , only since GT5/6 track been updated into HD with new assets then ofc in GT Sport remade which we got in GT7 too

If it means I can stop posting this image everywhere, then absolutely (yes, that is actually what GT7's Le Mans looks like.)
I am much more impressed by them gravity defying ultra-high durable power lines that seem to be beams made of weightless material that is ignoring any kind of forced movement by weather effects to not put the slightest strains on the poles than I am by the lack of detail compared to the "bad FM".

Okay, just a bit of a distraction.

If this car is being made available/delivered in the summer, does that coincide with the official GT7 Nations and Manufacturer events? I did mention that Gazoo Racing E-Motorsports events usually begin around April. Both series would be an awesome way to debut the virtual car. Especially driving it before any real world owners get it.

There's no point really to making it seem like Forza is some irredeemable heap of garbage, as much as weirdos on the Internet would have you believe it is.

For as much as Turn 10 could take from GT's relentless eye for detail, PD could absolutely take from Forza's lobby features, multiplayer event rotation and actual semblance of communication.

Unless you want both games to be worse off in the end?

I was only talking about the visual aspect, in particular the vehicle modeling.

I have nothing to say about the game's multiplayer.
The career mode, on the other hand, is one of the worst in Forza Motorsport.

But I completely agree with you about PD's non-existent communication compared to forza.

Forza also has multiclass racing. PD really are lacking in certain gameplay aspects
True, but there are no solo multi-classes or endurance races.
(Because the AI is incapable of managing the pits properly, easy to make some tests.)

Which is quite outrageous, because in the first launch of the game, you drive in a multi-class endurance race... which was completely scripted and doesn't exist in the single-player.

I play FM23 and GT7 on a regular basis, each game has its merits.GT7 car details blow forza out of the water, however FM car list has something for everyone,I prefer the car choice in FM but thats my opinion. What I dont like is the FOMO thing every month, plus the real lack of races.Once you have done the 4 open class tours, there is nothing, career wise, left. You have multiplayer,TT and the monthly races, back in GT7 you have a lot of races to cover even if they are chase the rabbit formula. The AI in FM leaves a lot to be desired though, handling wise they are both slightly different but I cant say which one is best or realistic on a controller.GT7 and FM are both great on a controller but never tried a wheel on either nor have any desire to,ive never found, nor I suspevt most pad users either,GT7 `unplayable`on a pad
In my own opinion both games are good for different reasons,if you want to see a real crap shoot head over to the official forums for a laugh. Some of the comments are priceless.
This is just my take on it all,no grief intended. 👍

It is kinda sad how we don't have all these cars. Partnership my arse.

GT7 is really above everyone in detailed futureproof models, and that can be appriciated in PSVR2 wich I really enjoy.

But this also makes me sad when they waste resources on some "useless" cars (looking at you C-HR), and at the same time we are missing some relevant road cars all other games have (I30 N, Audi RS models, new VW GTI/R to name a few).

Also one thing that I think wouldn't be hard to implement would be drive modes for cars, for example additional "fake DCT" mode for Ioniq 5 N, and ability to change torque bias. These 2 things real car have, and are ironicaly written in GT7 car description, and you cannot access them.

Ah interesting, I didn’t know this

Oh snap. Does it look like that in GT4-GT6?
Here's GT4 and GT5. I would say 7 is somehow worse. That weird hill etc. don't exist in real life, and aren't in the old games.

This is kinda where I wonder if it's even worth it for PD to bother spending that extra time on little details. I feel like there's a point where the focus on quality is too much and PD hit that.

Probably to be able to port those assets to a more powerful Hardware in the future?? Part of the problem with Forza and their models is that they didn't age well and received a lot of criticism for that

Forza also has multiclass racing.
I always wonder why that would be a selling point.
While some events around the world are with mixed classes of cars, I only think it makes sense from a financial point of view: only opening up the track for all the logistics a single time instead of for as many classes as there are.
But as a spectactor it only matters on really large tracks where you dont want to wat 5 minutes until the next time the car passes by your viewpoint.
Racewise its just stupid adding formula 4 cars into a formula 1 race, so it doesnt happen ...

That was in Motorsports 3 and 4. Multi-class races can be done in GT7 through custom races... but that's that.

It’s only a makeshift version of multiclass racing though

It makes no sense to have a multiclass sprint race like f1. But in endurance racing it adds a whole new dimension. I found it pretty enjoyable watching a driver having to negotiate traffic and also trying to defend position

I don’t know what’s worse - No trees or trees that look like Le Mans is located in Canada.
The track modeling isn't great, but the species of trees chosen are the right ones.

Damn, I feel so embarrassed for Pody....

Okay, I haven’t taken many scapes but was trying to do this for the weekly challenge. Is there only a handful of scapes that allow for 5 cars to be in the photo? And is there a way to filter for this that I was missing.

That's a press photo from Forza Motorsport, not a Scapes location in Gran Turismo 7.

And no, three maximum. If you want more, you'll need multiple images knitted together.

Oh jeez right in the upper left I missed that lmao. And ahh ok I wondered if that’s what people were doing in the weekly challenges thread. Thanks!

That’s what I’m also thinking, right now there’s no city tracks in racing games like this, and that’s for reason I think. Don’t know about F1 2025, there should be some in it I think, but at which quality level is the question then. The only recent game that comes to my mind is GRID Legends, haven’t played, but it goes more in the arcade direction from what I heard, but the city tracks look pretty good I would say.

But what I’m really thinking about when it comes to this topic or graphics overall today, is the Star Wars Battlefront Game from 2015, a 10-year old game that still looks incredible today and better than many recent games.
Sure it’s a totally different genre and there’s a lot of physics and FPS and all of that a Shooter like this doesn’t have to care that much about than Simracers, and sure they also made sacrifices for this, it’s just that they achieved something incredible like this 10 years ago with photogrammetry (also Battlefield 1) and there was nothing like this again that I know of (at least in the AAA sector).
I’m sure there’s reasons for it, I just would like to know them. Back then I just thought „wow, that’s what games are going to look like from now on?“, but that was a bit naive it seems now.

But hey, at least GT7 got the Genesis Coupe. That means something...

Right?!
Except it have a buggy odometer and trip meter in GT7. But it was fine in GT7 and GTS before.
