GT7 will 100% benefit from PSSR 2.0, as Sony is saying it is implemented at the system level through a toggle...

My only concern with this, is that when settings get a toggle like that, there is probably a caveat of your mileage may vary depending on the game lol. But I would expect immediate improvements in GT7.

I would also imagine that there is more to PSSR 2.0 that is developer facing. I would hope that as a major first party studio, that PD would have been one of the first with access to these tools, and that they will natively (in game engine) implement PSSR 2.0 with a patch
PiSSR 1.0 is already only a toogle in the settings

In the PS5 system settings, not GT7's settings. There's going to be a toggle that makes PSSR 1.0 games try to use PSSR 2.0 instead without being explicitly updated by the developer to do so.

I don't think it'll matter too much for GT7 specifically though. I think we can reasonably expect it to get a proper PSSR 2.0 upgrade in the next update or two.

I feel like we've just hit the point where devs really learned how to take advantage of the Pro's hardware. For me Resident Evil Requiem is the first game where the difference between PS5 and PS5 Pro is really very obvious.
Don't get me wrong, the better lightning in cockpit view for GT7 is already quite nice, but what Capcom has done here is just a different level. And it's not surprising, it always takes a while to get everything out of a consoles hardware. Curious to see if PD will give GT7 another round of optimization in the near future.

I think it could allow them to rework things the PS5 Pro still struggles with in GT7. Weather effects, reflections/mirrors.

I had been thinking about upgrading some some time. With the age of my PS5 and murky outlook for PS6, I decided to go for it. I was able to trade in my very early base PS5 and a PS4 to GameStop, and also sold my old PS3 and G29 to a local used game shop, so my net out-of-pocket for the Pro was about $290. So far, really enjoying the improvements. Haven't really played with any of he settings yet, but the gameplay is noticeably smoother. So far, so good...

Honestly, in Gran Turismo, the benefits of the PS5 Pro are really not noticeable. Even raytracing looks ****** and then you add PSSR and it all goes to hell.

My personal settings are PSSR: OFF, Prioritize Ray Tracing/Resolution and Enable 120hz.

I would love to have Prioritize Resolution with ray tracing off, it just makes the wheels and shinny surfaces look really bad/low res for some reason. Especially noticeable in the GT Auto garage and during the Cafe Menu cut scenes.

The system update bringing upgraded PSSR to the Pro goes live today (or tomorrow, depending on your location). No mention in the PS Blog post of a specific update for GT7. The improved PSSR will be available via a toggle in the system settings to enable the new version on any game already running PSSR, ie GT7 and My First Gran Turismo.

Both Silent Hills look promising. To be completely honest, PSSR in GT7 looks terrible on a big screen, so I have it off. Hope the update comes to GT7 soon.

Would the PSSR and the AI rendering go hand in hand for GT7? I mean, would PD wait to implement PSSR when they have AI doing the rendering?

Not as big an upgrade as some other PSSR games I quickly tested (as GT7 already runs at a higher resolution with less issues) but still a noticeable improvement.

Currently I'm testing the System Update I just received about 30min ago...
So far 2 things stood out immediately.
In Graphics Mode/RayTracing enabled combined with 120hz Mode with VRR AND PSSR activated, I'm getting a higher average FPS as well as a more detailed Picture Quality.
Less pop in as well as an overall improved picture Quality.
With 120HZ deactivated in Graphics Mode/Ray Tracing enabled it now finally looks way way better than the eye cancer shimmer we had to deal with.
Back to the drawing Board for some more testing.

I get confused, does pssr2 work in quality mode and performance mode for gt7? Don't think it works for both modes in other games?

GT7 on the Pro doesn’t really just have quality and performance modes. PSSR can be enabled whether prioritizing graphics/raytracing or framerate, and with or without enabling 120 Hz output.

It does work in other games with both modes as well. It’s most effective in performance modes.

That's awesome, like I've said, it looked pretty terrible before, so I can't wait to be home and see for myself. Also curious about the picture quality of the 120hz mode, could the tradeoff be worth it for online races?

Is this improvement bigger than the improvement you saw a few days ago when the game update came out?

Weird. Because I'm still getting those ugly blurry and flickering rims, emblems, carbon surfaces, shift knobs etc...

I've been using the 120hz mode pretty much exclusively since I got my Pro. It was fine (for me) before, improved now. I'm not as susceptible to the graphical issues as other people so they may still find it unsatisfactory.

That has nothing to do with PSSR or resolution, that is a ray tracing issue. I kinda hoped that would be fixed with the first PSSR upgrade but seeing at it hasn't I had no hope it would be addressed in the new one.

How big is the screen you're playing on? Cause I can tell you that on an 85" the resolution downgrade is pretty noticeable, especially when sitting close with a wheel.

50" and I sit the recommended distance away. I like my eyeballs intact.

Still getting massive slowdown in the 1st corner of a wet race with 10 cars ahead using PSSR. So turned back off. Can live without cockpit ray tracing until the game is hopefully patched.

Haha, yeah, it is basically right to the hospital after every session in my case. Could you post some gameplay from Kyoto or Monza? Those used to be the most horrendous, from what I can remember.

Shoot, that's not great. I don't even recall the game slowing down when using PSSR cause I had it off. Maybe they will release a game update.

When performance is prioritized (not ray tracing) and PSSR is enabled (either just in GT7 or on both GT7 and ps5 pro settings) I still get all that ugliness.

That's because you can't disable ray tracing on the Pro like you can on a standard PS5.

I think it's worth mentioning that the "fizzing" on metallic surfaces that people are complaining about is due to the Ray Tracing not PSSR.It's the same on base PS5 we can see it in the tuning shop on silver paint or wheels but turn off RT (prioritise frame rate)and it's completely fixed. The issue is much more subtle ingame and suits some tracks more than others.I've had both consoles since launch and the Pro has always displayed a sharper more composed image I run the game in 8k mode with PSSR on and have never encountered in game slowdown or excessive pop in.Todays update has improved things further for me and is even helping to partially de-noise the RT.
