This may be more a Sony influenced issue than PD directly.
Unfortunately, given that the slow creep of microtransactions has been building since GT6, it's fair to say that this isn't a Sony decision. It's a result of PD trying to make a game that'll serve - and milk - the fairly affluent hardcore PC sim crowd (think iRacing and other subscription services), while also serving the average gamer. While they were just offering cars or credits alone it wasn't too bad, you could ignore them and just play the game; with GT7 they're changing long-established gameplay elements and progression maps in order to push microtransactions - and all they've done is create a arduous chore of a game with what is essentially a class divide built right in.

It'd be nice to think that PD had this all forced on them, but that simply isn't the case.

In an aside, great account name - I know what my general soundtrack to the day's gonna be now; time to crack out the old collection :)

Yet you still blamed the earthquake???
Yet you didn't read my reply. I didn't blame anything. Keep banging out that lie. I asked a question if you have insider info. I said it MIGHT be the problem and I said multiple times anything could have happened with the past two days.

Goodness me this is still on going...no update in what, 18 hours? I really hope the earthquake situation hasn't had a greater impact than what we initially thought. This still goes back to the issue at hand, user reviews are now getting bombed, all the review sites that gave it 9s and 10s and only lightly mentioned about always online are now waking up and slamming (mostly) the situation and about credits earned and the MTX. I get there is a time difference but this long between no update for which nearly all of the game is unplayable, is just awful. Maybe this will be the reality check PD need to enable offline play for the full game (besides competitive MP) in another update? I mean...surely, right? Guess we'll see.

I've spent some time with offline menu playing "free lap" or whatever is the name of this , driving only the basics cars they are offering.
Just now i've discovered that my own garage is open with all the cars ready to use.:lol:
Well I never, thank you, good to know even though it's a limited functionality compare to GTS offline mode. Still that's why I always appreciate your contribution and especially your tunes setups even though like ourselves you have to grind for credits just to be able to mod like you've mentioned few times in your thread. worth the monthly contribution for them tunes my friend. soon you will have enough for your PS5

Honest opinion (from someone who pre-ordered and bought a PS5 25th anniv. edition without a PS5 or PS4 to play it on), if the next Forza Motorsport manages to nail it overall and if Forza Horizon heads to Japan next. Imma gonna buy a new Xbox instead and just keep my unopened GT7 on my shelf.

I'm somewhat relieved I held out against paying double for a PS5 and splurging out even more $$$ for a new steering wheel, playseat and TV. The only thing I bought so far other than GT7 is a new Steelseries headphones which I guess I can use elsewhere.
All games mentioned are fantastic in their own merit, but if you enjoy competitive online racing - Forza is not the way. It hasnt been "clean" and competitive since Forza Motorsport 4.

Now imagine there was a "logged in 365 days in a row and completed daily training" success and yesterday would have been the 364th day.

I don't want to know how big the ********* would be today :D

With the game being so short and lack of content I’m seriously considering returning my copy and getting gt sport? Would anyone recommend it? Or is it just as bad 🤦🏼‍♂️
Do it (for returning the disc). It's a form of the boycott. Don't destroy the disc though you'd get nothing in return.
More content than what? It's the second shortest game in the series, only behind the original. And not even by that much either.
It's actually by much, there's only 17 events on original. Not even 20.

Are there genuinely only 120 'races' in GT7, or is that made up?

One two lap race for Bathurst? One race for Monza? I'm only at Cafe #22 before the server crash so technically i'm already 50% done?

I mean for what it is GT Sport isn't bad. I got a lot of racing out of it's GT League and I did enjoy it. For the price you could buy it at now it'd be a bargain.

By more content ok fairly certain he's referencing cars, circuits, tuning parts and customisation. It's quite well documented by now that in terms of race events and time to complete it's severely lacking.
Except it's practically impossible to buy many cars at all without spending money on microtransactions (considering that the dinky little career mode leaves you with only a couple million credits after completing it), and it only has four more circuits than GT Sport (though Deep Forest is rarely used in the career mode, and then there are Monza and Kyoto - they don't have any events after the career mode is over!).

Aside from the tuning and customization, GT Sport offers the player more things to do than GT7. The player gets to do more events on pretty much the same amount of tracks, and gets enough credits to actually afford to buy cars.

Theres not that many races but the races start being five laps eventually

Things are certainly going sour for PD, at least in terms of public relations. I can't realistically see them leaving the game unplayable until Monday. The longer they wait the more people will get angry and ask for a refund. A sentiment that I am gaining more understanding of as time goes on. They need to fix this issue even if that means they need to take paid overtime. It would be extremely unprofessional if they just took the weekend off of work and left paying customers with a brick or coaster or whatever you wish to call it.

I meant races, not events. GT7 has a pathetic event list anyway. I think there are 30-35 events/championships in the menu books, and like 5 outside of them, and a lot of those events are just "American Clubman Cup 500 PP", "American Clubman Cup 600 PP", Japanese Clubman Cup 500 PP", "Japanese Clubman Cup 600 PP", "European Clubman Cup 500 PP", and so on... The WTC events are just Gr.3 Cup and Gr. 4 Cup races with different names. And ofcourse there's a handful of one-track championships, those sure were absolutely thrilling.

Monza is never featured in any menu book races. It only has one race, which only becomes available after you finish the career mode.

Because LITERALLY NOBODY has said they want all the cars right now. Nobody thinks they're entitled to have all the cars right now. It's a straw man argument.

Prove me wrong. Quote one post in the thousands posted here with someone saying "I want all the cars in GT7 right now" or anything close to it.
There's @Johnnn. To start. Always @Johnnn. He wants it ALL, NOW!
But I paid full price for all content I don't have access to.

Overtime!?! in Japan!?! Of course they not getting paid! lol

Bloody hell, this is still ongoing!!? And it doesn't look like there's even an update from PD about any kind of resolution. I get that communication has never been their strong suite but that's just appalling after 20+ hours of nothing. Basic customer service 101, communicate with your clientele, especially when there are ongoing issues.
