Holy moly the Caterham going sideways will be pretty sweet, echoes of GT4 intro....not sure what Kaz means by Niche, isnt it Nichayyy cars??? lol

I usually don't like to predict GT7 updates because PD does whatever PD wants, and to quote Famine, "I think anyone who predicted four LMH/LMDh cars in the same update would have been banned, tarred, feathered, and fired out of a cannon into shark-infested waters, regardless of any explanation".

Buuuuut... I'm wondering of Kaz's deliberate description of the update as "niche" where there usually is none could mean that the update will lean into the criminally underused drift mode of GT7...
 
Thrilled that the leaked update content has been confirmed ; and a week earlier than expected, to boot.

I look forward to drive both Toyotas as well as the Caterham, and I hope Polyphony Digital will continue on this path. 90s cars were a blast and open-top lightweight cars are really enjoyable. I wonder if Light Car Company could be back in GT at some point.
 
Yesss.. Caterham finally. Beating around the Lotus bush but it'll do nicely. Caterham was on my shopping wishlist of cars prior to getting the Elise but they are a bit pricey here in the US for what they are and how much of a pure toy/not practical it is. I kinda needed a roof around here since weather can go back and forth with rain and sun on an hour to hour basis. What I would've wanted spec'd out was around 50-60k I think. Duratec with the roller throttle bodies :drool:The R500 will definitely be too rowdy but it'll be awesome after a little de-tune. Should also be pretty cool in VR.

I look forward to people making different trim liveries or at least I'll build a few in different specs. Seems like they've maybe changed it up last time I looked. Before it was like the 2-somethin, 310, 420R, Cup etc. I wanted something in the 310-420R range but certain parts were only available on certain trims.

In terms of quality things are indeed on an upward trend, even if that remains subjective. But regarding quantity, we are lagging behind in the number of vehicles compared to what would have been accumulated by this time in previous years. 24 cars by August in 2023, 23 in 2024, 24 in 2025, 18 this year after the four cars update to come.

If normally updates brought 24 cars per year, we can expect 6 additional cars before the end of 2026. Then it could be two more 3-cars updates. Math is mathing similarly to last years, we still have four months by the end of the year.
BTW this update looks really promising!

Yes indeed we may expect something more in the upcoming months.
Since these four cars will bring the amount of dlc cars to 150, I assume that we had 132 cars added since launch, i.e., an average of 3 cars per month (or 36 per year).
As you suggested we are a bit late, as we need an additional 18 cars in only four months (4.5 cars/month) to match the previous trend…
