I just looked at Gamespot.com, and they have a story on the add-on to GT3 called: Gran Turismo Concept. Go to GAMESPOT.com for all the details. It will feature only concept cars, and will be available in Japan in January, for around $26.
 
Also please note that it says that Gran Turismo Concept is only the 1st add-on to GT3, being followed later by other 1s. Let's just hope he makes a Muscle Car Add-On.

Cool. I hope it includes that Dodge Concept from GT1. :)

Any idea about U.S. release?
 
Yeah! Dodge Concept 0wns! I wonder what ever became of it anyway....
 
I was hoping to find it in GT3. No success though. :( Maybe it will be included in this Concept package. At only $26 its a good deal.
 
Actually the full title of the game is: Gran Turismo Concept 2001 Tokyo. As you may have guessed Tokyo means that it only features japanese concept cars. I checked out the screenshots, and the cars look great, especially the new NSX Type-R, and the new Skyline. Note that since this is the 1st of many add-ons, the later ones may be based on European, and American concept cars.
 
No, but since the GT series are more popular in US than in Japan, there is a very high chance of it coming to US.

LOL. Im pretty sure they will, I can't wait to try those cars out. So they better make it quick. Also do you think they should include courses from GT3 or brand new 1s? I go with brand new 1s.

Unfortunetly it will only include 5 tracks. And it will only have an Arcade Mode. Sorry for bearing the bad news.
 
Well, I'm excited - won't be getting up from behind my desk for ten minutes or so!

Does anyone remember the great quote from Nelson Piquet when he won the Canadian GP after Nigel Mansell 'broke down' on the last lap?

When asked on how he felt on passing Nigel for the leader Nelson excitedly replied 'I nearly come!'.

SWEEEEEEEEEET!! The Bathurst is cool stuff, and I bet the RX-8 is going to have a little more acurate numbers. I also dig the thought of a new NSX, R34 Skyline, and 300GT.

Just to be the devils advocate, I'm not impressed.
What the hell is the point of having a game like this? Its a stripped down version of GT3 with a couple new rice-burners. It would be great at a kiosk at a car show, but why would you want to buy this? Are they just trying to get a quick return on investment from their preliminary work on the next REAL gt? Perhaps. Its gonna take more than 20 rehashed gt3 cars to get my $26. I could care less about having a new hood and front facade on my NSX. I dont see the front of my car when I drive.

It'll still be better than NFS XXVMMC whatever....
 
I think that if you didn't own a spec, it would be a waste of time. But if it is an expansion, with new worthwhile cars, for 26 dollars that isn't too bad. But I would rather wait for the full out GT4.
 
Sorry guys but GT3 concept is ONLY for Japan, if it success there they will make more add-ons to other countries, cars in GT3 concept is based from 2001 Tokyo Motor Show and if they make new add-ons there will be cars from motor shows in different countries, and i think that it's not expansion
 
If they want it to be a success, it better be darn good.

One thing though, how will the add-on actually work?

Will it be stand-alone? Then its gonna have problems with longetivity.

Then when they're added to the game they'll stand as not needed cars, putting in new championships could mess up the game counter.

Also, the Toyota Pod, a car with a face and a wagging tail? In GT?

Anyhow, I'm from England and I still want and pray for it to happen, I'd buy it.

I think from what I'm reading it will be a stand alone version, but only Arcade mode (no GT mode with tuning).

Longetivity would be an issue but that's why the price is lower.

The RX-8 is the version that was at the Tokyo Show - I think Mazda's numbers are a bit more accurate now the car's approaching production.

Look at it this way - I would have loved to have gone to the Tokyo Motor Show. The game will cost maybe double the admission price (guessing here), and for that you not only get to look at the concept cars, but drive them in a simulated race with other concept cars.

If you're seriously into cars, why wouldn't you buy it?
 
oops i ment Gran Turismo Concept 2001 Tokyo, but anyway how you are gonna get it if its only test (or similar) and in Japan only, sure i'm intrested about it too...
and it's standalone version with few tracks and few cars nothing more, i have not read gamespot article yet so there might be different info that i have got

I'm going to have to go with BrianCNorton on this one. This pretty much seems like a Japanese promotional title less than it does something that has a chance at reaching US shores. 20 cars, 5 tracks would get a major slap by critics in the US (and other countries.)
I see all sorts of mini-titles released in Japan that have no shot at making it here. They exist because they have a different market than we do, not that it's bad... just different.
I'd guess that we'll see a full fledged, full priced Online version of GT3 later next summer (hopefully sooner.) In truth there are only 3 or 4 cars that any of us would want to test out anyway. I'll wait until that comes out to race with those cars.:)
 
I agree with most of Brian and Tom's points....but if it's cheap (it is) YOU GET NEW CARS! Yay!!

I dunno about you, but I would gladly pay $26 for a few weeks of fun. Hell GT3 (which I got when it 1st came out) still entertains me even though I beat it. And by the way there is a very good chance of Concept making to US. Who knows, maybe they'll even add American Concepts by the time it gets here.
