gran turismo for pc?

GT will never appear on the PC as it is a Sony game. PD are owned 100% by Sony.

I have never understood why someone who desperatly wants to play GT, will not simply buy a PS2 for £100 or less. Afterall a graphics card costs £200 on its own.

Because of the huge number of variables in different PC's, the systems can never be pushed to their limits. Games developers have to build a game that will work on a 5 year old machine as well as the very latest machines.

With a console the specs are set in stone so the machine can be maxed out.

Theres no point in buying a PC version of GT4 simply for 'better' graphics, because the difference in quality will not be huge. The graphical improvements of GT5, on the PS3, however will be immense. It will take PC's a good 2-3 years, before state of the art PC's will be able to match the PS3/Xbox2, and just as importantly software arrives that actually pushes these PCs.

^ yes, but one which has to be constantly updated all the time at great cost.....when I buy a PS2 game I know its going to work fully and at its best performance on that platform.....

Well of course they COULD release it, but they are hardly going to damage PS2 sales are they.

As for your PC comment, I have to strongly disagree.

Whenever a new generation of consoles are released they tend to be far more powerful than the best 'consumer' PC's available at the time. It usually takes a good 2-3 years before the PC's catch-up, and then surpass the best consoles.

Sure there may be a 'super' PC available for £3000 that could match a PS3/Xbox2 when they are released, but the software that can use this power will not be available for a good few years, as PC software has to cater for so many different spec machines.

How long has it taken PC developers to produce a Halo beater for example. And how much have PC users spent upgrading their machine in that time?

By the time Half Life 2 is released the Xbox2 will be less than 12 months away, and the cycle will start over again.
 
I think a PC version of GT would be amazing. Car updates, wider fields, updatable tracks, and probably the possibility of creating your own car and track. Custom paint jobs would be a snap. The problem is that GT4 is designed to tailor to the strengths and weaknesses of the PS2, PD wouldn't just settle for a recreation, they would want to completely redo it for PC. It would be possible for PD to release a GT game just for PC, but not GT4. On the issue of sony not wanting GT on PC, I don't know.
 
GT1-3 should have never been released on PS2. It makes no sense whatsoever, when you think about it. All the best simulators are on the PC, and the GT series should move away from the Playstation and onto the PC, if PD really want their games taken seriously. As far as most PC games players think, the GT series never will be a true simulator until it moves away from the kiddie consoles.

In the long run it would make it so much easier for PD to keep developing the game. They release the game, then after a year or so a add-on comes out with more tracks, cars and improved AI etc. They could do a few add ons before having to totally re write the game. The PS2 does not allow for this, and makes life so much harder for PD.

You know it makes sense.

this is the same attitude PC users showed 14 years ago and looked down to us Atari and Amiga Users with our "gui" and the mouse. toy computer was still one of the nicer expressions they used.
well, amiga and atari are virtually erased from the computer world, but the concept is stronger alive than ever.

go figure.

and as already mentioned, i do not want to get the current stat of the art-PC just to drive the current GT on it.
 
The fact that it's on a console has nothing to do with how seriousely a game is taken, if GT4 is a seriouse sim then thats what it is regardless of the fact it's on PS2 and not a PC. Besides, even if that was the case, and GT was never taken seriousely on PS2, it would still never go o the PC.

The platform would be better, you have a wider rang of decent wheels, better hardware and software support. At worst it would look the same as on the PS2, the system isn't right simply because GT is PS exclusive but on the PC it would look far better, also you'd have less hardware restrictions so larger grids would be possible ect.

Exacly. I don't know why you guys dislike the idea of GT4 on PC. It would be the same game,but , better.

At the worse, make it VAIO exclusive

I'd love gt4 on the pc. Damage could be possible and the graphics would look even more photorealistic
 
It would still take away sales of the PS2, they'd never do it.

If GT4 blows GPL out of the water some ignorant PC users would still slate it.

In the days of the Amiga, it was so far ahead of the PC competition, but was still considered a 'toy' by some.

The same old arguments come out about PC games, i.e. upgadability etc. Sure you can have custom cars/tracks and the like but you also have countless bugs, patches, conflict errors, and every man and his dog making their version of a particlaur car/track, or whatever.

The beauty of consoles is that they have there spec set in stone. The upgradability aspect will come with GT4, and especially the next gen consoles when the online aspect comes on stream. Only with consoles it will be more managable as one company will be overseeing it all.

I think you will find this is the case because PC's were the only machines up until recently with the power to run a sim game.

With the PS2 however GT4 looks as good as ANY PC game, including GTR.

When the next gen consoles arrive they will have photorealistic graphics and the power to allow 20+ car grids. What advantage will a PC have then?
 
GTR doesn't look all that great when compared to gt4 or forza. Gt4 doesn't need to be on the pc to be taken seriously, even though it would be better if it was on the pc. Gt4 wont take the back seat in comparsion to any sim. In a matter of weeks, we'll find out what's really good about gt4, tgs baby.
 
The theme "let's put GT(put your number here) on the PC" is just a fantasy of GT fans wanting more control about GT series content.

Is understandable, but I don't think it will ever happen. Polyphony = Sony = PS2 mmm, no, no.
 
If GT came to the PC, we would have people making all kinds of mods for that game...adding Lambos, Ferraris, etc. like alot do with GTA.

I think GT should stay on the PS systems. GT is so much better without a bunch of glitchy mods. Not saying you don't have to get them, but alot of people would probably only buy it just for that. :yuck:
 
Lets say GT4 did come out as well for PC (which I doubt too) but say it did. Would it be eaiser or "faster" to race online? not that it will be slow on PS2, I dont know. But like since alot of people have PC's wouldnt there be alot more people to race with? ... 2nd question i guess. :) I wonder what configuration you would need to have the ultimate GT4 experiance on a PC. hmmm.
 
I got it. The only Gran Turismo game that should be put on the PC would be a new one called: Gran Turismo: Online.

PC ONLY and a based online game with downloaded content. 👍
 
No because that wiuld damage sales of PS2 online adapters.
 
Hows about this.

PD dump consoles (because compared to pc's, consoles suck, don't argue, I'm right), make pc only games.

What don't you get about the fact that if Sony release GT on any other platform it will damage PS2 sales?
 
It would stink on PC, Ok it could have better physics and graphics, but even on high end systems a computer sometimes runs slow for a minute, and controllers never feel as well intergrated into the game.
 
I'd watch SimBin (devs of GTR) in being the possible creators of a GT for PC worth having.
 
I've always wanted the GT series for the computer, but yeah, it will never happen, Realy GT3, and GT4 did exactly what they wanted it to for me, I bought my new PS2 with network adaptro a few months ago souly for these games, if they had them fdor the computer i would have only bought the games (which i do now, so they lost my money on the unit if it was for pc) too bad they undersand this concept, why can't sony and PD be run by dumb people
