Gran Turismo OVERTAKES!! Warning! Heavy photos and high Drama.

@NordicSwede - What a helluva start! :D Fortunately you kept control and snaked through the general mayhem. gaining six positions in the first 30 secs of the game must be some kind of record. Good action and something to learn there, too: 'Keep calm and carry on racing.'

Now . . . question for you Ultra Clean Overtakers:

Should I go, or should I stay?

CircuitodiRoma_340_zpsf47268f7.jpg

:sly:

Uh, yeah . . . I'm in the V16T. Morvan, the Gold Rabbit is in the Dino.

Thanks! It was an intense start as i was sliding pretty much until i got past the stalled Nissan. It's even better in video form and i gained 6 places in about 6,5 - 8 seconds i'd say.

In my opinion, if you're approaching at quite some speed compared to the Ferrari yes, otherwise no.

Nice clip. Fits in here perfectly; short, sweet, tells the story.

About the question of overtaking, you were saying:

What is most important about an overtake is that it succeeds - that you go on, a position up, no one disabled.
In effect, a clean pass. I think all expert overtakers will agree to that, whether race-driver or not.

Even the famous 'pass in the grass' by the Intimidator himself, was fabled because of that.

But here - I'm courting death.
Or so it seems.

Must remember that move.

@05XR8 - quite a scrap there. Bet you enjoyed that. Gotta love those long overtakes - was just scrapping yesterday like that, riding a Rocket versus a Lotus Sport 350 - and the guy just wouldn't give up.
Had to curb the road rage and duke it out like gentlemen; didn't want my paintwork marred. :D

Edit upcoming with follow up photos of the Cizeta / Dino battle.

My Driving Instructor, many, many years ago told me something I've never forgotten.
"Driving is all about decisions," he said. "When you make a decision stick with it. Never hesitate."
"When you commit, commit," he concluded.
Actually that has saved my life on occasion. :)

CircuitodiRoma_363_zps4a6bf2eb.jpg

I fly past him to the apex, but he was having none of it . . .

CircuitodiRoma_361_zpseb781740.jpg

He rides his brakes, inches away from my bumper.

Rushes the corner . . .

CircuitodiRoma_360_zpsb0d31228.jpg

I lunge ahead, the Cizeta whooping . . .

CircuitodiRoma_368_zps043f0682.jpg

Getting just ahead of him so that he couldn't hit me, I also had to think of how to dodge him as the severe right hand after that corner comes up. He had to slow down himself, not being able to us me as a brake block.

A hard right in a Cizeta at high-speed with a Dino and a Gold Rabbit behind the wheel, on ones tail is jaw-dropping . . .

CircuitodiRoma_373_zps271ea1a7.jpg

Had to hustle while keeping away from the wall on the left that calls like a giant magnet . . .

I didn't stay to play with him anymore, just scampered out of there as fast as I could.

CircuitodiRoma_387_zps168a13ba.jpg

Unfortunately I couldn't get out of the Cizeta and kiss it after the race. Unfortunately. I'm going to complain to Kaz.

Anyway I'm still alive.
I might not try that again.

Woah! Some great overtakes come to pass since I've last been in here.
Great to see some cheeky AI passes, too. Yes, they're getting more incorrigible by the day.
Here I am taking Chapman, the usual lead rabbit in most Beginner Seasonals half a lap before the chequers:

Racing the Midget frst time around against Wimmer in the California wasn't so good; he spun me out just before the finish line.
Was going to have none of that on my second go:

California - there I go.

I came in hot on deep forest, and I know that FF drivetrain has an understeer issue. I aimed for the inside, and got it as he was following a different line than I. It was the first time I took this speedster out for a spin, and might I say I'm quite impressed with how it handles.

Beautiful. Just a beautiful overtake, and great editing of the stills - you caught all the action there, mate. 👍
That is one of the best corners on Deep Forest for exciting overtakes, and set up right in some races you may take two or even three cars around that sweeper.
The Speedster was a 'sleeper' for me - until I took it out I never realised what a sensational machine it was.

ty :D, they are the raw pics I didn't feel like going and editing them. I was very surprised with how the speedster is. It feels much faster than my beloved mr2, which might have earned itself a 401k lol.

I do beg your pardon - by editing I meant the way you put the sequences together; should have expressed myself more clearly. The 'directing' of the 'movie' was quite well done - let me put it that way.

Ah! Retro cars ahead!

@G_Parrilla - nice shots, but I so wish I could have seen the setup to pass, and the post pass. Your photo intrigued me so I had to go check your gallery - wow - some driver, and some photographer . . . or rather some Photomode user!
I'm not usually into the personal galleries; I don't have the luxury of that much time on here, so I usually ignore them, and hardly even look at the galleries devoted to a single marque either, though I have thrown some photos into some of the Italian marques and maybe even into the Brit marques. I tend to stick to the themed galleries because that way I get to see everyone's work in the same thread.
Nice to see you in here.

@Kryption - living on the edge, ain't you? Yes, that darned Speedster is one addictive drive. :D

Thanks!
About the pass, during an online race, I (Supra) got alongside at the Hairpin exit. We made all the 200R wheel to wheel until the first Spoon curve, where I finally ended in the inside. I blocked the left front wheel and got the position for a sec, losing it again in the exit of the second Spoon, when I got wide and gifted the inside.
