Hey guys I'm trying to do that tarmac rally. The snow and dirt I won by a few secs each stage but this one i just cant get fast enough.

Whats car did you use and what are some techniques for the tarmac fally?

i used the Ford RS2000. I found it in the used dealershop. But i struggled too on tarmac, but own. Buy some decent soft tyres for your car and look if you have a lightweight car with the enough power. You cant go over the powerlimit, but its always good to lower the weight of the car ;)

I think i used a renault 5 turbo 80 or a mitsubishi 3000GT, can't remember which one... Tune it up to 245 or 246 bhp to be on the limit and make sure you use the appropiate tires.

As for strategy.. first of all ignore the co-driver, he seems to be either late or falls asleep right before he should tell you about an upcoming hairpin.. just focus on the mini-map. Also, most corners can be done at 1 gear higher than indicated by the 'red flashing gear indicator thingy', just make sure to make use of all of the available road to maintain as much speed as possible through the corners.

Finally, if you tend to spin out much set skid recovery force to on, unless you are a very good driver this helps to keep you on the road very well ;)

I'm sure more advanced drivers could give you some pro tips, but this is how I won it

You can use the FT-86 concept (or whatever it's called), you win it at the beginner FR event i believe. 220 bhp and FR, i won the tarmac rally with it without tuning anything.

For the tarmac event, I used the Motul-Mugen Honda Civic race car, that you win in the beginner cup.

For the snow/dirt I bought a 4WD Celica ST185 and won easily, after having struggled mightily with FWD/RWD cars.

Damn near anything just under the horsepower limit. Drive smoothly and its as easy as any other event. I used a Toyota Yaris.

Audi TT. Adjust the toe in and toe out slightly and its all yours.

Yap. Thats the key.
After doing this the car goes so much better around corners.

0.1-0.2 in the back is enough. around 0.5 in front. well depends on car.. but works most of the time very well.

I actually only did the toe adjustment when running the Tarmac King event. All others I used standard stock set-up but that's due to the car chosen. The TT is at the top of the regulations requirements clocking in @ 246 HP.

For intermediate I used a WRC car and for Master, adjusting the toe gave me a win on all but 1 stage (due to my PS3 assuming that a fully charged controller needed to be turned off temporarily while I was using it, causing me to crash).

I had to do it on intermediate.
my Evo VI didnt do around corners very well and after two stages i was 8 seconds back (penalty befor a straight :ouch:)

Then set 0.5 front and 0.1 back and finally won 3 stages and in the end with 2 seconds space between me and the second.

thats why i love gt so much. minor changes can make huge diffrences.

I did this first rally with some car (can't remember what it was) and then quit because it wasn't adequate for my driving styles.

Although its a pain, completing all gold in the Loeb challenge is worthwhile to do BEFORE you do intermediate or Master of GT Rally. The C4 WRC is quite frankly a beast for me in these rallies. (And by winning intermediate, the game awarded me with ANOTHER C4), so now I have two of them.

i've won the evo IV rally for intermediate. cool car :)

Isnt the c4 way too strong for the second level?
I won the snow rally by about 2 min with the Evo VI :sly:

I will work on chamonix tonight. could not gold this yet. the c4 drives horrible on snow :(

C4 base HP is 315, while the limit is 345 (which is the limit from GT2 in some races IIRC).
