Welcome to the GT Sport Edition of the Time Attack Challenge. This is a series I’ve run on previous GT games in the past and with the latest tyre model update I’m now happy to bring it to GT Sport

NO Corner cutting or wall riding

All cars must be either BoP’d or stock (will be specified for each round) and MUST run on either Sports or Racing Hards.

Tuning is prohibited

Proof of lap time must be provided via leaderboard screenshot and/or replay.

NO glitches or exploits of any kind are to be used.

All assists are permitted.

The deadline for each round is 10PM GMT on Sunday. The Next round will then be posted before 9PM on Monday.

Unlike previous versions, the GT Sport version will use a poll to decide the car for each round, from a selection of 3-5 similar cars. Polls will be posted on Friday while each round starts on Monday.

Round 1 is now live and will feature a BOP’d NISMO GT-R GT3 at Fuji Speedways Short.

Round closes at 10PM GMT on Sunday 3rd.

Just done my first session. I've saved the replay and did a manual record after the lap going into the time trial menu screen to show the bop on and stock settings.

I changed the brake balance from -1 to +1 around the lap just wanted to check thats within the rules? You can do it in the daily races with bop and forced stock settings.

Also the only GT3 nissan seems to be the schulze 2013 one not the '12 and thats what i used. Looking forward to seeing the times come in

Brake balance is allowed to be changed if you like. The GT3 Schulze is the car for this challenge as well. Post a replay or a screenshot showing your time and I’ll add it to the leaderboard. I’ll hopefully have my time in tomorrow

Thanks 👍

I'll probably have another attempt tomorrow too so I'll leave the replay till then I think, no idea how competetive it will be though.

Been fun driving the GT-R, can be tricky with understeer on entry and mid-corner then oversteer on exit.

Also, how is it being checked that people haven't changed their set-up etc? Bop could be on but added downforce and better suspension settings? I've done a manual record on my ps4 to show me going from the on track session straight to car setup menu

Like previous TAC’S ive run there is no real way of checking, sort of just have to trust everyone is following the rules.

Fair enough, i guess car behaviour would be a give away anyway tbh.

You been on track at all? If so how did you find the GT-R?

I can't seem to break 1:40 mark. Haven't run the short course in so long that my brain is programed to slow down for the chicane that's not there.
:banghead::banghead::banghead:

More tomorrow and I'll post my stuff. Running no aids, only ABS, -2 on brakes.

Do we use time trial in arcade or create a lobby? No corner cutting? Does that mean 2 wheels on track at all tlmes? Don't want to post an invalid time :)

I'm willing to try this challenge, but I'm not sure if this Time Attack Challenge will be in the traditional Arcade Mode like other Gran Turismos.

Time trial in arcade mode is probably best but you can set the time in a private lobby if you like, just make sure BOP is on

As for corner cutting if it wouldn’t give you a penalty in a sport mode race then it’s fair game

Damn, i replayed my best lap and while there would no way have been a penalty for one brief moment all four wheels were off track so i didn't save and went again

Thankfully i matched it save for a few hundreths while being careful to have 2 wheels on at all times but i definitly left a little time on the table being cautious.

Its the turn where the chicane normally is thats so easy to go four wheels over the kerb for just a brief second..

Ah well, happy with the lap anyway so might or might not have another go with less concern of that kerb :D

How are we posting times? Do we send the link privately or just post it to here?

I've put a couple of hours in so far and not sure how much more time is left on the table for me, happy with the lap so just going to leave it as it is.

Anyone else got their lap in yet?

I did 3 laps yesterday, saved the replay 1:38 something, I like hot lapping but 10 is my limit :)

I quite like hotlapping too, I enjoy setting a lap then chipping away until im happy with it. I think i would still be wanting more after 10 laps though

Ok cool :)
Here's mine, 1.34:485

Nice lap...maybe with a bit of perseverance I can take a couple of seconds off my time, not sure I can take 4 secs off!

Thanks 👍
I enjoyed that car/track combination, but I'll probably be really slow on the next one

With the GT-R it seems to be better as a stop and go kind of driving style, i was trying to carry speed through the kink where the chicane is and was either losing time on entry or braking late but running wide and being late on the power, trail braking a bit deeper into the corner and sacrificing apex speed helped a lot.

Seemed to true on some other corners too, mostly T1 and T5 but with less difference.

Was quite fun trying to put the power down through T4 ( or 5 if you count the bend right after T1 )

Dropping 2 seconds is always fun too

Round 1 is now finished. Congrats @Philtaylor17 for winning the first round

Next up will be the Honda Integra Type R (DC2) at Tsukuba Circuit

Got home from work, spun 10-15 laps at Tsukuba in the Type R ( so fun to drive!! )

First person to post a time by the looks of it, and the time to beat is 1.09:361

Have fun guys :)

Great, now I have a target! Looking forward to running some laps when I get home.

This should be an awesome combo:dopey:
