I feel like the update has done me some good somehow but not sure why.

One thing that was a bit strange was just before I came in to pit my last lap on the softs felt a bit raggedy and not at all optimal, did a 2:02.9

First lap on the mediums felt smooth and stable and with way more grip - 2:03.1

3....2....1..... aaand my DD GT shuts off. 40 seconds behind P15 by the time I get it restarted and into turn 1.

Still managed to go Q13 to P10 in GT2 slot 1 in the Americas.

Will have to try that again and hope I don't have another hardware failure.

Managed to improve my time in practice. My pb pre update was a 2:00.8** but now with the new physics I managed a 2:00.2** very happy has that put me in the top 25 in Canada 😊. Still have to wait an other 7 hours before I can do the first round in gt1 America… see you guys there

Oh my. No practice, pick a car and give it a go.

Lap 2 got pushed off into the gravel at Degner 1 and found myself p16 then after working back up to p11 I went into Degner 2 a little too hot on RM and spun into the wall which gave front damage, left front tire and engine damage. Looked at the replay and it hit a 37 mph and killed the car lol.

The count down for championship damage was interesting.
Maybe 15 seconds for the tire, at least 30 seconds for the engine recover and a little more than a full lap of Suzuka for the front splitter damage to go away. Must’ve been 2:30 for splitter to get right again. I thought I was going to need to put to fix the front but waited it out.

Wonder if time self repair time will be the same for all instances and at all tracks.

Not sure how many others were unfortunate as me ti get damage today but I figured I’d share some findings on Championship damage since results were less than interesting 🤨

Interesting day today. I had not played since the update and was tempted to sign with AMG as usual but I did a couple of practice laps and quickly decided i hate the new physics model. Decided to just have a bit of fun and signed with Suzuki instead. What happened was a surprise to me!! Qualified p8 in a low B lobby as I has never driven that VGT before. Race started and it was actually really clean which was a good sign. Made it all the way to p2 by lap 5 and then binned it on the kerb (new update has made them lethal) recovered in p5 and somehow clawed my way up to p1. This Suzuki is exceptionally good on its tyres, I managed 13 laps on the softs but really I should have done 11/9. Anyway, I got caught out starting on the softs and ended up dropping to p4 by the end. Still really enjoyed it.Skip to 25 minutes for the actual race 👍

Tried the 18:00 race on my US account low B again and for this one I went with the meta Hyundai. Qualified p1 with a 2.00:8, again I had never used this car before. Started on the medium tyre and I just drove away from the pack. Was 19 seconds ahead by lap 9 but dropped it again 🙉🙉. Recovered with a 6 second margin and pitted on lap 12 for the soft tyre. Was a lonely race, went on to win by 6 seconds for a 96 point haul

First race done...

GT2 - Americas - 11 AM EDT - Honda NSX Gr.3 - 162 points available - Door #10 - Q13 (2:02.625)

gtws-mc-rd1-racing.webp

I wasn't expecting to get held up in this car, but I was for both of my flying laps of qualifying, despite exiting to the pits in between. Oh well, Q13 is around where I expected to be anyways, so no point complaining.

Lap 1 was full of the usual chaos. I managed to stay out of it, that is, until we got to Casio Triangle, where I stupidly let my left rear tire touch the grass on the entry. Around I went. Came out dead last.

It didn't take me long to catch up to the car ahead, a Genesis X, but getting by was another story. I had the pace, but no opportunities. The only place this NSX has any advantage is in the esses, but there's no hope of making a move there. They finally made a mistake (or intentionally let me by) on lap 6. Thanks to some quitters and crashes, that got me to P12.

I pitted on lap 7 to switch from RMs to RSs. I was the first to pit. Came out in last place, with lots of clean air ahead.

But the clean air disappeared as I soon caught up to an AMG. They were clearly on RM tires but defending aggressively on every corner. My NSX being what it is (and being driven by who it was) struggled to find a way by despite the grip advantage. I figured at some point they'd have to pit, but they never did.

On the final lap, I made one last ditch effort to get by at T1, but ended up going wide and the AMG drove off.

I crossed the line in P12, but because the AMG never pitted I was promoted to P11 for 104 points. DR B progress down 1.8% to 84.0%. So it goes.

Do I really have to do three more races in this car?

GT2 EMEA - 19:00 Q4 P7

Last time I played GT7 was for the last Manufacturer while I skipped the Natuons being almost on vacation.

So my drive was quite rusty and I felt my mind very far from the previous habits about strategy and how to manage pressure.

However I qualified P4 with 2:01.003 with the Genesis X (sorry @Moose78 to shadow you again…) after have tried some different cars and at the end I liked how to control this car with the new physics just deployed.

I kept P4 for the first four laps when suddenly I lost control out of the hairpin in a very stupid way.
Now I am in P12 and being with soft I was able to recover some positions also because other went out by themselves.

Changed to Medium at lap 9 with still a more than 50% of the tires but I wanted to pit with some room around me.

I am now in P9 but after the other pits I moved to P6 and some laps before the end a Beetle passed me.
I could defend stronger my position by finishing in P6 or P7 was exactly the same for me.

I am still happy with the physics of the car but I have quickly recover the mindset of a racer otherwise I will go nowhere.

To all of you I wish clean races as mine.
Cheers.

Just a side note.

I found quite strange a championship of just 4 races (I have not so long experience) with a physics change done just 2 days before…

I am thinking that they have launched this championship to collect data from us, like a sort of beta testers.

The shorter duration of this championship sounds to me like “you race and we get quickly data to check some our stuff”…

(just a simple thought from a newbie)

It's not that uncommon, though it's been a while. These are all the 4-race seasons that I've participated in since I started doing GTWS races in 2023:

Likely will continue to pick Genesis, if only because I like the brand and my parents both own a model from them. Hopefully we’ll eventually get the Magma GT3, too! As for this first round, I wonder if there’s a chance of rain?

There’s likely no chance of rain, not with 2 mandatory compounds. I didn’t see any and no one else has mentioned it either.

A change of plans meant I could race in GT1, got in the first slot with 15 mins of practice and decided to go for the RSR instead of the GT3 Porsche - instantly in FP I could hit a 2.00, with a few more laps prob could have got to a sub 2 min time - was so much easier to drive than the NSX. Qualified 9th with a 2.00 something, did the RM - RS with pit on L11 again and brought it home 5th - was a completely different race to the GT2 in the NSX. For an MR car the understeer on throttle is terrible and the turn in isn't great either. I knew it wouldn't be the meta car but didn't expect it to be this bad!

Well that was an interesting and frustrating race. It was an interesting race because i had to play catch up a couple of times and frustrating because i made a couple of stupid mistakes to put myself there.

For this season i signed with Ferrari, and i raced in the final EU GT1 slot.

Qualifying wasn't the best and a i qualified down in P12.

Then during the opening laps of the race, laps 2 & 3, i went wide at T1 on both laps, which resulted me losing a place to the same Renault on both laps, but on both occasions i overtook the Renault again. Then at the start of lap 7 i lost a place to a Mazda which was on softs, i did manage to hold them up for 1 lap before they managed to overtake me.

Then at the end of lap 10 i was on the tail of 2 Porsche's and all 3 of us entered the pits to put on softs. Then when we exited the pits, the Porsche that was in front of me in P11 got a 3 second penalty, so they quit the race going into T1. Then i caught up to a Porsche, who was fighting with the Mazda who was now on mediums, then at the start of lap 12, i gained a place after the Porsche in P6 spun at T1.

Then towards the end of lap 12, the Mazda, Porsche and myself were bunched together, and the Porsche managed to make a move on the Mazda, then on lap 13, i managed to overtake the Mazda, by making a move up the inside going into Dunlop Curve. Towards the end of lap 13 i gained another position after a Corvette served a penalty, and i was now in P7.

Unfortunately, on lap 15, i ran slightly wide at Dunlop curve, and my tyres touched the grass which caused me to spin out, so i dropped all the way down to P12. So i spent the rest of the race catching up to the pack that was a couple of seconds down the road. I gained 1 position on lap 17, after the Mazda got pushed into the gravel at Dunlop curve by a Subaru, then i gained another position on the last lap, after the Citroen got a poor exit from degna 2, which allowed me to have the inside line going into the hairpin.

Then i almost gained another place at the end of the final lap when me and the Subaru went side by side into the final chicane, but unfortunately they had the inside line, so they closed the door going into the final part of the chicane. In the end i finished P10.

Not my finest hour. First race, I qualified Q10 with a 2:02.7 which wasn’t too shabby for a low B lobby. Starting on the weaker tire though did not give me much benefit as I lost too much pace to the remaining field to catch up.

I also had a couple of nasty off track excursions into the dirt too after messing up Degner 1. I finished where I started in P10 for 55 points.

Against my better judgement, I decided to go again. Qualifying did not go super smoothly and again landed in Q10 with a 2:02.7 in another low B lobby, a lower B which meant to improve on my points I would have to finish P2 or win.

I course corrected and started on softs which worked massively to my advantage, gaining through the field steadily with four passes and a couple folks who wiped out. I rode it out in P3 when it appeared good fortune was upon me on lap 7. The leaders must have collided in the latter half of Spoon as both were parked in sand off the track. I was now race leader.

Oh but that was far too optimistic. I held P1 all the way through lap 13 when I finally gave up on the RS. Emerging P2 seemed better than I could hope and especially when P1 pitted shortly after giving me the lead again.

I kept thinking these mediums are holding up extremely well and then it dawned on me when I set fastest lap on lap 15. I swapped for another set of softs. 🙈

I pushed as hard as I could to build a cushion for my unfortunate second pit at the end of 19. Something must have short circuited in my brain because in my rush to get it over with I miscued the controller and selected no tire change at all.

P2 on time was relegated to P10 after the 2:00 penalty….for 35 points. I decided last minute to try to go one more time and the game decided entry period was over despite showing 4 seconds on the clock.

In any case, it was fun racing and the second race despite the tire disaster proved I still have some competitive fight in me.

EU 21:00, GT1 league, Door 8, 178 pts

The Jag felt much better than expected at Suzuka this patch. Qualified P5 with a 1:59.8.
Race was really clean and fairly uneventful in the first half, making a few passes and being passed myself. Pitted late on lap 12 to put on softs and found myself comming out in p4. P1 messed up his pit, switching from RS to RS so he had to come in again. One pass later and I find myself in p2 at the start of lap 19, being closely followed by the pack behind.
Now I am feeling the nerves and pressure and I end up slightly wide in T1...

Brutal... Lost me 3 places.
Managed a good run on P5 coming into 130r on the final lap. We tried to go 2 wide, me being on the inside. I understeered into him pushing him off, so I waited before the chicane.
Finished p5 brining home a solid 148pts.

Going to have to abandon the Z4 for CGV. It’s just too slow everywhere but especially down the long straight. I’d be a sitting duck for 15 laps. M6 was nearly 1.5 secs quicker.

Regarding the new championship damage - I hit a wall during practice and damaged front end, wheel and engine. Wheel and engine repaired within half a lap but the front end damage persisted for 3 whole circuits with a noticeable effect on performance. Better stay away from the walls next weekend.

Well this was probably the biggest surprise I've had in GT7 since launch. Driving for Renault I held no hope of finishing this race in the top 5, due to the 1.71 physics change.

EMEA: Last Slot (same as @GT5Apex )
Team Renault
256 point A+ Lobby
Qualified: P9 1:59.887
Finished: P4 221 points

I took some early damage on lap 2 from a Lambo driver behind me on T1 but after thatI, just kept my head down and concentrated on keeping my nose clean, avoiding conflict for the rest of the race.

This tactic worked, as I picked up various positions throughout the race from other drivers mistakes.

My strategy of 11 laps on Mediums 9 laps on softs, worked perfectly. To bring me home in 4th place and 221 points. Currently the number 1 driver for Renault in EMEA and 99th overall.
(didn't see that coming).

The physics took some getting used to, but I learned on the job and began to get a grip of things as the race progressed. Good luck in round 2 fellas. I'll be rooting for you!

My replay link is below if anyone wants to check it out.

Had a few practices on CGV, best lap on the hards is 1:40.065 which feels too slow. Traction is not great especially on entry and coming out of 6-7. Think I probably need to try and find at least half a second off that to be competitive in mid GT2.

Optimal lap is a 1:39.120 which I think it better (bad middle sector on fastest lap)

And now for the evening race...

GT1 - Americas - 8 PM EDT - Genesis X GR3 - 161 points available - Door # 15 - Q5 (2:00.725)
gtws-mc-rd1-78-racing.webp

A huge difference between the Genesis and Honda. My qualifying time was nearly 2 full seconds faster, which landed me close to the front in Q5. I started on RMs to save the RSs for later.

I survived lap 1 this time. Lost a couple spots in the first half of the race to soft-runners, but otherwise held my own.

I pitted for RSs on lap 10, came out down a position behind a Viper that pitted a lap earlier. Crashes and penalties by other drivers handed me back some positions, though, and by the final lap I was back in P5 with worn RS tires and an Argentine Porsche hot on my heels.

We went into Casio Triangle side-by-side. I had the inside for the second part of it, which just allowed me to squeak by and hold P5 to the finish. 134 points and a 2.5% boost to my DR A progress, taking it to 12.7%. All-in-all a fun race.

Next up, CGV. No strategy. Just drive fast. Something tells me that is going to be a challenge in the NSX. Maybe the GT500 car will be viable...

Give the M3 a go

All drA and srA/S
Door 14, q3 (2:00.4xx)

Very surprised with my quali position. Never thought I would placed that high.

Went for a 12 RM - 8 RS and it was very mixed on the grid (p2 soft p1 med). The front row drove well on the first lap which helped them build a slight gap to me but I managed to defend well against the cars behind me. Even pull a move on the run towards 130r on lap 3. Had a better run in spoon and got on the inside on the back straight.
20970864963005805.webp

My aggressive move cost the guy behind another place which helped me stay clear of them (they were 4 cars all fighting together). Sadly eventually someone got sick of me and pushed me and spun me in the hairpin. (They didn’t even get a penalty 🙃). Dropped to p10
20970936106445197.webp

On my drive back and in the pit stop phase I clawed my way back to p6. The car ahead was 15 seconds in front but sadly spun in turn 2 putting him 2 seconds in front of me. His spun compromised his run in the s and I got the gap to around 1 sec. He then outbreaked himself in the final chicane which gave me a run to turn 1. An aggressive move on the inside meant I got p5.
20970925542859434.webp

He then caught back in the Dunlop curve and got on my insides in degner 1. We both decided to brake early and be careful.
20970776624762342.webp

His line compromised his run in the second degner were I managed to get on his outside in the hairpin. Very respectful racing with the guy has he left me space on the outside on the exit. (He was also the pole sitter)
20970071068592757.webp

This gave me a run towards spoon where I parked the car on the apex’s and the overtake was done. He sadly spun again a lap later. This was lap 19.
I finished the race p5 for a respectable point haul. Decent results on my gt1 debut.

See ya in Montreal 😉

Not sure if new model but the hards start getting a bit more useful after 4-5 laps, probably takes that long for them to warm up.

If that's the case and there's rain it'll make for some wild races especially if it's cold hards on a drying track from wet start
