the picture is not fake. it was one of the first screen shots shown. along with that was a picture of a Viper GTS-R concept parked in what looked like an industiral track.

It's not a fake but it's not a screen shot either, it's a promotional render.
 
ya, most games these days do them to give the audience an idea of what they want the final game too look like.
 
Well why bother making a super cool render nice and smooth and all and not have the final game not look that smooth and good... I mean GT4 looks like it would have great graphics but like that viper, GT4 proably wont ever look that good, ya know what I mean..
 
I don't have my PSM Magazine DVD with GT4 on it right now. So I am not able to share my views any further. The best guess is that it is 3D, despite my last claim. I don't think the PS2 is a powerhouse, to the point where the most unfathomable effects are made possible.

I think Cobra started this thread, so I just want to continue talking about it. The Grand Canyon scares me to race on. I don't have Prolouge, but I remember the endless videos of the Grand Canyon track. The track is visually impressive and even scary if you feel that each time you're on the edge that you'll fall off track. Of course, possibly the only game I can remember where going off track to a disappointing loss was... I forgot the game, but it was a game with fictional cars by Eutechnyx and endorsed by Car and Driver magazine. It was as old as 1996 or 1997. Anyhow, you could fly off track or drown in water.

Anyhow, I was unsure about "3D or 2D?" so I said 2D. I'm thinking 3D because I'm sure you can't get the detail in GT4 in 2D. So 3D gives you a lot. And as long as you know what you're doing at the 3D Modelling department, the game will have an impressive 3D environment. So this is a different take from my last post. Cobra, not to be mean (heh... unlike MOST of the people who responded here), but you'd mgiht as well ask PD how they did the Canyon view. Again, not to be mean.
 
Hey you have your opinion, but it would be cool if you could fly of the track :lol: But I do think KY stated that he wanted to do it but car manufacturers wqouldnt let him, but oh well, the Canyon looks great and I could belive some of it being 3D but not all, around the track yes, but for the further away parts its deff 2D in my book.... But that my opinion, but oh well it looks great and I personally cant wait to race on it.. :D
 
I got that Need for Speed collection for PC. And a game I been wanting to play from the past I finally have. Need for Speed 2 SE. And let me tell you, there are parts of some tracks where you can overshoot corners and fall out of the level. This is especially true with the track "Mystic Peaks," a fictional open-road course in Nepal. I even flown off track and dove in the water at "Last Resort," this ficitious Mexico track.

Of course, car manufactuters won't be happy with drivers taking cars way off the track. However, if such a thing were to take place, at least don't show any car-nage. "Car-nage" meaning, how your car gets mangled and screwed up.

BTW, NFS2 SE is pretty fun. All or most of the cars are old or still around. The Ford Indigo is the best handing car in the game. The McLaren F1 is as pure of a racer as the Ferrari F50.
