Has there even been any news of extra content for the ps3 yet? it would seem strange to leave out the system that arguably has more potential

Small Details from GamePro Germany

  • There will be several different animation sets for breaking into a car, so far we know one of them includes Niko breaking the glass of the window with his elbow, then starting the car using the injection cables. We know there probably isn't a lot of different other ways Niko can do this, but we suspect it will involve dynamic animations, and for instance Niko sometimes becoming suspicious in the middle of hotwiring a car, looking around to see if anyone suspects what he's doing, then continuing. Rockstar previously said they want the animations to look less "canned", so this would fit well with that goal.
  • According to the article, Rockstar are using less non-realistic elements than previous GTA games, such as arrows and markers assisting and indicating things to the player. We already know the in-game mobile phone will play a big part in replacing some of these things, so perhaps we might see other helpful gadgets such a GPS system, though that is just speculation.
  • One of the ideas going into development is to give every street in the game a name, which could be displayed on-screen when you enter it by foot or car. This feature is yet to be decided on, along with the previously revealed information piece about Rockstar still deciding whether the entire city will be accessible from the start, or if different areas will be inaccessible by way of cordoning off bridges and such.
  • When R*'s Dan Houser was asked about the differences between the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, he replied saying that it is their goal to have none, and that there are no platform preferences, both are difficult to develop on. For now, we take this as to have nothing to do with the extra downloadable content.
  • Speaking of which, he further says that they're not sure what exactly will be offered through additional content downloads. He says that maybe some things will be free, and others offered at a price.

Well, if the X360 and PS3 versions will be the same holds true, then I'll just go for the 360 version, just because of the achievement points... Although, I hope they release a demo on both consoles just to make sure there isn't any graphical differences.

I don't know how they would develop the game for both systems without there being some differences. It seems to be impossible.

Thank god for no arrows and markers. I hope things like weapons don't hover and you don't have eye-sore icons floating around, either.

I must say I also like the idea of every street having a name. 👍

An extra $30 for a duffel bag and a keychain? No thanks.

Don't forget:
  • Production artwork book
  • Metal safety deposit box (metal container with a cheap lock I imagine)
  • Selected soundtrack CD

I'd get it for the artwork, too. I'm too much of a GTA nut not to. I'll echo *McLaren* and say that I'd like to see it all in a preview first.

4 new screenshots and all of the magazine screenshots and artwork posted here!

From the looks of it, there will a lot more traffic and foot-traffic, which is definitely awesome. Also, keep in mind some of the screenshots are a little blurry.

I love how you can see every indent on Niko's face and even the veins on his hands. And although the game may not be horizontally bigger than San Andreas, it will apparantly be very substantially larger height-wise.

Enjoy!

Indeed, I hope it gets even busier.

I don't know why but when I see the screenshots it reminds of Shen Mue on the Dreamcast. I think it's the colouring.

If the streets are as populated as they look in those pictures I think we're going to have to be careful when driving. In another GTA's you could cut a corner and kill a few pedestrians and it wouldn't matter.

Definetly, with the new physics as well, it may take more than a car going 30MPH to kill a pedestrian too. And the graphics, it'll make it harder to watch yourself mow down sidewalk goers.

Goddammit so what are some us who already pre-ordered the game through Amazon.com are supposed to do now? I ain't paying another $100 for a speacial edition game when I already have the original. :indiff:

DAMN!:banghead:

EDIT: I just wanna know, where can you pre-order it?

I guess I'll tell EB to change my preorder to the SE when I go get Forza 2 on Wednesday.

Some American Xbox magazine apparently printed that you could open the boot/trunk of cars, if this is true it provides excellent opportunity's

We also noted how, when Niko approached a parked sedan from behind in preparation to carjack it, an interface prompt approached in the upper-left corner of the screen: "Press LB to open boot." Boot, of course, is the British term for "trunk," leading us to wonder just what we might be able to stash in the backs of our cars-weapons, bombs, kidnapped people? Or even more interestingly, what we might discover in other people's boo-er trunks? For the moment Rockstar isn't saying.

^ That was a written copy of someone with the magazine but claims they can't scan it.

It's out on GTA4.net, too. It's something that Rockstar didn't want to give away, and aren't commenting on it, but they let it slip during the demo.

There was also news a few days ago that there will be four different camera angles in-vehicle - one will be an almost first-person view, from the top of the hood, as can be seen in some racing games.

Look at the orange car in front of the second cab, is it just me or did it try to go against the steel columns of the bridge?

If you look real close, you can see that the taxi rear ended the orange car in front of it. (it appears to have anyway)

Wait, an in-car view? With first person?

Flippin' sweet! Man, this game is going to freakin' blow the competition away.
