Or the Faggio. Come on now, guys, it's pronounced "Fah-gee-oh".
New tidbits:
- A thin green band around the minimap on your HUD indicates your health. (Could a second band be added to indicate armor?)
- Physically, Liberty City is not as big as San Andreas. It covers approximately 3/4 the total area that San Andreas did.
- Software glitch or innovative gameplay? During the final bit of the game that PSM got to see, Niko is killed by a police copter landing on his head.
- Playstation Magazine confirms the [default] camera angle shift in GTA IV. Your view is no longer stuck hovering over the vehicle. When you get behind the wheel, the camera drops down and to the left, following the middle of the road.
The seasons/calendar sounds very cool, as does the in car GPS system.
I was wondering about that but forgot to post my thoughts.
Test Drive Unlimited displayed the same image your GPS showed on your car's navigation system, if it had one. Now, I would not want to try and navigate it that way unless of course they included a way to focus on the screen and zoom in.
This is all assuming that we have an in-car camera. What other purpose would having GPS in your car do? Otherwise it would just be a another pop-up on the HUD.
There will be an in-car camera view available, otherwise the in-car GPS system would be rather useless.
I knew I had read that, but that latest preview said that the camera will automatically lower and follow the middle of the road. Wasn't there news of a hood view also, or am I thinking of a different game.
ediit: I should read more - it recommends a route to you. But wouldn't that be pointless after you've played the game enough and you're just going to take any shortcuts you can?
I don't remember that being stated. Can you link me to where that was said? Because that would be awesome if it were true. I'm not so sure, though..TSThe default camera view will lower and follow the middle of the road, but just like in past games, you can adjust views too, one of them is in car.
But it sounds like a new "feature" that's not really a new feature. They've just taken the old HUD map and renamed it and added something that other GTA-clones have already had - pointers that recommend what direction to take to help you learn your way around the map. (from what I remember, Scarface and Driver 3 would flash arrows to tell you which way to go)It does after you've played for a while, but because Liberty City is all new in GTA:IV, you'll need some help getting around when you first play.

KM.

I'm having slight trouble with this GPS system thing, too. I agree with KM - it seems as if it would just be the same as the mini-map, but with a recommended route feature included.
In car view would be a cool addition to the game although it isn't needed.
Sorry for being a total noob, but how will the GPS system work? Links with information?
It does say "in the car", but I think that's not to be taken as a literal statement. Just like the radio is "in the car", but you see what you are changing the radio to outside of the car.myself on the last pageThere is a GPS system in the car, and the recommended route shows up in yellow on the radar at the bottom left of the screen.
I didn't see anything about an in-car view. From memory, when the information was released originally about the camera/view, I believe it was stated that there was no in-car view. In fact, I remember in one of the magazine previews, they said there were four camera views for in the car, and explained all of them. One of them not being an in-car view.
Sorry if I sound a little harsh in disagreeing with you, I don't mean to be, I just don't think there is going to be an in-car view.
I think you might have misread the information. It does say "in the car", but I think that's not to be taken as a literal statement. Just like the radio is "in the car", but you see what you are changing the radio to outside of the car.
It does, however, sound like a simple mini-map with a recommended route. I hope we get a little more information on that..
Also, one of the sites that were allowed a preview jotted down some of the ads he heard on the radio while in the car. You can read some dialog here.
Not sure what you read, you might want to read that quote from Take-Two's press release a little closer.Well that's a kick in the go-nads for PS3 owners.
Take-Two is reducing its fiscal 2007 guidance primarily to reflect the movement of the launch of Grand Theft Auto IV for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from the fourth quarter of fiscal 2007 to fiscal 2008, due to additional development time required to complete the title.
