I might buy the limited edition. Not because I want or need the extra stuff to use, but in years to come they'll be collector's pieces. Box 'em up and put them in storage, have them as keepsakes in 20 years from now.

I pre-oredered the limited edition a few months ago. Thought I might as well since it wasn't that much more than the standard version, I mostly wanted the art book. Have always loved the GTA art. 👍

You still didn't listen to my point about the entire thing....sigh.
No, I get your point. You don't need it, and think that the items are poor quality even though you've never seen them in the flesh, so that automatically makes them crap.

Despite this flawed thinking, there are 2 quotes above you from people who don't think its crap. As I said before, people are not going to buy this stuff just to use it, they'll buy to keep as a collector's item.

So, go ahead. Buy that 50 cent duffle bag (from a thrift store), and 10 years down the road, we'll see which duffle bag is still worth an actual dollar.
Like I said, you don't have to use it. Rockstar intended for these to be collectable items for you, not your gym bag.

EDIT*
The intro has been leaked as well as other videos! But I HIGHLY suggest you do not post them. Rockstar is in full force looking for anyone who posted them on YouTube with a ban.

I've had two e-mails in the last 24 hours from someone trying to show me the leaked gameplay video. I'm not going to watch it as I want to get that first play experience on the day.

Take Two are removing them from YouTube pretty fast. I found one that worked, but I'd really don't want to watch some crappy low-res camcorder filmed intro sequence. Come next Tuesday, I'll hopefully have my copy bought, I'll put my disc in, enjoy the intro, and prepare for a marathon gaming session.

All you guys with the Niko avatars are really throwing me off. You might as well be the same person.

Well, I have been playing it for about a day and a half straight now and all I can say is wow. When you guys sit down to play this you are going to completely lose all sense of time and reality and just be drawn right into the game like nothing else has ever done before. I'm playing the 360 version, but my copy doesnt have a functioning multiplayer component. :/
So is there an install option when you first start the game?

I suppose multiplayer won't be enabled until official release?

Ok, i was thinking you were getting this because it came with this crap thinking, oh wow i can have a keychain to use and a duffle bag etc. If your getting it just to have and collect then thats great. Myself, i don't see it being worth anything in the future so im not getting it. The only special edition anything ive got before that is now worth something is when i bought a special edition Tool cd that came with a record with a print on the record. On a side note here, i was reading that the IRS now see's video investors as well, investors. There are fine lines between what makes you an investor as to a collector. But, in this case if you bought the special edition and didn't open the packaging (if it has any) for the special items you could write off the entire thing on your taxes, it would be a business expense so to speak.

Way too much information is starting to get leacked (which always happens a week before a game is released) so with that said, its time to leave the forums. People are going to start posting spoilers like crazy and it will just ruin the game. So I will see everyone after the game is released on the 29th. **unsubscribes and steps away from the GTA4 forums**

I don't want to know too much either, the less the better. It has happened to me before with games, I find out stuff that I wish I hadn't.

Haha, I noticed that too. I changed mine. :D

I'm going to stop visiting the forums now aswell, there are too many new threads being posted and I'm sure by Sunday someone out there will have completed the single player missions and posted a spoiler somewhere.

Just out of interest Rumple, how did you get your copy?

Here's an unexpected piece of news:

GTA:IV PS3 preorders outnumbers Xbox360 preorders 3 to 1 in British supermarket chain:
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/868/868765p1.html

Thats quite interesting!... really surprised but I guess its a good thing for PS3 👍

If it was like this everywhere MS would be beating themselves for forking out millions for exclusive content only for people to ignore them and go with the PS3 version...

Until the new GT comes out i don't even have a reason to purchase a PS3. There isn't a single game out for it yet that looks good enough for me to purchase that chunk of expensive decor. Its pretty sad that there aren't any really decent games yet, the system has been out for a good while now. Im not one of these, "sony" or "xbox" fanboys either. I like whatever gives me what i want to play, not what brand it has on it. Before when it was just PS2 and xbox, i only had a PS2 because xbox didn't have anything for me. Then Halo 2 came out and i liked it so xbox i had then. Same thing is happening with the PS3 and 360 now, only the roles have reversed.

That could also be due to GTA IV being bundled with the PS3....Just a thought, though.
Is there a PS3/GTA bundle being sold? I didn't know that.

It's very surprising because there's currently twice as many 360s on the market (about 20 million vs. 10 million I think) as the PS3, so you'd expect the sales to be roughly 2-1 in favour of the Xbox 360.

edit: Yes, I did a quick google search and there is a PS3 bundle being sold with GTAIV. I'm surprised that Microsoft either hadn't foreseen or known about this and came out with a bundle of their own.

I think MS is trying to still use the DLC as a persuasion tactic.

Yes, but I think a bundled pack displayed in stores would shift more 360s than exclusive downloadable content. Apart from internet and GTA nerds, how many people are aware of the downloadable contact and how will it really affect the average gamers decision to buy a 360 or PS3?

The exclusive content I think will definitely help their cause, but I think it's going to be very interesting to look back in six months at how PS3 and 360 sales have gone and how much the game has sold on each system.

Thats what I was thinking, if your the average consumer and 'not in the know' about these things such as exclusive DC you may go with the PS3 bundle (if you haven't already got console) because it works out cheaper.

Some people don't buy into this exclusive DC stuff, as long as the game the same core content as everyone elses they are happy.... plus I bet you anything that this DC will cost money... this is M$....its sure not gonna be free!! :sly:

Either way it will be interesting to see how the sales go each way a few days after launch... I have an incling that the PS3 will get more sales in europe whilst 360 will dominate in the US.

Robin.

I'd be very surprised if the Microsoft exclusive content was free. I expect to pay for it, and I've heard rumours that the mission packs will be about as long as the Vice City Stories or Liberty City Stories main mission. And if I have to pay €10 for that, I will gladly. Free content is nice, but €10 for a 10-20 hour mission pack is still great value for money and worth it if you're the kind of player who will still be playing the game in September when it's out (and I intend to be).

But how many Xbox players will still be playing it in 5 months from now - enough to justify a €50 million investment by Microsoft? That remains to be seen.

What ever happened to all this talk about PS3 would get its own extra content?, just not the exclusive stuff MS has signed... Im pretty sure Rockstar said something like the PS3 would get extra missions but they would either be different or less than the 360 version.

Also im wondering if this exclusive deal is a timed exclusive i.e. 2 years or something after the PS3 will get all that content anyway???

Robin

Myself i really get bored with the missions and just start doing whatever i want in the game, so the extra cash for more missions won't effect me at all. I would love to see more cars and weapons that will be able to be purchased. I still play SA to this day if im just sick of COD4 for a bit. I do the same thing in SA as i do in COD4 though, just run around and kill...lol.

I'm sure many people will still be playing this game long after 5 months. I mean, the Free Roam in MP alone, is enough to create people's own games. Plus, Rockstar will be back in their offices by then creating something that could be added to the game, besides the DLC.

There's now a live feed available on the net.
