So, to answer my own question, it seems that no, there isn't any evidence to suggest that the Xbox360 version will be a third the size of a supposed 20Gb+ PS3 version or that the downloadable episodic content for Xbox360 will be in order to compensate for the system's capabilities.

Yeah. I'm expecting, as it's been said, that both versions will be practically identical. Much the same as the PS2 and Xbox versions of the previous games, with the only differences really being smoother gameplay and slight, minor additions on the more superior of the two.

I'm still interested to hear all about this episodic content, and what exactly it might be, though I'm sure Rockstar and Microsoft are planning to keep this secret until release date to ensure people buy the Xbox 360 and the Xbox 360 version and don't make judgements on whether they really need it or not..

Though I suppose, for $50 million, it'd want to be something of large interest..

The first time I heard of the episodic content I got the impression that it would be free downloadable content. But now I hear it's to be paid for? I don't mind, as long as it's something really worth paying for like a whole new set of missions and new cars/characters etc.

Just some quick Rockstar news, non-GTA 4 related, but interesting nonetheless. "Manhunt 2 has been banned by the BBFC and will not be sold in the United Kingdom."

Hopefully this doesn't further taint their view of Rockstar Games and harm the release of GTA 4, though I'm fairly confident it won't.

What makes you think GTA4 won't be banned there if Manhunt 2 was?

Well, there's some speculation that these content packs will be sizable – something like the Stories GTA games that are on the PSP, and they'll probably be at least $20 a pop, possibly $30 since Shivering Isles set the limit of what's acceptable. I doubt they'd be just a few side missions and a new shirt.

I'm guessing we'll hear what it'll be at E3.

If the content includes a lot of vehicles, missions, weapons, and more, I'd be more than willing to pay for a lot of content.

Well, in fairness, GTA has never been quite the violent setting Manhunt 2 was. If I remember correctly, Manhunt 1 was based more around a darker, more frightful setting when you had to kill the enemy, and when you did, it was much, much more brutal and violent than anything GTA forced you to do.

Of course, nobody in govt. ever bothers to read on what you're forced to and what you choose to do in the GTA. As long as you can sell porn to minors, and get warra...I mean points, for killing cops, that'll be enough to get the game "rightfully" banned.

Like McLaren has just said, it's nowhere near the brutality and graphicness of the Manhunt games, and I'd expect Manhunt 2 to somewhat surpass Manhunt 1, seeing as the brutality is what a lot of people buy the game for.

That, and I also expect GTA 4 to be a little more dignified in it's ways this time around. It's going to be a bit more real, but probably a lot less senseless, which I'm not saying was ever a bad thing, but if they decide to have a proper look at the game, they will probably decide Rockstar Games have taken a better step..

Or I could be completely wrong, but that's just a small expectation I have..

I've been thinking that'll be toned a bit down too. Not in terms, probably, of overall violence, but the way the game will allow you to carry it out.

I know San Andreas let you commit some pretty funny, almost unrealistic deaths sometimes, but I hope if it is toned down, they'll keep the funny, and ditch the unrealistic parts.

Because, imho, causing traffic accidents in SA was so much fun. It's something I hope they'll allow us to do in GTA IV. :D

Thank you both for the answers. I never played or even saw a screenshot of either Manhunt game. I just assumed it didn't get much worse than GTA.

I have Oblivion on PC and I bought the Shivering Isles pack a while ago. I haven't played it much yet but you get a lot of extra stuff. There's a whole new huge area to explore and a brand new set of missions and characters.

It'd be cool if the extra content included a new island or area to add to the city along with new cars/weapons/missions/etc.

"Rockstar have revealed in their latest email broadcast that next week's trailer, titled "Looking for that special someone", will go online at 12:00 PM EDT on 28th June. That's 5 PM in the UK, and 2 AM (June 29th) in Australia."

Good for most of us here. By the time we wake up and get around to playing computer, it shouldn't be too much of a heavy load. :D

In more Manhunt 2 news: "In more recent news regarding Manhunt 2, the American game rating Entertainment Software Ratings Board has rated the game AO, or 'Adults Only.' Both Nintendo and Sony refuse to sell AO games, so the adult content of the game will probably be lessened, and the release date will probably be delayed past July."

I just read Duck's link, and I must say it sounds brutal, if not over the top. They could release that version on PC. I've seen games just as bad on PC..

Yes it would. Throwing a decapitated cow's head filled with anthrax was fairly unnecessary.

But also fun.

No matter how average the graphics.

Looking like just the Xbox 360. There's also been no mention as far as I know about GTA IV on PC.

But it will probably happen in some way, some time down the track..

Not long now, guys. :D

I hope the next GTA:IV trailer Rockstar releases shows some gameplay or something. This last trailer wasn't anything that made me flip.

Nothing is confirmed on the official Rockstar trailer coming out on the 28th. However, some of the content coming out on Yahoo! (in conjunction with Rockstar Games) will depict action footage.

I've been watching Yahoo! games covering the whole GTA:IV game and never saw anything referring to that. I'll keep watching though, and I can't wait for trailer 2!

Holy crap, G4 just reported during a quick interview with Rockstar. I didn't catch everything, but here's somethings you may like or not like.

1-The game runs on an advanced time base. In other words, missions tie into the game's current time. If you miss a train for a certain mission, you'll fail.

2-The game will take advantage of next gen. Blood and gore are going to be in. The only example is that running over a pedestrian can leave very disturbing results....

EDIT*
Found the article
G4TV
No trips to the gym or other skill-building. Instead, stats will be increased through in-game antics.
Time will play a huge part in the game, with some missions seemingly only happening at specific intervals. Don't miss your bus!
The HUD is gone. You'll have to look for clues like disintegrating body armor to get an idea of how you're doing.
More realistic explosions and injuries. Cars won't explode unless you nail 'em with a rocket launcher and characters will react to gunshots like real gunshot victims--shoot a guy in the leg and he'll limp away, etc.
A slight controller vibration will signal every step.

Games Radar Article
More details on Rockstar's other, less controversial action game (who thought we'd ever be saying that?) have appeared on the net via the Turkish Official Xbox Magazine.

Among the new tidbits in the mag, the most interesting comments describe GTA IV's new time-based elements. Apparently, missions will be more thoroughly tied-in with the events of the world. For example - and hypothetically speaking - if you're tasked with catching a train and miss it, you won't be able to do that particular mission.

It all sounds a bit Majora's Mask. Explosions are also said to make an... erm, explosive return, with one mission based entirely around chain-detonating cars. Vehicles, however, only explode now when you bullseye them with a rocket launcher, rather than blowing up via a simple car crash.

Don't forget there's a brand new trailer rolling out next week as well.

Here's the full list of new info:

-There's a slight vibration with every footstep when you run

- The HUD has been removed. If you have armor, you actually have a bulletproof vest which visually deteriorates

- Flame throwers and rocket launchers are still in the game

- Niko doesn't get tired. You can run forever, it just wont be as fast as previously.

- Gore is back and better. Bullet wounds show, blood appears where you shoot people. Enemies limp if you shoot them in the leg and hold their arm if you shoot their arm. Apparently when you run someone over it's quite disturbing.

- No eating, girlfriends or keeping fit- but your skills do improve over time (driving, etc.)

Hmm...some great things...and some possibly bad things? NAH! They're all good to me. :D

This info has been circulating the internet for awhile now, apparently the rumour started by a member of Gamefaq then some xbox forum then spread around most GTA forums stating it came from a Turkish xbox magazine, countless threads have been made of it at GTA forums and they are being closed now. Just recently it started spilling on TV...

This reminds me of the large GT4 wishlist made here at GTP then websites started publishing it as an official car list.
