Haha yeah, that would be awesome be able to use it as a real life phone. I'm sure rockstar could make it possible, with a headset :)

Thanks for that Mouser! I'll try it out tonight 👍

when do you unlock Bohan? I never noticed it was unlocked until I went there on a mission, at which point I assumed it was open from the beginning...

oh, and it looks like you just talk during the game and everyone hears you, at least thats what happened during Casio and I's awesome game.
I'd tell you, but I don't know myself. I was given a mission from Little Jacob to go to Bohan, and when I checked the stats, it said I had 1 island unlocked.

It makes me wonder if there will be any radio announcements about the terrorist threat lowered or something later on for the other 2.

Not to mention doing good burnouts blow the tyres lol. This game is awesome..

Agreed!

I really love the fluid movements in the game, and the way the AI react to the enviroment.

The best decision RockStar made was to use NaturalMotion's Euphoria motion engine. 👍👍

If you haven't tried it yet. Get in a car, get a 1-star wanted level, then let a cop try and open your door to arrest you. If you time it right and slowly drive away, as long as you don't go too fast, he'll hold on to the handle while being dragged along the road. If you make a fast turn or speed up he'll lose his grip and fall off. Now look back and you'll see he will get up slowly, but now walks with a severe limp... incredibly complex physics motion engine.

 Euphoria

The new Indiana Jones game and the new Star Wars game, "Force Unleashed" also use the Euphoria engine... and you just know they are going to be unbelievably fun!

BTW: There are some decent videos showing off some of what the Euphoria engine can do on Gametrailers, click HERE to see some of them.

Weazel News reports on the news that the mayor unlocks one bridge, but not the other.

Just don't turn on your TV in your apartment....you'll be laughing for hours, especialy like the parody of "the rich and famous" amazeing where they keep there toy dogs LOL
Just like real life... the TV in GTAIV can get you hooked. :D

My favorite is the stand up routine by none other than Ricky Gervais. 👍

BTW: You can listen to him in the game being interviewed on the radio program "We Know The Truth" which plays on the WKTT talk radio station... it's hilarious! :D

On a darker note, had 2 freezes in a total of 7 ish hours play, 60 gig PS3 not launch machine, quick reboot saw it run fine on both counts, I have noticed I cant go online...."game server busy try again later" this happened all yesterday, I'll try again tommorow.
I'm using a launch 60GB PS3, and after about ten hours I have fortunately not experienced any freezes, but I'll let you know if I do, if it helps try and determine if it's an individual console issue, a specific model issue, or impacts all consoles.

Next time it freezes, try and remember exactly what you were doing when it froze. That way others, like me can try and replicate the same circumstances, and see if it freezes for us as well.

It's STILL not here. If it's taken 8 days since they posted it I think I'll just consider it's lost and I'll buy a copy from a store. If it does turn up tomorrow then I'll just sell it on at a loss (since Amazon take a chunk of the profit). I'll wait and see if it turns up tomorrow, if not then I'll buy it again...

It froze on me in the clothing store. But I can't wait till this weekend.

D-N we have to hook up and play.

Oh Omnis I as referring to the games i had before we met up, u guys have to get mics lol.

You can buy one and when the Amazon order arrives you can send it back and be refunded under the distance trading rules (online orders can be returned unopened/used within 7 days). You have to go on the Amazon site to print out a form (or something) but you're entitled to a full refund.

Anyway, I've played the PS3 version more and the look is growing on me. The weakest part of the 360 graphics is the oil paint effect you get from the dithering of the graphics, particularly in the distance. The PS3 is not as bad. Also the PS3 looks somehow more filmic. So I guess it's apples and pears really.
I am enjoying it but I'm a little disappointed at the small wardrobe. Only two pairs of glasses? Well, maybe it's better slimmed down but I like lots of choice.
No flamethrower which I miss! But the weapons sound pretty good now.
Long way to go yet even though I have opened up the last island.

GTAIV breaks UK retail records

Over 600,000 units shifted on first day of release; 55 percent of copies sold for Xbox 360 more than trebles record for day-one PS3 sales.

Wii Fit may currently top of the sales charts in the UK, but figures released by British sales-tracking body Chart-Track indicate that its reign will soon be over. Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV, which launched on April 29 to widespread critical acclaim, has set new records for UK sales in its first 24 hours of release.

Analysts had stated that GTAIV was destined to be "huge" and that's proving to be the case, in the UK at least. Figures from Chart-Track for the first day of the game's UK release, which are based on point-of-sale data and retailer estimates, show that approximately 609,000 copies were sold for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 combined. This beats the previous record for day-one sales, which was set by Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in 2004 with 501,000 PlayStation 2 units sold.

GTAIV also broke system-specific sales records for software on the Xbox 360 and PS3. Fifty-five percent of the copies sold were destined for Microsoft's console, with 335,000 units shifted in the first 24 hours. This beat the previous record of 266,000 copies, which was set by Halo 3 on 26 September 2007.

The PlayStation 3's previous fastest-selling game in the UK was Sony's Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, which sold 80,000 units during its first day of sales in March this year. GTAIV has "well and truly eclipsed" these figures, according to Chart-Track's director Dorian Bloch, with an estimated 274,000 copies sold in 24 hours.

Chart-Track says that it will continue to analyse the figures after the public holiday in the UK on Monday, May 5. Bloch told GameSpot, "Unless there is a real problem, and the lorries can't deliver the product, the first-week sales record is set to be trashed." The record for units sold in the first week is currently held by GTA: San Andreas, with 677,000 copies.

Seems like the sales on both platforms are neck and neck.. you would have thought there would be a much larger lead with 360 sales as there are more of them out there.

Yeah, that's a bit strange. I think the 360 has almost double the current install base of the PS3 so I would have expected sales to be roughly 2:1 in favor of the Xbox version.

It sold 4.2 millions in total on it's first day:
Day one sales for Europe and the Americas combined bring GTAIV to 4.2 million units worldwide, a staggering number, both in units and in revenue.

It's actually almost exactly 3:2 (18.5m : 12m). 360 used to have double the instal base thanks to significant head start, but the PS3 has been outselling the 360 pretty steadily world wide, so they have cut into that lead.

Still, it is surprising to see the sales so close, and 4.2 millions units sold in one day... that's intense!

Hopefully this means EA will have less of a chance to merge with Take Two and possibly screw up promising future RockStar titles like L.A. Noire.

Well it outsold Halo so that says something.

So the UK accounts for 14% of sales

Man, I feel really bad about killing Faustin. Has anyone not killed him? Like, is there a way to kill Dmitri instead?

It's been a few months since I saw the last sales figures, so things have no doubt changed since then.

Hopefully this means EA will have less of a chance to merge with Take Two and possibly screw up promising future RockStar titles like L.A. Noire.
It looks like an awesome game, at least the concept, but I've heard it might be a PS3 exclusive, and I don't have a PS3.

I don't believe there is a choice. You have to kill Faustin so you can meet the man who claims you owe money to in the warehouse.

I unlocked the 3rd island tonight, and doing missions for Playboy X & Dwayne. I have to say, so far, the game hasn't been easy, but it hasn't been stupidly hard either. Then again, like most GTAs, I encountered the harder missions when unlocking and working on the last island. Only 20% through.

Brucie is getting funnier by the minute!

I can't wait to kill him...

Brucie is the funniest character in any of the games so far. I enjoy meeting him for drinks or pool or whatever just to listen to his crazy hormone fueled craziness.

I've noticed that everyone online sounds garbled whereas Casio said I sounded fairly clear, I'm using a pseye on top of my tv about 5' away from the couch, perhaps that is the secret?

in other news the hookers and strip clubs are perhaps the most graphic I've seen in any game yet, regardless of the fact that there is no actual nudity

Like Mclaren said the game would have prompted you a way to save him or the option to execute him. I waited several seconds after the dialogue to somehow save him but gave up and did it

I like Little Jacob.

Yeah, Brucie and Little Jacob are among my favorites. Roman calls too much, sometimes, though.
And Michelle seems very easy to please. I know she likes bowling and pool, though. She wasn't too fond of the show in Broker, though.

Ahh!! I've been trying all day to get online, and I didn't succeed. I'm playing on the PS3, people are having this problem too, right?

I'm still loving this game, it's all the little details that make it so special! The backfiring thing is cool, but I think most people are confusing it with the flames spitting from the exhausts of the more powerful cars. Some of them will actually fully backfire and shoot out a cloud of proper smoke! I saw a car driving past me earlier do it.

Another little thing is how you have to stop at the tolls to pay them or you get a wanted level! Such a small detail but it really does make a difference, I always queue up and pay it unless I'm in a real hurry :D

And the physics engine is just superb. Seeing people tumble about the place as you hit/clip them with your car is strangely and disturbingly satisfying, as is shooting them through the window, or shooting their legs and watching them limp off screamin for help.

Or maybe I'm just disturbed?

I successfully played a 30 minutes deathmatch on Xbox Liuve tonight - I came 5th out of 16 players. Man, that's FUN! I've never been into online games before but a dozen guys just driving around and shooting and stuff, that was a blast!

You need to have subtitles on if you want to have any idea what Little Jacob's saying.

From watching my brother play, the game seems to have a very cool atmosphere. The whole thing seems very well put together. But I liked the openness of San Andreas, so I hope they come back to that idea later in the series.
