Yeh it's a patch to fix the freezing problem. Think there's discussion in the the other thread.

Regarding story mode about 40% into the game:

I did the bank heist mission last night, all I can say is WOW. Seriously awesome. It was very difficult to work my way down from 5 stars though, I wound up being way up in South Bohan by the time I lost the cops,

San Andreas was the only GTA game where cars could be customised so it's not like it's a regular feature in the series. I don't miss the feature at all, I thought it was a bit gimmicky and didn't really add much to the game.

I wish they'd removed the dating crap from the game. That's seriously boring.

One thing I am missing, or at least haven't found them if they're there, are the time trials and races that's been a regular feature like the Hotring races, PCJ Playground, etc. There's always been at least a few races and time trials like that in each game since GTAIII. The street races are still there, but I'd like a bit more variation.

I'm playing the game, and I can't help but think that you could do more things in San Andreas than in this game. There even seems to be less weapons now.........I want the Katana back :grumpy: There also seems to be way less cars, less vehicles in general actually. All you can do in GTAIV is the missions and some dating. There aren't really any other mini games or side missions to speak of. Can you even do vigilante missions or firefighter missions etc.?

Well there you go. Took its time to download 18MB though

You have to keep in mind that SA already maxed out a DVD's data capacity, and seeing as they were limited to keeping GTAIV on a DVD rather than Blu-ray, it was obviously going to mean a loss in the amount of gameplay in favor of better physics and graphics.

Granted, they could have made it bigger by releasing the 360 version with multiple discs, but in a non-linear game like GTAIV, pausing the game to swap out discs every few minutes is not likely going to go over well with gamers.

Until the 360 comes out with a Blu-ray drive that supports games, or allow those 360 owners with large enough drives to install games onto their HDD using multiple install discs, developers will have to be forced to either limit the size of their games for multi-platform releases, release different versions for the 360 and the PS3, or just release them for the PS3.

Prior to the release of the 360 developers were already maxing out DVD 's capacity and currently there are already several games for the PS3 that far exceed DVD capacity, so this isn't a future issue, it's happening right now.

I'm guessing Microsoft had hoped their digital distribution model would be up and running by now and that 360 owners would be able to simply download the games that exceed DVD capacity... the problem is even if it were, of the 20+ million 360's out there I suspect the vast majority of them have only a 20GB HDD, and probably a large margin have no HDD at all. Basically MS is in a tough spot right now in terms of future big title releases.

Of all the Live or Die situations, I've only actually killed Vlad.

What's wrong with me? :S

I don't think that including the code for the firefighter, paramedic, time trials etc. would have added much to the games size. Some audio or other data could have easily been sacrificed if disc space was an issue, and adding some extra side missions would have been worth it.

Is it just me or is the radio a let down? I wish it would just play mp3s.

I'm not crazy about the radio and I wasn't crazy about it in San Andreas either.

I usually just set it to the rock station whenever I get into a car. Jazz fusion, reggae, electronic crap, etc. No thanks,

Yeah, I agree. They repeat themselves more and the music isn't particularly good. Nothing like the other GTA games with classic music tracks.

Yes as I've said I think they sacrificed gameplay for graphics. I thought SA looked fine and they could have just smoothed it over a bit and just added on from that. They tried to make GTA look more real, which is fine but I think the real bread and butter of the game series was being able to do all that extra stuff.

And the patch didn't fix my freezing problem, so I'm starting to think it is the PS3 since it's freezing on GT5P and Lego Star Wars. But I'll post that in another thread.

I really agree with this, it's starting to get on my nerves having people call me to go bowling, or eat, or whatever.

I'm grateful they removed the stupid gym and having to eat "features" from San Andreas, but why put something else equally annoying in? Oh well, the rest of the game makes up for it.

I also agree with this. I usually tune it to Liberty Rock Radio or sometimes The Vibe, otherwise it's off. Just like it was in San Andreas, LCS and VCS.

The music isn't as good as GTA:SA IMO, but it's still well above average. Definately love the Reggae, Dancehall and Electro stations.

I think game reviewers went overboard with handing out 10/10's to GTAIV. It's kind of like David Archuletta on American Idol...not that I would know anything about that.

At least in San Andreas, you could pretty much ignore the dating crap and just get on with the things that Grand Theft Auto is meant to be about. At worst, you'd just lose favour with your girlfriends, but you didn't have the annoying hassle of getting phonecalls all the damn time when you're busy doing something else.

The clothes, tattoos, custom cars, etc. isn't missed by me at all. San Andreas would have still been just as great a game without it all, and actually improved by removing annoying crap like the food and gym. But I agree that they could have at least replaced the "features" that they didn't include from San Andreas with some good fun stuff - a selection of time trials, Hotring races, rampages, paramedic missions, taxi missions etc.

The GTAIII taxi missions were fun because the taxi was fast and handled well. Vice City's taxi was worse and therefore less fun, and San Andreas was worse again. But I like the taxi in the current game and it would be fun to do some missions. It was one of the best ways to learn the layout of the cities in previous GTA games.

Yup, I agree. I think it's a really great game and deserves some very high scores in reviews but some of the praise was over the top.

A couple of the reviews I read mentioned that one of the good things was that Niko was more agile and more physical than previous characters because he could climb walls and fences etc. But CJ could do the exact same things, which was one of the things that San Andreas really improved on previous games, haven't these reviewers actually played the games they're saying it's better than?

Also, they've again praised the damn stupid autoaim system which is still ****ed. I failed a mission 4 times in a row tonight all because Niko won't autoaim at an enemy who's behind him. On each occasion I ran up stairs into a room which had enemies behind me, but got shot to hell and even if I survived, I had very low health and didn't last much longer. Either improve the autoaim or don't design missions where you run into an area with enemies shooting at you who you can't see and can't autoaim at!

edit: In my opinion it gets praise not for being revolutionary but because it's another GTA game that's very well made. Even if it treads over familiar grounds, the previous games were that good that simply doing the same with better graphics and some minor improvements is still worthy of praise.

I agree with you guys, the radio sucks, too many stations that I dont want to listen too, and with less songs, another complaint is that you can't just turn off the radio by choosing the stations (last one is off) you actually have to go to the start menu and turn it off there.

I have a question. How do I get the circle back over my "crosshair"? I did an online game yesterday, and for some reason it, it was just a tiny dot which made it impossible to free aim.

Now, when I go into SP, all I have is that tiny dot without the circle that shows their health bar around it. Need to find an answer soon, or otherwise, MP won't be worth playing when I can't see where I'm shooting.

Anyone?:guilty:

Nah you don't, hold down the left or right button on the d-pad and it switches off 👍

I must say i do miss heli checkpoint, taxi , firefighter and paramedic missions, not only the missions but the perks you got with it.

Fireproof / armour spawns / extra health etc etc.

Ive done all the 30 wanted criminals and soon i will have done the 20 vigilante criminals and as far as i can see you get nothing for it..

Where are the rewards for doing things?

Also i hope once i do all the races it becomes easier to select which one you want to do....

Anyone else actually live Vladivostok? It's actually kinda cool music sometimes.

BTW if you after some quick cash, blow up a securicar and along with the 2 star wanted level you also get about $2000 in cash lying around near it.
