I play this game sometimes online, it is fun. But it does get boring kind of quickly.
Last night I was playing so good, it was a team deathmatch(3v.3) in Happiness Island SMGs only. The other two players on my team left so it was me versus the other three guys, I dominated them. I got 47 kills and 3 deaths. When we returned to the lobby the kids thought I was hacking. I just have my tactics, lol. :) If they payed close attention on how I play they would've easily copied my tactics.

Each to their own I guess. I barely touch single player, but I have a right laugh on the online modes 👍

Yeah same here. I love the free roaming multiplayer and will be playing this for a long time. Its pretty much what I have been asking for since the GTA series started. I always wanted to explore the entire city with friends along with pedestrians, cops, helicopters, bikes, boats, trucks, and all the cars. And they did exactly what I wanted. 👍

I've been wanting to try this game online. I unfortunately don't have Gold but do have a few 48hr trials. Lately I've been entertaining myself with little rampages/chases and with the swing glitch. :D

I tried to find a game online last night...

Game 1 - race. 9 people. Host failed to click "ready", 6 people quit over the next 2 minutes. Quit.
Game 2 - Team Deathmatch. 6 people. 5 quit within a minute of the start. No shots fired.
Game 3 - Deathmatch. 5 people. 4 quit within 20 seconds of the start. No shots fired.

After 30 minutes of trying to find a game, I went to play some Beginner GT5P online (to get back into the swing) instead and found myself wishing for an AK47.

Argh I know, I do agree that recently even at peak times it's been so difficult to get a game with more than a few other players. Often the hosts are idiots too and, for example in a race, they'll do the same format race after race so even if you do have 16 people in the game, 12 of them leave after a few races from boredom. Some game modes don't get any players at all.

Yet I've played the game on my gf's brother's 360 and there are always 10+ players whatever game mode you choose.

There are always a lot of people playing the 360 version. There are so many people in fact that lieve its still the top 3rd played xboxlive game. Oh wow I just noticed Halo 3 was back at the top again.

Sucks to hear your having a hard time with the PS3 version.

Any one knows if its possible to do replay in GTA4 (ps3) ?

What exactly to you mean??

I've had problems getting into good games at times (on PS3) but most of the time it is a blast-- would help if more people got head sets so if you are waiting for more players you could explain to everyone what you are waiting for... or at least a way to post a online message-- I will admit, I get impatient waiting for the next race to start at times and have when the host won't start a game-- in the same respect, if you get a race up over 10 players, go ahead and start-- 10 is plenty and great fun for a GTA race-- I've only been in a handful of 16 player games.

ah sorry for not being clear, replay as in replays for race games, so you can save if something amazing happens so you can look at it later ... :)

because doing a 'carchase' using the cinema look is almost impossible so would be cool if there is a replay? :p

Nope nothing like that in GTA4. Sure wish more games utilized that feature just like Halo 3. Take pics and videos from anything that happens then share them with your friends.

Yep I wish for that too. The PS3 should be able to save any replay and actually have a SEND option for your other PSN friends to watch and not need to get a catpture card and youtube :scared:

You can always hook the outputs to a VCR, DVD recorder, or DVR--- an option on the PS3/xbox would be nice with the hard drive just sitting there

I can record my playstation feed but its impossible to do something on cinematic view as i will crash into everything haha. Thanks for clearing it up. :)

Also noticed lot of GTA 4 videos are being deleted from youtube by take 2 :/

They can, but it is up to the developer of the game to impliment it.

I'm hoping they will also add this feature to video clips captured by the PS Eye. 👍

Played it for the first time today. Not enough time to get a definitive opinion on it (spent most of my time just driving around playing with the physics engine), but it looks pretty good.

Got very old very quickly. I haven't played it since i finished it which was over a month ago or so.

In terms of longevity i don't think GTA4 is any different to the earlier games. After the main story is finished there might not be as much to do as San Andreas but for me, that extra stuff was mostly stupid anyway and though i played the crap out of S.A, i still never did half that extra stuff.
Its like any game, you play it to death when its fresh and new, then if its a good, strong game, you come back to it periodically. For me, there is enough good stuff to keep me playing GTA4 periodically (i did take a big break from it after i finished the story and when MGS4 came out).

Look forward to hearing your further impressions. I've been thinking about the game recently, and the conclusion I've come to is that it's not a worse game than San Andreas, but it certainly isn't a better one either. They've improved it in a lot of areas but it's a pity they've taken so much out.

From a mission play standpoint-- SA was better (a greater variety of missions-- types of missions)-- I could never get into SA's story though and if it is possible, SA is too long-- I played it to 100% once-- started it over and only got up to the San Fierro missions before I lost intereste-- couldn't find the motivation or the time to finish it a 2nd time...

IV is good though-- the story could have been better-- if not for the Multiplayer, IV would be alot lower on my favorites list... Multiplayer is awesome still.....

The multiplayer....i still don't see what everyone goes on so much about it for. What in the multiplayer is so great? Is it just because its GTA with multiplayer? I got really bored of it after 2 or 3 sessions, tried all the modes also. I liked the crooks and cops one the best though. It would be fun if it were just a bunch of friends and all. One thing that was annoying was you always showed on the map.

I cant even comprehend getting bored of it when you have all of this in the online multiplayer. I think the multiplayer in GTA4 is quite innovative for a sandbox style game. Overall I am quite happy with GTA4. The single player is missing a lot of fun stuff like parachutes, buying houses, buying cars, customizing cars, and character customization. But the multiplayer makes up for that.

Here is what you can do in the GTA4 multiplayer.

16 players thru the entire city including helicopters, boats, bikes, cars, trucks, pedestrians, and cops. You can select individual islands to play on or you can play with every island open if you want. You can turn cops on or off, turn pedestrians on or off, set the amount of pedestrians or traffic on the street or none, put whatever weapons you want, set spawn time and spawn distance, time of day, weather, just about anything along with 15 total multiplayer game modes including some that are 4 player co-op missions. You can even set up online races with boats, cars, trucks, bikes, helicopters, police cars, SWAT trucks, and even firetrucks. lol I have hosted matches with the entire game open and also hosted matches with only shotguns at the prison. Also hosted matches with just rockets on. Lots and lots of options for sure and anywhere you want to play, you can. You can make the game setup as big or small as you want. I have even set up grenade only matches.
With a great imagination this game should keep most people busy until the next GTA comes out.
