Theres just no skill needed in the death match stuff. Its just point and shoot etc. Plus you showing up on the map just makes it not very fun either. I would feel the same about COD4 if you were always shown on the map also, would just suck the fun out of it.
 
ditto-- you can turn blips off completely but if in a large area, you would probably never find each other... a good option is setting it so they go off when you get near each other-- then there is alot of skill involved-- also turning off auto aim is yet another option requiring alot of skill.

As far as races-- there are set course races--- cannonball run races where you have to race from point to point to point in any course you want..... and free races where you can go from point A to point B any course you want...... all races are available with weapons or without.... cops on or not.... etc... I know I've done around 400 races now... I never get tired of them

I actually like a good Team Deathmatch when you are playing about 4 against 4-- I was in a couple of good cops and crooks mathches with about that many people too... was alot of fun.

Sounds like no matter what,your just simply a GTA4 hater. All the options in the game can be changed to whatever you want. You just want to hate.
 
Not hatin, if i were i wouldn't own every single GTA game. I know these options can be turned off but when i do this and host a game i end up just sitting there waiting and waiting until finally im like F this and just join a match. I still play the game but i guess if i don't care for the multiplayer im just sippin hateraid?
 
I do wish the "join" was better-- like motorstorm where you can type in a description-- would make it more likely you would find a contest you want to be in rather then randomly being assigned one... would save everyone alot of time.

Example-- you join GTA Race-- brings up a lists of Hosts games-- and you give a short description: Random Track, all Weapons, 3 lap, super cars, headsets only--

I do urge you to maybe go to another board with ALOT of GTA traffic and describe your match type and schedule a time for it... and then maybe get people to post the IDs so you can send out invites--- I've seen people doing that a another board I frequent-- there are some pretty unique games going on...
 
I forgot that some of you have the PS3 version. I have no problems finding exactly what I want on the 360 version. You can set and pick the EXACT game type that you want with the EXACT options on the 360 version. The rooms fill up almost instanly every game I play. If I want friends to play a specific game mode I do the "party mode" and then we keep going game to game together. Not sure if its like that on the ps3 but its very easy to get what you want on the 360.

I think it falls short for me because of the fact that i only have 2 friends that play it so i always get stuck with a bunch of either kids or complete morons who want to try to rap into theyre damn headset the entire time. And even if the auto aim is off it still doesn't require any skill really, it just all depends on if you happen to have a better gun than your opponent. As in lets say COD4 i can have a pistol and i can still pop you in the head and kill you even though you have a MP44. The cannonball run deal was pretty fun even though i never won the event, i always got started in middle of the ocean or somewhere ridiculous to where it took me a bit to just get going. Oh and CB i only have a breakbox 360, im wanting to get a PS3 within the next 3 months or so and my wife is wanting a wii at christmas. I am going to send you a friend request on live, my GT is LEGION138 so you will know who i am when you get it.
 
Ok sounds good. Maybe we can have some fun games on the 360 together. I also plan on getting a PS3 as soon as Iron Man comes out on Blu-ray. Probably within the next few weeks I am guessing.

From the vids I've seen of the xbox, the "join" looks the same as PS3-- how does it show the game options before get in the "ready room"-- on PS3 you select GTA Race or Race or Death match... it throws you in which ever game you select and the hosts sets/changes the options, if you don't like it you have to leave and you are randomly thrown in another game (and sometimes back in the same game)... how is the interface different on xbox?? I'm not referring to the create a custom game-- I'm talking about quick match...

Maybe I should try the custom game option for a change... I always select quick match-- I'm an impatient 42 year old fanboy ;)
 
My gf's brother has a 360 and I have a PS3. We both have GTA4.

The game is pretty much exactly the same, but the multiplayer is better on the 360 simply because there are far, far more users. You can join any game on the 360 at most times of the day and get a full room of users, but on PS3 you're lucky to ever get a full 16 users even at peak times, and some online modes don't get any users at all. I've never been able to play the team mode of the car stealing game because nobody ever joins.

For this reason, I've found the PS3 online lacking because there never seem to be enough players to compete against. Only the races and the deathmatch modes get a significant number of players.

Were the xbox sales that much more for GTA4 then for PS3?? Is it that there are more players or maybe the servers aren't set up the same way-- perhaps the players are directed to each game better on the xbox servers??? Anyone know of any hard data on the number of sales for each and online participation??

If you ever want to play car jack city on PS3... add me-- I've only done it once or twice-- played with about 5 or 6 people... was pretty cool.

It seems the number of people you get in a game goes up and down--- I do find it alot funner with at least 10 people-- I was in some good team death matches last night
 
Car Jack City, that's the name I was after. Well like I was saying, I've never, ever seen anyone in the team mode of that game!

Most of the time I don't even bother doing free mode unless there are at least five people there, because if I want to go off and explore the last thing I want is the only other player on the map coming after me and killing me. With more players they're too busy killing each other!
 
turn the blips off-- you get away from the spawn point and you are home free.

I have never tried team car jack city--- that would be cool if you had head sets to communicate so you can strategize...
 
Anyone know where i can find a detailed map of the weapon locations for the single player game? I'm after something like the thingstheydonotwantyoutoknow.com map but with the weapons labeled?

Sorry if its been posted before, it sounds like something someone would have done but when i search for weapon maps all i find is the one i already have.

Just looking for some rocket launchers so i don't have to pay for them :) I've got plenty of money but at $5000ea they are still a little expensive. I've found one just south of the heletours place but its annoying having to wait for it to respawn every time.

EDIT: found it :) (well not a map, but the locations of the rocket launchers)

Had a very strange candadian yesterday, made comments about obama and coloured people... but anyways he got sniped lol


Yesterday was a great day for moving headshots, I got like 6 :)
Day before a fluke headshot to a moving chopper (total choppers sniped in air 6)

Its great that Im a above average player :)
I like to snipe the sniping, then I get a 5 vs 1 because I kept sniping.

I have not even thought of touching this game since Saints Row 2 came out. SR2 is truly everything GTA4 should have been. I will eventually put GTA4 in again but it will be a while.

I hear great things from friends. Parachute, streaking, pimp slap, pimps, customizing, property investment.

You are going to be shocked when you see how much is truly in SR2.
I am a huge GTA fan and own all the games but Saints Row 2 is easily the best of the sandbox series. Saints Row 2 is full drop in drop out co-op campaign with everything that was missing from the GTA4 campaign. You can buy clothes, jewelry, completely customize your character top to bottom including walk and personality, buy cars from car dealerships, buy bikes from bike dealerships, buy houses just like in Vice City and San Andreas then make money off of them, buy every single store you see in the game, buy boats and boat docks, customize your house, parachute from anywhere in the game, fly planes, join fight clubs, drive monster trucks, quads, dirt bikes, car surf, fly a helicopter, customize your homies and the way their cars look, customize EVERY vehicle in the game (if you can drive it you can customize it), and much much more all with a co-op partner. Every mission every level everything is all co-op. You can hold people as human shields just like in GOW2. Pick up any object in the game and throw it or use it as a weapon.
The graphics are toned down a little from the first game but the gameplay more than makes up for it. The story is actually very good in Saints Row 2. It also looks like it will be at least 75-100 hours long to finish all the side missions and everything in this co-op campaign. The multiplayer is also pretty good too with a lot of gametypes.
Saints Row 2 is the most fun sandbox game I have ever played. This is what GTA4 should have been especially with the full drop in drop out co-op campaign. I do still think the multiplayer in GTA4 has more online options. But SR2 has everything in the co-op I could ever ask for in a sandbox style game and much more.

I was just pondering whether to pre-order the PC version from Amazon or not. Having now seen the system requirements, I'm glad I didn't...

Dare I say that the 'average' player on GTAIV online is about the same as the bottom of the barrel COD4 or Rainbow Six player. Knowing you if you see yourself as above average, you're likely much higher up the scale due then you think due to the average standard being so low.

Last time I played I had a 1 V 1 chopper war with a friend which I won by shunting my nose into his tail and knocking it off with great precision I may add as he was chasing me from a distance and I perfectly looped round at speed and shunted his chopper from the side into a spiralling mess

i HATE helicopters.

1. I cant fly them as good as others
2. You are a wuss caus you cant shoot or drive lol
3. I cant kill a person with the blades... The game shows I hit, but I didnt actually hit lol

I took over another airport game yay!

I stay around the car park with the slow sniper rifle. Anyone near me, killed with carbine rifle or sniped (always aim for head is my rule)


Im only on rank 5 and stopped. Too much hassle on getting money. If money was available on Free Mode I would be like rank 10 lol


I dont have COD LOL but Im not too shabby at my friends. Might get CoD5

Taking a while to get used to this. I press L1 to hail a cab, then it says press triangle to get into the cab, I press that but it hi-jacks the Cab as it would normally, do I need to hold L1 when I press triangle?

Also, what kind of side missions are there? Fire and Ambulance as per normal? I know the vigilante is slightly different.

I find this incredibly annoying too. Sometimes you can walk upto the back door of a cab and get right in, but invariably you'll open a front door instead and end up in the drivers seat of a car you don't want to drive and with a wanted level to boot :irked:
