Hello,

I've been playing GT6 for quite some time now and I've noticed some graphical problems with the game.

Let's start by the constantly changing exposure. This one is well known: often the exposure is way to low in the cockpit, sometimes on some tracks the exposure can be too low in photomode as well. However, the worst moments are when the brightness is way too high, example: on Goodwood, when driving normally on the track, the brightness is ok, however, when you go or stop sideways on the track, the exposure suddenly becomes way too high, hurting one's eyes.

Then there's the aliasing, the lines are always jagged, especially when looking in the distance. Same problem with the shadows that are often flickering and jagged as well.

There's also a problem with headlights and other light sources like the sun: when looking towards them, a square appears in the color of the light.

Another weird problem is to do with the clouds: on many tracks with weather change (not all!), it's impossible to set the weather to clear (0%) and have white clouds in the sky. Setting on 25% however does either no change or makes the sky gray.

I'm not sure whether it's only me with these problems or you have the same. The reason this is important for me is that I do a lot of photography in-game, so graphics is everything to me. ;)

Could you, guys, tell me whether you have experienced these problems or maybe have some other ones that I didn't mention? And maybe you know some solutions?

What you said basically happens to everybody, some will tell you that you're wrong and that it's your setup the one at fault.

The worst problem for me is the track disappearing which is then usually followed by a console crash once you try to quit/restart and tends to happen quite often lately.

Pretty much everything you describe are performance considerations.

The exposure metering isn't free, and the more finely and accurately you try to control it, the more information you have to process per frame. It definitely does weird things compared to GT5; I wonder if it's related to the below.

The blocky glare is because it's written into a low-res buffer that is then post-processed onto the frame-buffer as "bloom"; it was higher-res in GT5, but GT5 had worse colour depth and dynamic range and used dithering (which some people don't like).

Aliasing will always be a problem, one way or another; high quality anti-aliasing is expensive, cheaper methods remove too much image quality. The only real fix is more pixels. :D

GT6 has a lot of issues, but when you tune a car just right and have a close battle with a few friends, you forget all about them. Racing at night and later watching the sun rise is a particular favorite of mine.

Today I noticed that the Lotus 97T's gauges are on their side. PD being PD. :)

Are you sure? I've seen that a lot on older racing cars when the "useful" part of the gauge is near its upper limit, which would normally be in the 5 O'Clock position, or so. Rotating the gauges therefore puts the useful range at 12 O'Clock where they can be seen better.

Looking here, it seems the 97T had rotated gauges, too, even though it was much more common for bespoke gauges to be made by that time.

You can try exposure setting in options menu. On TV sharpness settings can help. Also you can try 720P and 1080P on PS3 settings options to see which looks best on your TV. Things you mentioned is something they cannot change. With updates they can try to hide some artifacts to some extent but don't expect it to change over time

The jagged lines are a real pet peeve of mine, especially on the MKIV Toyota Supra. It's a real shame that one of my top favorite cars of all time looks like crap in GT6.
