After 55 hours, I've finally managed to Platinum the game. The Power Kat trophy was a big of a grind, as you need some 85000 Gems to power up all her abilities, and even if you manage to find all gems hidden in the world, and the ones you get for completing Challenges, you'll still only have about 65000 Gems. Replaying mission 19 five times gave me the remaining gems that I needed.
I really like this game, but it does have some odd design choices.
Positives:
- Best art design I've ever seen in a game.
- Best, most fun to use traversal mechanic I've ever experienced in a game.
- Interesting characters, with Kat being the clear favorite. Probably in my top five favorite video game characters ever.
- Lengthy story that offers a lot of variation, although not always executed as well as I would've liked.
- Awesome finishers. They're silly, but I love them.
- Some of the most interesting world design I've ever seen in a game and absolutely filled with detail.
- Nice photomode, enhanced by fun to use poses that you unlock throughout the game.
- Nice costumes, but could've had more.
- The fight against Raven is one of the most entertaining boss fights I've ever played.
Negatives:
- Side missions often feel tedious. The one with the dog was especially frustrating. The one where Raven tries to steal the package your transporting is pretty funny though.
- Game limits your powers quite often, and the game just isn't much fun when you're being limited.
- Awful stealth missions, and far too many of them.
- Some characters and plot lines feel underused/underdeveloped.
- Would've benefitted greatly from having more voiced dialogue.
Conclusion. A must buy for anyone who owns a PS4. It's wonderfully unique, full of charm and karisma, and just plain fun. While hampered by weird design choices, it's nowhere near enough to ruin the overall experience.
