Since a search on "Great Finishes" turned up nothing, I figured I would start this thread. :) Post a finish that is exciting from any form of racing.

The very first Daytona 500. It was a photo finish that took 3 days to decide Richard Petty the winner. I would link it but I'm on my phone.

I got to see this one in person, right at the start-finish line:

Even though I haven't called myself a NASCAR fan since 2008, this is a memorable finish.

It was Lee Petty, actually...

It was? I knew I messed that up somewhere. Thanks for correcting me 👍.

Same here for this (not my video, but I wasn't sat far from here):

And to contribute some more to this thread, this entire race is a "great finish"...to a great championship year!

2002 250cc GP at Philip Island - last race of the season, last lap, with winner to be crowned world champion:

14 posts in and nobody has posted this gem :(

Sorry the quality and size isn't so great, it's a difficult video to track down on Youtube.

2008 Belgian Grand Prix:
Lewis Hamilton was on pole, Felipe Massa beside him in second, Heikki Kovalainen behind in third, and Kimi Räikkönen in fourth. During the first lap Räikkönen passed Massa and Hamilton held the lead until he spun on lap two, handing the lead to Räikkönen. Räikkönen opened up a few-second lead over Hamilton, and Hamilton then spent the rest of the race in hot pursuit of Räikkönen.

Here's how the race finished:

Lewis had done exactly what he had to do in compliance with the rules as worded at the time, but that was still viewed by the stewards as insufficient and they penalized him after the race, handing the win the Felipe Massa, who in no way deserved it, being so inferior to Lewis and Kimi on that day that they might just as well have handed the win to Jimmie Johnson.

I love Indy, but the brickyard has also brought me the agony of defeat many times. :banghead: Maybe next year, I'll get to see one of my drivers kiss the bricks.

Well that's entirely debatable. Look at Alonso at Suzuka 2005, he gave the place back to Klien and overtook him immediately, and he was told to let him through again.
