I'm not talking about the movie or remaking it, I'm talking about real life. Say you created a device to time travel, what car would you put it in?

Well, I DID write a (rather long) fanpiece involving this franchise...The second part featured a stainless-steel starfighter-like space ship as the time machine, one that could "tow" other craft behind it...

Otherwise it involved Arwings.

If not a De Lorean, though...probably a Honda NSX. It kind of has a timeless vibe about it.

I don't know. Call me crazy, but I would be interested in seeing a BTTF remake.

But the Phantom Menace is also my favorite Star Wars movie, so...

The Tesla Roadster so it can generate the 1.21 gigawatts itself without having to destroy more precious clock towers.

I like that it uses electricity instead of gasoline (seems more likely you can find electricity). But I don't like the reliability, and getting up to 88 reliably in any time period is the key to being able to get to a different time period.

You want something that goes fast, doesn't break down, doesn't need special parts to fix, has a big gas tank, and preferably can hit 88 on dirt or pavement.

Well the car I instantly thought about was the Jaguar C-X75 concept. Sleek and futuristic, and the micro gas turbines can run on various fuels so makes it almost future proof.

Or failing that go with the Lotus Esprit concept just for its looks.

They should just get someone to do a new delorean concept car just for the film. Anything other than one wouldn't really cut it in my opinion. Something like this....

NO!

That would ruin the memory of the original for a whole generation, just like when they re-invented the Lady Penelope's FAB1!

I did a google search for 'retro concepts' and saw this:

Alfa Romeo Bertone Bat 11. I don't know its specs, but i can definitely see something like this in a BTTF remake. Futuristic, yet retro.
(If the rear wasn't so ugly, then it would of been better)

Could work in the "future". I seem to remember that a few concept cars made it into BTTF Pt. II.

I kinda thought the new FAB1 was OK, pity the film was terrible. It would have been better if Rolls Royce had done the concept and I think they were willing to but if I remember correctly they were too busy developing the phantom.

Its like with the studios not using a Lincoln Futura in every batman film since the 1996 TV series, has it ruined the memory? I think most like having a new Batmobile with every iteration.

A pre-facelift Acura NSX. Or the Acura HSC concept car featured in GT4. Would be pretty cool, in my opinion. Alternatively, a pre-1987 Lotus Esprit.

Using the very lastest R35 GTR would be cool, but since it gets to 60mph in under 3 seconds, it's almost cheating.

I'll post this though, A car I've always figured might have been based on the DMC-12 (as I suspect japan were perhaps noticing an increasing popularity in the US of cars of this shape in the 80s) and what an updated or next gen DeLorean may have looked like:

Just for comparison:

Give it gullwings and you'd be good to go, I'd honestly consider gullwing doors to be essential in a time machine car.
