Great version of Spa.

Turned my first laps at Spa today in a Japanese lobby...absolutely fantastic! What a beautiful layout and environment. PD did a wonderful job with development of the track....regardless of what some of the numbskulls out there have to say. I was kind of disappointed when I saw the only DLC tracks were going to be Spa and Kart Space(I wanted to see some of the old originals as well...Red Rock, Seattle, Capitan, Seattle, Midfield, etc.), but after the few laps I turned today, I'm definitely excited for the release here in North America.
Great Job PD 👍👍

It is the best freaking track ever. Better than the Nurb! It is fast! It is technical! You need the guts to drive the Raidillon! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!!!

I hope so, GT5 would be sooooo much better if it got more tracks (it would drastically extend the life og gt5), the current tracks are getting too old.

My PS3's in for repairs, so can't wait to try out SPA with nearly ever car im my garage ;)

To master an track really, I talk for me, I must invest tons of hours... I can remember the GT Academy event in GT5P on the Eiger Nordwand. I played the hell out of it... (btw. great track)...

So I must say, I did not even played on 25% of the tracks that are in GT5 :)
Maybe I did a few laps because of A-Spec but there is sooo much more to do in GT5 :)

Unfortunately there is no event maker in the game, as I never play online, I can use Spa only for (offline) hotlapping :indiff:

Wish PD would steal the "rivals" mode from Forza 4. I play only the rivals mode in FM4, its so great...

I've not raced on the track yet, but I hope there are some SEVERE penalties for corner cutting that skid pan (with the speed bumps) (the first corner) when racing online.

You need to make sure the host has penalties on for sure. The shortcut penalties are severe too, 9 seconds for missing the first corner, varying time for Eau Rouge etc depending on severity. Without penalties you can cut all over the place.

This track is insane! I have always loved it and for GT to finally have it, is amazing. Been pulling off 2:10 laps in my GT-R and it's so much fun.

Spa has been one of my favourite tracks ever since I started sim racing on PC around a decade ago. The GT5 version is great indeed, probably only surpassed by the iRacing version.
Shame they didn't include time change though.

Eau Rouge seems a little too easy to get safely through at very high speed in nearly all the cars I've tried, but I think that has more to do with the GT5 physics than track inaccuracies. Or perhaps a combination.

Is that even possible? Good luck with it! 👍

Not sure, while I didn't spend all day trying it (did quite a few online races) I came close once or twice but I just couldn't stop the backend trying to overtake the front as I came over the brow of the hill

Yes, rivals mode in GT5 would be epic. I prefer online racing to offline hotlapping, unless it's practice for a race, then it's practice mode with ghost on ;)

So, eventually when I get the PS3 back it's going to be an offline rampage to learn the track (SPA) :dopey:

While you need penalties on, half the ones that are dished out are a complete joke. Being rammed through eau rouge and cutting the corner backwards at about 150km/h does not warrant a five second penalty for the impact, and another 10 for going through eau rouge out of control and backwards, while the driver who caused it all drives off penalty free.

I'm looking forward to the NA release. Still, compared to how Spa used to be in the 1960s, the new one is less than half the distance.

I remember the first time I experienced Spa in a racing sim and it was in Grand Prix Legend (one of the first sim from Dave Kaemmer who's now the guy behind iRacing). Here's the old version. Unfortunately there isn't a real onboard video that I know of so this one is from the upcoming rFactor. I can see why there were many fatal accidents and the reason why it's become the version it is today:

Spa will always remind me of GTR on the PC back in 2005 with my Logitech Momo wheel. That game had some nice gfx for the time on a high end PC.

I think GT5's amazing lighting engine is what makes this version pop. Spent a few hrs online racing it, it suits GT5's new physics update well. One of the best tracks in the game for sure. Time change would have made it twice as good. I hope PD start pumping tracks like this out at least every couple months or so.

It would have been nice if this was incorporated into some add-on A-Spec, paid for DLC A-Spec or just Spec II additional A-Spec. Oh well.. Kaz and PD don't seem to care too much about that part of GT anymore.

I was fortunate enough to find a free run room for Spa, after immediately getting kicked the first time, and then getting disconnected the second. But the wait was more than worth it. I find Spa almost as addicting to drive on as Nurburgring. I could have hot lapped on that track with all sorts of different cars all day but the host out of nowhere changed the track to Autumn Ring Mini. :grumpy:

I just did a few Shuffle races on Spa and I even won a race my first time driving the track! Anyways, it was a blast, at first I thought "meh this is nothing special" but as I kept doing more laps, I started to like it more and more. The track itself is great and Eau Rouge scares the living daylights out of me, and it has turns that can catch you off guard, and will make you pay for it, and others you can take flat out! It's going to take some more practice to really get a feel for the track and start putting down consistent lap times, and now I'm really looking forward to next Tuesday when the Its released here in North America. I think Spa will quickly become one of my favourites, but I think The Ring will still be my number one.

well I just want to point out the hell of a difference between a very dry SPA vs. a rainy one. PD did a very good job creating this track. You can almost feel how steep Eau Rouge is! :nervous:

Did a few hours on the track last night. Very good track!!!!

Well done PD.

This track is great to drive, it throws a lot of challenges at you, esp in a rear wheel drive car you've got to work on throttle control. There's a lot to learn with this track.

Noticed an other great thing on Spa.

Drive the track in the opposite direction, watch the replay, and most of the cameras a static at one point. Means you see the car much longer, till the next cameraangle pops.

Those angles are not available, while driving in the right direction.

I spent nearly an hour yesterday trying this track, and, maybe for the first time playing a videogame, several times I had the feeling of being watching a tv clip instead of playing a game... PD has done a great job!

For whatever reason I cannot even described how SPA has a racing feeling that not other track in GT5 have. It feels special, difficult corners to judge braking and throttle plus some places which are dramatic like Eau Rouge. Overtaking ala Webber-Alonso racing online made my day last time eventhough I finished second that race, winning is not longer important anymore.

SPA rules. Period.

As you might have guessed from my other posts, I live at the 'Ring and also drive Spa a lot. Spa is way, way above the level of detail on the Nordschleife. It's the next best thing to racing the real thing... all the reasons I enjoy racing at Spa in real life are the same reasons I enjoy it in the game.

Shame that they repainted everything recently and changed the gravel trap at Rivage - but that doesn't effect the driving much!

10/10 for PD

I wish it had time as well as weather. Some of the corners are lit up by the sun so much that I can't see the apex. (That's my excuse anyway, not rubbish driving. Honest.)

I had that problem on another track and I cured it by setting EV to zero in options/ display.

Best version I've seen on any sim. Wouldn't mind paying if I could get a new track every month.

Could there be more tracks hidden in V2.0, waiting to be released?

Maybe.

The Prologue weather forecast/track listing is taking shape nicely with them dropping Spa, I expect 2 or 3 tracks from the unreleased list for future track packs. But whatever they do - GT fans have some good circuits to look forward to in the future. 👍
