Loore just posted a sticky thread on the CM forums regarding console and PC patches.
Corrupt Save Files
  • This is fixed in an upcoming console patch
  • The corrupt save file issue has been fixed on PC
  • Once applied the patch will 'fix' corrupt saves, allowing you to carry on from where you left off
  • Please note, if you overwrite your save file it will not give you back your progress
Console Patches
  • These are now in the last stages of internal testing at Microsoft and Sony
  • Included in the patch is the corrupt save file fix
  • Also included is Time Trial
  • Also included is a host of other fixes
  • Patch notes will be supplied in the coming days
PC Patches
  • We're already working on a new PC patch
  • We'll bring you more info on that as it develops
It's hard to give a release date (for the console patch) as it's out of our hands but as soon as both Microsoft or Sony say it's good to go the patch will go live the next day. Giving estimates is always risky but providing nothing else pops up and no other issues are found the patch should be live by the end of next week. Again, I can only stress this is an estimate and is subject to change but I know a lot of you are pressing for an update passed 'soon'. We appreciate a lot of you will be waiting for this patch and we thank you for your ongoing patience. As soon as there are any further developments we'll let you know.

GAS Online...

It's just a masochist experience, almost impossible to race without an accident.

Many races screwed up on first corner with not a chance to recover, how many times I sweared only god knows...

At least we got the racenet challenges, party mode aside.

within the audio settings, the dynamic range default setting is 'high'. anyone else notice how 'toned down' the audio appears if left on this setting? for me, changing it to 'low' improves things greatly

I shall give this a go in a minute

Amazing improvement. A toast to the finding!
One of the first things I did when fiddling around within the options menu. The difference is night and day.

I gave online another try today and more often than not it is unfortunately true. The lack of players are a bummer as well.

Had a really good, clean and close racing with two other players though, in my very first race - overtaking the fellow in second position on the outside in the last corner after a three lap chase (in Sepang). Felt good.

Spot on about the turn 1s. If you start from the middle of the grid or better, taking caution has caused several deformities on my rear bumper, if I can manage to avoid an absolute on track incident.

Any insights any of you all have as to set ups for tuning, within the context of fwd, awd, rwd, front engine, mid engine? It's probably a given such settings are dependent on driving style, but still any insights would be welcome.

Typically, with respects to suspension, I use softer settings are for where the engine is located. Brake bias is either split evenly on favored to the front. Then again, I'm not the fastest on any given circuit and use a ds3 controller. On one outing for the Cat C Touring cars, my best lap was done with minimal downforce and soft suspension settings, it seemed an odd thing to do but I shaved 3.5 seconds off one version of the Sepang circuit.

Damn it, save data corrupt again! I have no idea what happened or why; I was so careful to avoid switching my console off while saving.

Initial reactions to GA are as follows:

-The main menu music is annoying.
-The CG video quality is amazing.
-What exactly is the point of that first race?
-Why does the Cruze have all the turning ability of a loaded shopping cart?

I couldn't finish the my first real race, not for crashing but because I suddenly lost all will to live. Firstly, anyone who said it's exactly like GRID 1 can set their pants alight for lying, secondly the game may look good but looks only go so far if it feels like being kicked in the balls. Lastly CM is kicking my in the balls. Alright, I get it. You don't want to make a bigger GRID 1, fine. But don't get my hopes up and then give me something that's closer to the F1 series with GRID 2 presentation.

I don't know if I'll play again. I don't know if I'll play anything again. I'm not exactly beaming energy typing this out. Fate wins, my parents win, CM wins.

Just start playing before you puke out the game with your initial impressions, and put the AI difficulty on hard to avoid carnage during races and they are on the pace. The menu music is great by the way :D

I've been in elevators with better music than GRID Autosport. And even after turning it off, there's a short silly song-clip it plays every time (blends into the annoying menu music if you have it turned on) when returning to the main menu after career races that you can't shut off.

Difficulty was set to Very Hard, and I was still the damn pinball. I don't care for the electronica/dubstep/wtfever-you-call-it, I just played GRID 1 last week, and while I despise GRID 2, it's menu music is stuck in my head, especially the online.

Musical tastes differ meaning if you don't like GAS's menu music you probably have a bad one, but i forgive you :D
As long as we can all agree this is a great racing game seeing @BKGlover falls a bit out of tone here with all of us GAS lovers ;)

I'm going to ignore that back-handed slap.

Trying it again because I don't feel like taking an angle grinder to my feet. Is racing for Oakley supposed to be like racing for Marussia or HRT? Why is the Cruze so damned fragile in the front?

Yes. If you join Oakley for the first Touring season, expect to be racing the likes of Razer, Cusco and a Liqui Moly. If you consistently meet your team objectives, you'll get offers from bigger and better teams with a wider range of tuning options.

Exactly this. Grid focuses more on building up from the bottom, rather than winning every race outright from the get-go (although there's nothing stopping you).

And it does it in a way that never feels cheap. Even when the AI builds up a considerable lead, it always feels like you can catch them.

It's not your fault mate. Told ya it has always been an issue with CM games :indiff:

I agree with the bolded parts. Despite being much better than Grid 2, GAS still couldn't hold a candle to Grid 1. Mostly because 80% of it is recycled content, while the gameplay stays pretty much the same (or even worse, since you can't manage your own team, buy your own cars, hire teammates...). Grid 1 was revolutionary when it was out, this just feels like a slapdash apology for Grid 2 to get some extra funds for their PS4 effort. A certain other game also recycles 80% of its content while keeping gameplay pretty much the same, but the core of that game (physics) always improves with each gen. Compared to the TOCA series from PS1, the Grid series has been steadily going backwards.

The menu music is awesome though. It's not the same as Grid 1, but it's still gives that classic Codemasters atmosphere.

Concurred. On the previous CM forums, I was championing for more in-depth economy and team as well teammate management. Sure, we got teammates back although in a simpIified form but it's still one of the key areas where G:AS falls short in comparison to GRID 1.

I truly miss the rather simple livery editor, messing around with sponsors (decals) and my own glorious pink Yashio Factory inspired team, as well firing incompetent teammates and hiring new ones. It would've added a lot more depth to an otherwise already - in my opinion - great game.

But yeah, considering the development time, it does feel like a quick apology for GRID2 - which they've also indirectly admitted. I still really, really like it, but it has certainly taken several steps back from GRID - with the exception of the physics.

Let me note something, I never said it was a bad game. I stated that it wasn't a GRID 1-esque game like many were saying. After playing a bit more, I think my Marussia question sparked a though. Yes, GA is closer to GRID 1 than GRID 2, but that's because it goes so far the other way it missed the GRID 1 turn-off on the way to the F1 games. Watching a few race intros, the camera views of whatever car you last drove, and how much more weight all the cars have, as I tried some quick races to try and get more motivation to play and found that chucking the cars in at any speed is a no-no as far as the game and AI are concerned, This is closer to the F1 games. Not a bad thing, but jumping in thinking I would be competitive from go it came as a big (raging) shock. Still better than GRID 2, though.

i think gas is the best all round driving game i have played in a long long time. forza and gran turismo while both good in places, i just found the repititition of their gameplay model just didnt keep me going back for more. i don't have that same repititition feeling with gas

:D

Ps. Just bought a Fanatec Porsche GT3 RS V2 wheel so looking forward to finally trying out GAS with a wheel.
if you dpnt mind me asking, what does one of those Fanatecs cost? In the dark about logitech/fanatec on the ps4. Hope Sony sorts this out

Don't count on it; the ones i have now (CSR and Porsche GT3) will only be compatible with current consoles or a PC, and by the time they do release a wheel for the PS4/Xbone it will probably cost twice as much.

If however you plan on going PC to play future racing games like PCARS or a next gen GAS, both these wheels are the best you can get and they go for less than 200 bucks now which is good value for money ;)
