👍👍👍

The only remark I have it that the 2 chase cams are too low. It's very hard to judge how far the opponents are in front of you. Would have liked that it was a bit higher so that I could just see what is happening in front of the car!

The cockpitview without a wheel will propably be my prefered view.

Ford GT looks attractive to drive and I am sure it's a lot of fun on the street courses as well. Anyone notice that there is no tirewear

I think only endurance mode has tire wear.

Excellent vídeo! 👍

But have to say, there is something about GRID 1 that makes the new versions of the game not so appealing...

This video might have been setup as a custom event, therefore, you can pick an Endurance type car, but run it in normal race mode, so no tyre wear. If it was setup as an Endurance Event, then the tyre wear would be on. It allows people to play endurance cars without them always having tyre wear.... cause that would most likely be frustrating.

You can also run Endurance cars in Day time if you want. Endurance mode is night races in the career (with tyre wear)

I am looking forward to racing Mont Tremblant again. I loved that track in Ferrari Challenge, and it's good to see it getting some more time in the sun here. Lovely flowing circuit.

That's fine and all, but does it work the other way around? Touring cars (BTCC/DTM) with tire wear?

On the blog it says that endurance has "A focus on night racing". Hopefully that doesn't mean there will be a heap of night time races, which are sometimes over represented when included, I feel. There is barely any night races in real life (apart from NASCAR) and I remember S2U had a heap of them and I absolutely hated them.
Surely I'm not the only one that can't stand them?

If you're looking at all motorsport, then you're right, there's hardly any night racing.

If you're looking at endurance racing only, it's a big part. Yeah, the races generally include day and night racing, but racing at night is a distinguishing feature of endurance racing that isn't shared by many other disciplines.

It's becoming more common for other types of racing to be held at night (F1 has multiple night time races) now that rigging tracks for lighting is actually moderately financially feasible for track owners, although I'm not sure that a full lit track is quite night racing. It's racing at night, but in terms of visibility it might as well be day time. It's not the same as bombing around a track with only what your headlights show you.

My main concern was that they would have endurance races that take place only at night. A day/night cycle I don't mind, I understand that is a big part of endurance racing with 12/24 hour races.

About drivers getting injured in video games. I think it would be cool to implement an injury feature like many of the sports games where your drivers career is delayed for a bit as he recovers.

Never going to happen in anything but a fringe game.

What about in Shift 2? When there's a heavy collision, the screen blurs and moves. And the sound gets all muffled except for a heartbeat and heavy breathing. I thought that portrayed the effects of an accident quite well. With an E rating.

This is actually how it's going to happen.

I thought that was a bit stupid...even a little collision at 50 km/h would do that!

I just noticed that Touge tracks are gone. I'll miss them for sure. They were a disaster online but they're quite fun for drifting and TT Global Challenges. Plus they are usually the most scenic tracks in the game.

Have you never been in a crash at 50 km/h?

It actually hurts. I've been in at least 30. Every 🤬 time, I get bruised ribs, sore spinal muscles, banged up knees and I lose my ability to breathe for like 5-10 seconds. I don't know the term, but i guess "knocked the wind out?"

I'm not sure what you mean here? Will endurance races take place only at night?

You've been in 30 accidents above 50km/h? Maybe you should stay well away from any sort of motorised machine.

Regarding the night-only races, yes.

Regarding the crashes, karting. I've been in like 200 karting races. Some don't go perfectly... You know, solid rear axle & rear brakes only, people spin sideways in the racing line a lot.

@Turbo_snail, never crashed in rally...

Karts are a lot different to actual cars. But yes I do agree, it does shake you a lot more than it looks. I actually liked the effect in S2U.

Well I doubt this game will have a damage model good enough to hurt the player so you should be alright. 👍
Kinda obvious. We're not talking about drivers getting hurt, but when crashes happen, how much the camera should shake. GT6 has this, too.

Uhh no. I always wear a seat belt. And my head never flayed around wildly, neither did my vision go grey and white or blurry, the way it goes in Shift 2! And what's with the warp speed lines around the edges of the screen?

Retarded!

Shift 2 crash animations inside the cockpit were original and nicely done, and no it didn't happen with every bump but only when you crashed hard.

OT; Just watched a series of videos the insidesimracing boys made about Grid AS, and it made me want this game. Their conclusion is that it feels like a good simcade, has nice physics and it rises above GT and Forza regarding the racing aspect, so this might well be the last great racer on last gen consoles (hope they don't have to downgrade those stunning graphics too much though).

If all goes well this will be THE console racer to keep us inside during the summer
