Hi mate, was looking over all the blogs and confirmed online features at the weekend and I didn't see anything regarding time trial leaderboards.

Will Grid Autosport have online leaderboards or some sort of leaderboard in Racenet?

I'll need to find out to give you a definate answer, but I'd imagine so.

Here are 2 quotes released so far... hope they help.....

"We’ve opened up the leaderboard to pit you against everyone in the world, not just your friends. Think you’re the best Touring Car driver? Now you’ll be able to prove it. Open-Wheel is more your thing? There’ll be a challenge for that too."

"Setting the quickest times, furthest distances or highest scores will always be the key to ranking highly in the leaderboards."

Just a quick question, does anyone know or think that I'll get decent FPS with my computer or should I get the PS3 version?

SPECS:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHZ
GeForce GTX650 Ti 1GB
8GB DDR2 ram

Here are the PC system specs for Grid Autosport.

We're pretty good at optimising our games, so I'm sure you'll be fine. Your rig is actually better than mine (the one I'm developing the game on) and I'm running in High and Ultra with no significant issues..... bearing in mind I'm also running our Tools editors, Photoshop, emails and everything else aswell. :)

Thanks mate, sounds promising!

Only 18 more sleeps!

Thank ya. It seems a pre-order on Steam might be happening soon, 30 fps (or 60 fps, I don't know what your frame rate is, can I know ) and on high. With V8 Supercars. I'm sold.
Oh and will the PC version be getting proper interiors, not low quality ones with no steering wheel shown, just wondering so I can be certain.

It's hard for me to determine FPS on my kit as I'm running the Dev build, not the Release. Saying that, Dev usually runs slower because of everything it's running and I haven't experienced any framerate issues.

The interiors you've seen in videos etc are the interiors that will be in the game. Remember, youtube videos etc will be compressed, so the quality you see will be better, but no, they aren't super high quality. That was never the focus for them. The focus was to draw the eye to the racing line and action on track. We make racing games, not car showrooms :D

Again, thank you. Could you possibly tell me what frame rate you are getting, even though you are using the Dev build? Or isn't it possible to see the frame rate.

Due to the nature of the dev build and the ever changing builds, it wouldn't be possible to give an accurate FPS, so I wouldn't want to give false information. All I can say is, I've not had any issues and my PC is getting old now :)

Sounds like there will be Global Challenges each week like on GRID2 which is great fun.

It would be nice to have a fixed online leaderboard tho for each track..

According to Gamersyde you can get full 60fps on PC presumably. That link has downloads to direct capture, full HD gameplay, and it looks really, really good. I highly suggest downloading one or two to see what the game will look like on high settings, you won't be disappointed.

@Johnnypenso, close enough. :p did you revisit it?
Nope, an hour is about my limit for TT's and I almost never go back to them. Once the initial excitement wears off it's just not the same the second time.

@mister dog, I don't know which way to interpret your post. Are you saying that all games have better AI than GT6 (because WRC3/4 don't have any AI at all...) Or are you saying that no games have good AI?

Sorry for the confusion...
No problem :) ; The first option, all games that offer grid racing have faster, more competitive AI than GT6 (even though they might be a tad too aggressive sometimes, at least you have to fight for the win). Instead that PD actually updated it, they introduced the 'chase the rabbit from the back' formula in order to compensate, but that reminds me more of driving through traffic than actual racing...

Well, it depends on how you want to look at it..... there are 5 disciplines and only Endurance has night races, so that would make it 20% in the career modes. However, I don't have figures on how many races are in each discipline/season so some disciplines may have more races. Fear not... there are lots and lots of races in daytime too. You can also run endurance races at daytime in Custom Race if you like.

No weather in Grid Autosport sadly :(
Gotta say so far GRID AS looks like it touches all the right buttons, good thing codies repented from the NFS like failure that was Grid 2, and turned everything around again to go back to the roots of racing (what we all want here i'm sure of it). Just a bit weird that every endurance race is at night, but that won't spoil the fun i'm sure ;)
Does the lack of changing weather mean there is more room for better graphics and framerates on PS3/360?

Yeah, weather is expensive.... especially when putting it into a game with as much diverse content as Grid Autosport.

While having dynamic weather etc is amazing, I really don't think Grid Autosport needs it. There's so much going on. Having no weather has allowed us to have 16 cars on track at the same time (Grid 2 had 8).... I know which one I'd rather have. :) It's a case of picking battles.... unfortunately, we just couldn't get everything in within the time we had, but what we do have is amazing and hopefully everyone will enjoy it.

Same here about weather....not a deal breaker for me...

Well.. apologies for all the likes on ancient posts of yours gentlemen, but i just spend an entire evening reading through the first 35 pages of this thread (late to the party), so yes i guess i'm officially hyped :D

Here's some posts i picked out:

Something I really like about Grid Autosport is that there will be two cockpit views. The one I'm excited about is the one without the steering wheel. The main reason I don't use cockpit view in any game is that since I use a wheel I end up seeing two wheels. I really look forward to using that view. It surprises me that it's such a simple idea and yet this is the first time I've seen it implemented. I never even thought of doing that.
If the animations are done right (unlike FM's outdated efforts where the wheel doesn't turn over and hands go off the wheel whilst paddle shifting...), i prefer seeing the wheel as long as the movements coincide with my inputs on the real one. I like that GAS has two types of cockpit views as the closer one is better for the immersion and visibility, but if you have a nicely detailed cockpit with good steering animations you still have the luxury to switch between the 2 👍 Regarding customization options for views and huds, the principle of 'the more the merrier' counts, and it's also nice you can turn of the wheel completely for those that prefer it this way.

Honestly, I wish GT6 had similar cockpits for the standard cars.
I was thinking the same, if you can't afford to model every cockpit accurately this solution is heaps better than GT's peepholes

The cars may not be the most detailed but the whole world outside the track will be, and that's what sets Codemasters' games apart; they actually feel alive.

Case in point: Grid 2 - drifting around Druids at Brands Hatch - over the engines I hear a distinct female voice shout "Wow! Look at that drift, that's awesome!". Can't have been the announcer, since the announcer for that track (in the game) is male.

And then you have the workers in Abu Dhabi welding together the metal frames of buildings under construction. The squirrel that dives across the road in California. The braying crowds which jump back when you get too close.

The little things.
I was already impressed with the birds flying over in F1 2013 (hope they return too @anim8r_uk ?) ;)

Once racing games start supporting Morpheus or Oculus Rift, then I would use the traditional cockpit view with the visible wheel and hands.

Hello @anim8r_uk, I have been looking at this thread for a while. I've got a few questions regarding GRID: Autosport.

1. How many layouts of Sepang are there in the game?

2. Does the game have a lot of soundtracks?

3. Will the night racing be as scary as Shift 2's night racing?

👍

Serious or trolling? :D

serious :)

Read my blog post about how I've tried to make the environments feel 'alive' even when nothing is happening. This blog focuses just on Yas Marina.... there are many more tracks in the game :D http://blog.codemasters.com/grid/05/the-vfx-of-yas-marina/

1. 6 Routes

2. Soundtrack isn't something I've been involved with, but given our other games, I'd say it's a safe bet we have a great soundtrack :D

3. Depends on what you mean by scary. Our tracks aren't a dark, due to the nature of the game we've made (some tracks are at sunset etc), but the action on track can still get pretty scary at times.... especially if you've smashed your headlights :P

Read that yesterday ;), birds weren't mentioned though
