I watched this video and it seemed like the tyre wear was a bit exaggerated. Is tyre wear speed changeable? Or does it depend on the event?

Personally..... with all the previews, videos, updates, discipline videos and information that's already been released, I don't see what a review is really going to offer. At this stage, I'd have thought people will have made up their minds already?

Reviews can sometimes be biased based on the reviewers preference for gaming. If a reviewer who only likes football games reviews a racing game, I doubt you'd see 10/10.... same as a racing game fan.... they're more likely to review it higher.

Remember... a review is just that persons opinion.... doesn't mean it has to be yours too. I have played games that scored 4/10 and really enjoyed them..... it just depends on what you like as a gamer.

I find the best reviews are the ones you make yourself, based on information you have already received before release......

....but maybe that's just me :)
Well previews etcetera is what got me excited in the first place, but reviews offer confirmation on the total picture as they cover the entire game as a whole whilst impressions and videos mostly just focus on certain parts of gameplay.

You're right about some not putting the right people up for the job though (otherwise i can't explain all those 9/10 scores GT6 got :D), that's why i pay attention to the ones that haven't disappointed me so far like IGN, Gamespot, XGN and Gamereactor. They got guys on there that know their racing games and have a clue at least ;)

You can use reviews as a general reference point. Good and honest reviews are sparse. I enjoy reading a few but as said, there is a wealth of info already. All the YouTube stuff is positive about the handling and they all seem to have a lot of fun. Next to that Codies have been clear in their communication and you know what kind of game you are going to get. I really hope GAS is a succes so that there is funds for the future to acquire certain licenses or focus on more specific disciplines.

Will pop in that disc comming Friday :D

To #GAS:cheers:

(Repulser field FTW!)

I had some real fun with that one in the first one. There is something so satisfying about driving my Lola LMP1 car alongside and R18 and gently touching it to watch it go flying all over the place.

Good times. 👍

It's based on your driving style etc. The tyre wear is scaled to distance, so you won't be down to 30% tyre wera after 4 laps in a 40 minute race.

Also..... the tyre wear wasn't fully balanced in this build :D

Thanks for the answer, I thought it had something to do with scaling! :) That's a good decision, makes for exciting racing! 👍

So much hype, I can't describe! The damage, for instance, is as good as ever with Codies games! And then there's the sounds... :D

Is there any set way to get the cheats? I never bothered originally lol

You'd have to win the final race, or call up Codemasters to get the codes, but then you have to pay for them.

That reminds me, maybe I should complete Grid 1, before jumping in GAS. :D And try out the cheats.

HA! Have we not proved that already? :p

Game advice:

If you're going to do crashes, do them well. Crazy Leo's personality may very well be infusing itself into me, too, but honestly... Could you think of anything more absurd than this?

Because this is what will happen if Repulse Fields are made available in this game. We must make sure this race happens in GRID Autosport against the AI.

...And then we'll have super clean races online with everyone from this site... :D Without the crazy fields.

Question:

In seriousness, I'm about to order this game. I have much, much more money than I was anticipating having and I'm only going to get more and more; count me in. But, you stated that the AI is still being tweaked - what is the progress, goal, and result? :D

If something like this is in Grid Autosport then it's not for me, I didn't think it was going more towards Mario Kart than a good racing sim (and I realize it wasn't intended to be an rFactor/GSC/AC/pCARS type sim).

A fun side-game carnage won't distract from the sim aspect of GAS. ;) You wouldn't be obligated to use that cheat, obviously.

I'd rather they filled GA with new content and made old assets available as DLC if the alternative is to fill GA with old assets and only make the new content available through download only. The Shibuya DLC stages in DIRT 3 were remakes of content from previous games, but only really stood out because the other rallycross stages were fairly simple and ordinary.

I think the real challenge they face is in spreading themselves too thin. DIRT 3 had a real breadth of content, but very little depth. For example, Baja buggies and trucks were included, but there were just four circuits for them, so you had to keep playing the same stuff over and over again. So I think GA would be better off concentrating on two or three disciplines, rather than five. Although I do like the idea of being able to complete the game in one discipline if you wish.

Or even better, include everything old and new that they had made up to this point at launch, then add anything else they made after as DLC. But that's not going to happen in this day and age. When a developer tells you we have a plan for x amount of DLC, you know they're gonna be holding back content.

And i agree with the game potentially being spread too thin. Touring/Endurance and Street/Tuner should be two disciplines IMO. The track count and all their variations seems good enough though (and some have day/night) so hopefully it won't feel too repetitive.

But doesn't it tell you something about the type of purchaser? Many claim that racing online in many games is a joke because of the wreckers, promoting/including a game feature for crashing/wrecking is attracting a type of racer that is less interested in clean racing, in my opinion.
But that's fine, I understand many enjoy arcade racing games their just not for me.

Well, you have a point. But they could release the game with the cheat included secretly, without teasing, only available once you complete the game. That should be the correct way.

So...we had Rob Austin (BTCC driver) in the studio on Friday playing some Grid Autosport. He only went and set the fastest lap time in the Pro Drivers Challenge :)

Believe it or not, but I've not actually done the challenge yet... :O

I'll be sure to make a point of doing it on Monday :)

The guy who did the handling for the Focus Touring Car is a lot faster than all these times... but then, he did do the handling and has had a year of practice :)

Sticking with Codemasters tradition, I will be using "Crash" as my audio name.
