To be fair to ProjectCARS and SMS.... it's the consoles that don't support the wheels... not the game. If the consoles supported them, I'm pretty sure the game would too :)

True, but even so. You've announced that even if your controller isn't supported there will be an option to customise and at least attempt to make what you have work. Surely that would be an option they would at least consider. Less reversed circuits is also a huge bonus

Will be interesting to see what happens when/if Gran Turismo 7 hits PS4, if there is no Logitech support the fall out will be huge.

All that delicious monies

Feel obligated to post the full article above (spend most of my time on GTP on my phone so it's a pain to keep clicking URLs and loading pages)

Now that we’re a few laps past the launch of GRID Autosport, we thought it would be a good time to talk about the extra content that we’re planning on adding to the game over the next few months.

Many of you that have picked up the Season Pass have raised the question; “just what will I get?” We understand that silence around a Season Pass can raise a number of concerns, which is why we’re here today to give you a rough outline.

Car Packs

There will be three car packs for GRID Autosport:

  • Best of British
  • Coupe Style
  • Road & Track

We’ll have more info on the content of these packs a bit closer to the time of release.

Mini-Expansions

When we first talked about GRID Autosport receiving Mini-Expansions a lot of you were incredibly positive, which is great! At the heart of each pack is a brand new single player championship and along with it a selection of tracks, routes and cars.

Each pack is built around a theme:

  • Sprint Pack
  • Touring Car Legends Pack
  • Drag Racing Pack

As well as content, we also know that timing is vitally important to you. With that said, we can confirm that all DLC is currently scheduled to be released before October 2014.

As mentioned above, a Season Pass is available on both PC and PlayStation 3, and each DLC pack will also be available to buy separately across all formats.

Patches

In addition to new content we’re also hard at work on patches for the game, some of which you will have already seen deployed and others that are still on their way. These patches aren’t only for fixing any niggles or issues that you’ve helped identify but we’re also committed to improving the game where possible, based on your feedback.

One such feature will be a virtual rear view mirror, which will soon make its way into a PC patch. Alongside this we will also be allowing advanced controller options to be available for all peripherals, regardless of whether or not they are on our supported list. While we cannot say for certain how your controller will work, the options being available should allow you some degree of control over them.

Both of these features are currently undergoing our QA process and we’re hoping to push them live very soon.

Playlist changes are also something that’s due to happen, again, based on your feedback. When we first heard that you were disappointed that some circuits were not making many appearances we took the opportunity to do some investigating. Once we’d dug deep into the playlist rotations we took the decision to change things up a little.

The end result is that you should now see more GP Routes (the right way around as some may call it) making an appearance and we’ve also increased the number of tracks available to each discipline, which should ensure that all your favourite locations make an appearance across a number of disciplines.

We’ve been blown away by all the feedback we’ve received so far and we look forward to once again meeting you on the track.

I'm beginning to think there's something wrong with my copy of the game because it seems I'm the only one having problems with slow AI. :guilty::(

I think Codemasters need to do a bit more promotion to the game. If people saw an ad for this, with all the close, lively action and the beautiful landscapes, I think a lot more copies would be sold. Heck, I wouldn't have even known this game would be out if it wasn't for someone to have it as their avatar on GTP.

I presume you have it on very hard? I'm on that, and, presumably with one of the worst teams, achieve 4-10 depending on various factors.

Imagine GAS with pit stops, doing the Le Mans 24h, full day and night cycle plus weather...:bowdown:

STOP... you're making me LOSE my mind! :dopey::dopey::dopey:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Couldn't resist posting this:

My Golf GTi bangs hard into the sidewall, I lose the front windshield, and suddenly I can hear the ambient sounds, engine, intake and turbo better from the cockpit view!

Another instant when a car bangs hard into my side door...and the cockpit sounds become less muffled. Bravo Codies!

Driving at the SF track, actually saw traffic moving on the Bay Bridge while I was admiring the scenery... I like!

At the Dubai street track, you can see traffic on the public road on your left when crossing the finish line, and there are construction cranes moving around... sound of construction work going on...

The sound of the overhead train on rails in Chicago... there is SO much going on... and it runs smoothly at 30 fps for the most part. (though I'm secretly hoping Codesters make future titles on current gen run at 60 fps)

Man... the ambiance and atmospheric pizzazz in this game is ridiculous!

Codies... I think you're all set to outdo yourselves with future GRID games! :D

The patch is for all platforms yeah? @anim8r_uk

Reply from CM regarding the DLC
"Thank you for submitting your recent request to Codemasters Customer Services concerning Grid Autosport.

Please check that you are looking in the correct location...

The Mercedes SLS AMG Black Edition can be found in the "Street Racing" discipline under the "Grand Tourer" vehicle class. It is not available in other vehicle classes unfortunately. It is also not found in your garage, as you still have to purchase the vehicle with in-game currency (but it is an exclusive so without the Black Edition it is not available to purchase).

The car can be chosen when playing in the "Custom Cup" game modes either offline or online.

The sponsors can be found online in the custom livery section. You'll be able to apply Black Edition specific sponsors to your car.

The other liveries will be available to select online and under custom cups offline."

Hope this helps.

Yes, very hard on all times. Again, depends on the discipline and track but I find winning too easy. I want something like the Extreme and Ninja levels in Grid 1. :dopey:

Hahah, you must be a really good racer! I find it just that little bit too easy, and probably would be a walkaway driving with Ravenwest, especially the open wheeler. But! I'm not complaining, 10 times better than GT AI, and, if it did become too easy, you could test yourself from the back of the grid ie. Skip quali

Not really complaining, I'm just pointing that out. ;) As we all know, Codemasters make great AI, it's just that they sometimes can get some things wrong. Surely it's a million times better than GT's...

I might be fast but certainly there's many people on here that are as fast or faster than me.

Often this happens on start of the races, it kinda ruins the fun of fighting through the field when you instantly overtake 8 cars just because they pile up:

:(

Will the virtual rear view mirror be updated onto PS3 or others in another update? It would be really handy, although I'd still love to see an indicator that tells you a car is beside you so that you don't have to look right, as some one suggested in the suggestions. There's something about looking left/right that it loses my complete focus of the car, idk why...

I would pay for a virtual rearview mirror for the bonnet cam and working mirrors for cockpit view for ps3

Even if they are very low rez.... I really like the game that is why the missing functionality really bums me out.

I like the sound of having more variety in circuit selection. I've noticed that some championships within a discipline tend to repeat circuits that were raced in other championships from the same discipline, while others - namely Hockenheim Short - pop up in multiple disciplines a little too often. One of the championships I have enjoyed the most was the first Tier 2 Street championship, because I had not driven the cars before, and the first two races at Washington Park and Orra Quay Loop were circuits I had never encountered before.

Now, if only we could get sixteen cars on Street circuits ...

I have a problem. The game won't recognize the gears on my G27 nor the clutch. What should I do?

Edit: Never mind, just couldn't find the G27 preset.

Hehe, that looked like the start of a typical online race in any game you can think of

Seeing that was offline, there's realism for you :D

Overtake off the track much?

If you want to make it harder, try playing by the rules of racing. The reason they bunch up is because there's only so much room on the road. The reason you're overtaking is you're not playing by the same rules they are.

As a cockpit racer only I find this unfair to us console racers. I love the game but this decision is just a head scratcher. If all platforms can't get this upgrade, then none should get it.

Eh? Presumably there are good reasons why the consoles can't get it, like say, the hardware can't output a rear view mirror as well as keep up with everything else. That sucks, but such is life.

But that being the case, PC shouldn't get it? Despite the fact that PC hardware is immensely variable and most of us can probably handle the performance hit from a mirror? That's just selfish.

Just a little. But that's not the point. The point is, very often the AI can't get round the first corner without pile ups. Which leaves me with two choices: crash with them or use some extra space of the track (just like in real life when they avoid incidents) and overtake them all.

I'm currently loving the SLS Black Edition in the GT category. I started out hating it; even after ten minutes' practice, I was three seconds a lap slower than the AI around Marine Gate. But the next race was Champs-Elysee, which I know very well, and after some first-lap madness - featuring a roll-over and a four-car pile-up in the space of 300m - I really came to love it.

It does happen in formula 1 sometimes that people go off track to avoid collision. I remember an F1 race a few years back at Spa where Kimi purposely went off track to avoid the first corner crush. He went on to win after that.

I could understand if there had been a first-corner collision - but there wasn't. Raikkonen shouldn't have won that race; he should have gotten a penalty for obvious cheating.

The point is the AI can't get around the first corner without concertina-ing. That involves swapping some paint, but not necessarily damage.

This happens in every real race series in the world. The first corner is always the most dangerous, and is never taken at full speed because there's so many cars in proximity.

It leaves you with three choices. Crash into them, go off the track, or back off and slow down to the same speed the AI are doing until you get through the corner. If you lose a couple of places, then that's racing. Sometimes it happens, and sometimes you spot a gap and gain a couple. It's a very fluid time of the race.

(Four choices if you want to allow yourself to go off the track to avoid a collision, but play by the normal rules of giving back any places gained by doing so. Run wide and take the places, then give them back at the next safe opportunity. You know what place you were in before the corner...)

In real life, what would you do if you were stuck on the inside line (ie. no option of running off track) and everyone piled into the first corner like that? Shrug and say "Oh well, guess I'm gonna crash then"? Or back out of it, and mug everyone on the following straight as they get awful exits from the corner? Or even just wait for your moment, spot your gap, get your elbows out and make sure you get through it in one piece?

Sometimes it's not possible. Sometimes you just crash for no fault of your own. Those situations are way rarer than most people think. That's true in real life, and the Grid AI are for the most part better than most random groups of humans I find online in any game.

You get to choose how you drive, you just apparently don't like any driving style that might mean you have to give up any time or speed because of conditions beyond your control. Unfortunately, that's a big part of what racing is: adapting to the conditions on the racetrack.

This online car repair is out of control, its costing me £25,000 each race now for my BMW touring car, also i have lost tuning upgrades 3 times now it's a joke 👎

Edit: still love the game tho :)
