Wow, that's pretty weird.

So it's only on PS3 and PC then? No issues for X360?

Asking because I've not played the X360 version for about a week, if there's a patch out.

Wow, they release a patch.... that messes up your game.... man thats stupid!

It was a mistake some where when they were making the patch, most likely it got modified when it was uploaded to the server(I think).

A 5 to 10 day delay on getting the revised patch up and out to people!!!!!

Sorry but that just strikes me as silly, CM are loosing a lot of regular fans with the actions of recent times.

For me both the CM and Race Driver series are now shadows of their former titles and now a patch that basicaly breaks the game and a significant wait to get it fixed. On top of that I've seen enough 360 owners complaining that on-line play for that version is almost unplayable.

Not a good sign for future releases for a studio that I one held in very high regard.

I have to say that as soon as Ferrari Challenge is released my copies of DiRT and Grid are getting part exchanged, and I will not miss them at all.

I´m one.

As with DiRT, finally I sold my GRID copy some days after buy it, specially for the bad multiplayer service, and for the extreme arcade feeling.

it did affect Xbox, too.
it's nice they have a public forum & don't keep you in the dark.

there is a distinct "sway" left to right to left .... after each turn ... it's as if there is a "Deadzone" in the FFB steering centering spring force

additionally [and possibly separately] the car does have the "feel" of cornering around a central pivot point, as if you are turning around a pole on the track:

That is nice, and is also a growing trend...

However, if I had to chose between a quality game with little or no interaction between the developers and users, and a lousy game with developers constantly reminding the users of all the problems... I'd much prefer having the quality game and not get bent out of shape if the developers are hard to reach. 👍

I'm confused. What is wrong with DiRT?
Not sure. I personally really enjoy DiRT, but like GRiD, the handling and brake physics modeling lean towards being arcade like, rather than sim like.

My main consern is that with CM in control of the next F1 game for consoles... much of what is great in F1CE is going to be completely disregarded in replace of a more arcade like F1 game based on the same physics engine from GRiD.

In isolation and even in comparison to Grid, not a lot is wrong with DiRT. However it lacks a lot of the charm and replay value that previous CM games had.

I played through DiRT and enjoyied it, but to be honest have no desire to go back to it at all. Which is funny because I still to this day will play the original Colin McRae Rally, which while a PS1 game has great gameplay and excellent stage design, and I replay it more than anything for the New Zealand stages, which are stunning.

Its that area that DiRT lacks in in comparison to the older games in the series, it tries to be too much and for me has lost a lot of its original core appeal as a rally game.

that illustration explains everything about Grid.
actually, no, it only explains one of the 2 big issues with GRID. and it does not explain the very good points: graphics / sounds / damage / racing the AI.

GRID needs work, but overall is great fun to play, IMHO.

The patch has been patched!

1.02 is now out, and working well.

great, i had real struggle to get a bit of feeling with my dfgt but now it feels like i'm in some arcade hall. it is fun and it gets you really working. it is not a sim but an arcade and if you get the feel with this game it is quit fun.
Racing against the AI can be exciting too.

about the F1 title, they have said it WILL contains a "sim" mode and an arcade mode so maybe they do it like it has been done in the ps1 title formula 97 if i'm correct, there was and main menu where you needed to choose. had a great time with that title. but i won't worry too much about the f1 game yet, the grfx/sound/ etc will be great i think.

That is true, but its worth keeping in mind that Codemasters have described the Race Driver as a SIM in the past, a point that gives me very little faith in the forthcoming F1 title.

To be blunt Cidemasters have a lot of work to do before they undo the damage they have cause to a one good reputation.
