As some of you may know there is a flaw in the game where you can turn faster times by using the handbrake. I, like many others am pretty upset about this. Its not realistic at all. If you watch some of the top replays you will see that people are using it.

I am asking to people to voice their opinion on the GT academy facebook page. Personally, I think that they should disable the handbrake and reset the times, otherwise this competition is going to be a joke.

Here is the link to the page (you can see others are upset with this exploit) http://www.facebook.com/GTAcademyNA?v=wall

here is the comment that I posted

I STRONGLY agree with those that have suggested disabling the handbrake. Its not realistic, its a flaw that you can be faster with it. This whole competition is going to be the laughing stock of the racing world if the handbrake isn't disabled and the times aren't reset. Please make this a real competition that rewards the best drivers, not the best at exploiting a flaw in the game.

How is it an exploit?

It would less realistic if they disabled a hand brake on a car that has one in real life.

because its an error and flaw they made when making the game. Its not realistic. It would be like if there was a glitch where you could run into a wall and the game would glitch and you would bypass some corners. How many race cars other than rally do you see using the handbrake? None, they dont even bother putting handbrakes in any of them!!!

Have you ever tracked a car before?

Yep and I don't remember a requirement to be having a disabled handbrake to enter. On most track day type events people are not going to be using there handbrake even if it is faster.......... for one it would take a huge amount of skill to get it right and I am paying for my tires on a track unlike in a video game.

IF you are saying that what the handbrake does in GT5 in unrealistic / not true to real life then that is what should be fixed, not disabling it.

Then they should fix that (if it is actually broken)

If you go faster with the hand break why not use it? You can't complain when people use all the tools they are given. You have the exact same tools, use them.

However K. Tsuchiya is one of those that use hand brake to go faster, it's on specific car but he does use it. I remember seeing him using it on tsukuba several time on BM vids.

But actually fiuxing the handbrake would require a large amount of coding work to re programme how the handbrake works?

Wheras GT academy is NOW and they could just remove it completely, and quickly, so it has an instant impact?

how exactly is it broken anyway? My handbrake on my RX-8 locks the rear wheels if i pull it........ and thats what it does in game.

Heres the thing. Its not fake nor is it a glitch. You CAN do this in real life considering the crappy tires you have on the car for this test. That said, its fairly dangerous to do, but when its a game and not your tires, who cares.

Leave it as is, and learn how to use the hand brake, it works.

Wow, I think you are missing the point of the original post...

OP, you might be interested in learning that drifting was invented when certain racing drivers in the early '70s learned that some corners (often hairpins) could be taken more quickly by slinging the rear end out. In most cases, losing grip is losing speed, but the sooner you can aim the gun, the sooner you can fire it. I found it useful (in the rare occasions I could get it right) on Tsukuba in GT4.

Yes, but it is not faster in real life

Maybe someone should write PD to see if these people will be DQ'd for using the e brake. If so don't worry about it, if not then I guess we all need to learn to use it. I can't see them allowing you to use it with the real car though.

More people should go to track days and actually learn different driving techniques instead of thinking that using the e-brake is some kind of real life cheat...👎

LOL. If you used the e brake at a track day not only would you be slow but you would also probably be kicked out for being retarded.

I've around 5 track days

:lol:And someone asked why American drivers are behind. As soon as someone gets one up on u,s we swear someones cheating and stop to complain.

Shouldn't this have gone in the dedicated gt academy sub forum?

Yes my bad i didnt notice it existed

It sucks that people can bitch and moan so much about things like shadows but when there is a big flaw in the physics of the game and an advantage can be gained from it people think its great.

Really, you think you would get kicked out for using the e-brake during an autocross? Do you think that heel and toe is cheating online? Should I stop using techniques I learned during autocross just so you can keep up with the pack? Why do you think the e-brake is only used for drifting? You probably should do more research on the topic at hand. 5 track days huh? What are you driving on the track?

Uhh how about no, you're wrong

Wow, 5 track days? Tell us Herr Schumacher how should we be racing this? I am assuming you are #1 now in GT Academy since with your 5 track day experience, and comments like above you should decimate all.

Not only are you wrong, you have no clue as well. One of the principles taught at every major racing school is the use of rearend rotation. How you do that is by managing the slip of your rear tires, which is tough with race tires but can be done, its when you really are on the knifes edge, and what separates the men from the boys. However when driving a car in a low grip situation (ie a 370z on crappy tires) you can manage some rearend rotation using the handbrake to lightly brake the rear tires to start a tiny slide, then use throttle management to push the car through the turn and hold that slide.

But you knew that already, with your 5 track days under your belt you're an authority. :sly:

I don't get this, how exactly are people who use the e-brake faster in the Academy?
If it's because they turn their car around than it is anything but a glitch.
