I voted for the DLC because I can't win the GT Academy since I don't have a driving license and I'm not fast enough in any case.![]()
I didn't think you actualy had to hold a driving licence to be a race driver? You only need a racing licence which, naturaly would be part of the Academy training.

Stupid Thread. Needs to be closed. It's just an excuse to complain.
If a moderator thinks it needs closing they'll close it. If you don't like this thread then don't post here, it's that simple.
I'll post where I like thank you.
Threads like these get closed as wars between users start.
As I said it's my opinion.
I for one appreciate anything Polyphony Digital give us. GT Academy is a massive thing for PD/Kaz/Sony. I fully support their notions on them providing a seperate Download Based Application for us all to take part in. Alot of GT Users don't even care that this is coming around again and it's a real shame and instead they choose to complain about the fact theres no DLC. Thats what I believe is a real shame. Ignorance is bliiss for some but I for one will happily wait till the next DLC Lot to come around without moaning in the Forums. These threads create nothing but trivial wish list threads and wars between forum users.

Exactly! GT Academy in May, DLC in june/julyWhy not both haha
I'm not going to moan about lack of DLC because frankly unless the DLC is something huge I wouldn't buy it anyway, whenever it's released. However what you have to realise is that for 95% of GT5 players GT Academy is of no use. We know we're not fast enough to actually win it and the truly fast guys know who they are. So for the vast majority unless they just want to beat their friends times or something there is very little point in it.
So again whilst I'm not personally moaning you have to see it from their point of view. DLC has the potential to be useful to 100% of players, GT Academy is only ever going to really suit the fastest guys playing the game.
Well if this part is true from GTPlanet News, then I think it could benefit a lot more people.
"The announcement also confirms that “rewards” or “gifts” earned in the GT Academy 2012 game can be transferred for use Gran Turismo 5."
PD are a very efficient development team
saidur_aliPD are a very efficient development team.
Well first thing I am looking forward to is trying to make it to the UK national finals for the first time. The gifts and prizes might be previous DLC packs or potentially new ones, hopefully Silverstone has been modelled. Any content for free is always welcome as I will be participating for the fun of it anyware.Yeah but are you expecting those gifts to be anything significant or worthwhile? I'm not.
Yes, it is all in the context. PD make use of their resources and knowledge of previous games into their new ones. Given the number of people that actually work at PD and how they are quite stretched in development such as creating on different platforms at the same time such as the PSP and in the future PS Vita, it is quite remarkable PD are being compared to a development team that works on a single platform with three to potentially four times the size of PD's team and expecting PD to beat or match them in terms of DLC output and if they don't they are lazy or don't listen to their fans or are slow.Did you just say type that with a straight face?![]()
Please tell me you're joking.

A quick question, can you name a game that has as many cars as GT5 with full interior modelled on the PS3 or PC out the box?
Some people only look at the small picture and think the flaws within GT5 sum up how much work they've done. If GT5 didn't have Weather and Time Change, I'd be questioning their efficiency. Considering outsourcing isn't Kaz's way of doing things, I think PD has created a marvel of a game on the PS3, especially from a programming standpoint.Well if this part is true from GTPlanet News, then I think it could benefit a lot more people.

Also, it is not like the work that goes into GT Academy is a waste either, it is further developing GT5's current base for future patches / games and potentially adding extra content to the series. That will benefit all the players of GT in the near future.
PD are a very efficient development team and do listen to their fans, the problem for them is the route to expand its current team might be capped by Sony at the moment so that PD remains highly profitable to cover their losses for initial hardware costs and other games / departments. Hopefully in the near future Sony can turn around its current financial position, meanwhile also letting developers like PD use more of their profits to develop their games. Then DLC output and also quality of games PD produce will be greatly increased.
GT Academy should help PD in the long term as it attracts gamers from every other racing game to compete in it and gets GT more and more global recognition. Meanwhile DLC content being produced will largely be unaffected by the GT Academy release as the same number of people will still be modelling content that can be used in GT5. It is a win-win situation, a chance to become a racing driver with very little investment and also improvements to GT. I have yet to buy any DLC so will be good if you can get the content as rewards through participating in GT Academy 👍.
Oh, they have no idea.Well first thing I am looking forward to is trying to make it to the UK national finals for the first time. A quick question, can you name a game that has as many cars as GT5 with full interior modelled on the PS3 or PC out the box? I expect GT6 to be a more focussed game as they have finished making the large core parts of the game through development of GT5 and if PD can expand to half of its rival, expect PD to deliver a solid GT6 game. Hopefully Sony let them expand so they can compete, if not I will not be surprised to see more negative comments towards PD and the majority being quite unjust. PD employees are not superhuman, they work probably much harder than your average game development team employees but are expected to achieve unrealistic targets per person by fans who don't know the real situation.
I am not joking.
Oh, they have no idea.
Well they are giving the potential of winning a race drive for free, and have added through patches quite a few cars for free already. Giving away previous / new DLC content as prizes is not a far stretched idea as they have given away a free SLS as a prize before, tickets to an F1 race and what have you in other competitions. There are not that many DLC packs they have released, the lowest they will go is giving away a free in-game car or maybe a free paint chipThey're not going to give away any substancial DLC for free, they didn't even give paint chips away for free.
Well only one game on 360 has more fully modelled interior cars on that platform and that is Forza 4. Considering they have more people working on car modelling on that game than, the entire PD workforce, it is not a huge achievement is it? The amount of people who worked on Forza 1 since 2001 is similar to the amount of people who worked on GT5 so you can see why PD will struggle to compete with them as out of all Sony and Microsoft's first party studios, Turn 10 have the most resources out of them all though.I see you conveniently left out the 360 in that question, any reason in particular? But even if you do can you name a game on the PS3 or PC that took over 5 years to develop? PD are not efficient developers, not at all. They spent all of that time modelling the leather stitching on the interiors of the premium cars whilst leaving 800 other cars with no interior at all and a half assed single player game. Their priorities were completely wrong.
But you do of course.
GT5 has time and weather, yes, but only on a handful of tracks. That doesn't take 5 years of work. Just look at Project CARS, they're in BETA/ALPHA less than a year into development and they have a 24 hour light cycle on EVERY track, weather to follow.
It's not the case any longer as we can see with this GT Academy.I personally dont care much for the GTacademy, I would hope that it can run without much imput from PD but I doubt thats the case. If PD stopped supporting DLC for GT5 because they were too busy making GT6 then I'm ok with that, but for GT-A then I'm not pleased. PD stick to making games and concentrate on what your good at, put more money into staff and resources instead of shipping Kaz around the world and racing or doing judging a SEMA act like you make games and get to it.
If they don't then more and more people will be fed up with what is dished out and they will look more like EA and less like great developers.

Plus, they even had the COURTESY, not obligation which some people said PD are obligated in updating GT5, to update the "demo" GT5P.I see people are still pretending that 'Tourist Trophy', 'GT5' and 'GT
SP' never happened so they can claim PD spent 5 years working only on GT5.
