Me too ... but that doesn't mean they didn't know ...

Sounds pretty conspiracy theory-ish to me. They moved the GT6 release forward because Driveclub would be delayed, but they hadn't announced either yet so they announced the GT6 date first so that no one would suspect that the real reason for the early GT6 date was the impending Driveclub delay.

That's a pretty complicated theory for something with no evidence.

Or maybe they just thought that releasing GT6 3+ months after the release of the new system was a bridge too far.

My thoughts on this from a "Sony Marketing" point of view ...
(and yes i played DC already so i know its more arcade then sim ... but were talking marketeer point of view here)

We all know the PS4 launch line-up had some troubles .... DriveClub got delayed (and Watchdogs also) ...
What could SCE do to keep the (racing) masses happy from their point of view ... they hád to launch GT6 close to PS4 market introduction to keep the Racing Sim Fans busy and distract them from the absence of DC ... Yes it still is on PS3... but hey it'll keep them busy ... And the early-adopters can get NFS-Rivals ... So let's rush GT6 ... because initially it had a 2-2014 introduction planned for GT6 ...
(this was decided about 07 /2013) so Kaz was asked to launch an early version of GT6 ... (we all feel the consequences of this)

Of course GT7 has been in development on PS4 as long as Knack, Watchdogs or Driveclub ... they surely have split teams for this with decreasing staff for GT6 ... so updates on GT6 take time ... with gradually less staff to support GT6 ... they are already pulling the plug on GT5 this spring which is quite early .. so more staff can be used to the latest developments (GT6/7) ....

As we all complain about minor issues about GT ... I've tried to approach it from a developers/higher force perspective ... I think it nicely distracts some fans of being negative about the launch line-up ... we don't mind the poor line-up ... GT6 is coming next week for PS3 ...

I was at the pre-launch presentation in october 2013 for PS4 and was surprised then about the number of PS3 games shown and demoed there : GT6, Beyond:two souls, The last of Us, Rain ...
now about three months further in time I get what they were doing ... spreading the attention of all different types of core gamers ... FPS ... Racing .. Sports ... Adventure ... Casual ... they all get their share ... although it was on different platforms ... (PS3/PS4) it was enough spread....

So i think the pressure on Kaz was high to come with an early release of GT6 ... they wanted Sony to win this holiday season battle of 2013

... and i guess they did ...

now we are just the fans of 1 franchise ... and we only represent a minor part in this big landscape ... so we got served pretty well i guess ...

Also I think nowadays Kaz can launch any date ... but Sony calls the shots ... we all heard him say it during the launch of GT5.... "it's out of my hands" ... and I expect he is telling the truth .... Kaz can develop what and when he likes ... but Sony decides when to launch ....

The short answer is no :sly:. The GT6 launch had nothing to do with extra pressure on Kaz or a conspiracy theory to keep all "classes of core gamers" happy at the launch of the PS4 due to "launch line-up troubles" i.e. the lack of a racer specifically GT6 on the PS4 since DC was pushed back.

The PS4 is a beast spec-wise with tons of power solely for gaming that devs are in love http://www.idigitaltimes.com/articles/21576/20140121/xbox-one-vs-ps4-sony-s-latest.htm with and is dominating the XB1 and WiiU around the globe with furious anger right now. For a console with so called "line-up launch problems," it has consistently been outselling the XB1 3:1 since launch http://www.spawnfirst.com/news/playstation-4s-selling-3-1-vs-xbox-one-amazon/

The system has been sold out worldwide for weeks on end in box stores and online at places like Amazon and Play-Asia so not sure which launch line up problems you're speaking of specifically, since Killzone: ShadowFall has dominated console exclusive, next-gen game sales so far http://n4g.com/news/1446232/sony-killzone-shadow-fall-sold-2-1-million-units and Drive Club was pushed back only to polish it more and get the highest level of graphic fidelity possible according to Evolution's ethos http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2014/01/why-this-next-gen-driving-game-wants-to-look-worse-to-feel-better/.

DC already exceeds Forza 5 (visually) in this department imho. PD & Sony have always released 2 GT's on every console thus far so the conspiracy theory while fun to imagine just isn't based in reality. Now imagine for a moment if you dare.... just how good GT7 will look and run on the PS4.... imagine.:gtplanet:

It was just a thought of mine .. trying to figure out why Kaz has pushed an in my opinion Beta version of GT6 in the market, where it wasn't really needed so early .... I love it, don't get me wrong ... but why didn't he deliver a more a "finished" version ...

:drool::drool::drool::drool::drool: ... when i try to depict how GT7 will look on PS4 ...

Yeah. I'm imagining how those PS2 race tracks and car models are going to look on the PS4 hardware. Oh, dear, it's gonna be frightful.

Polyphony were essentially forced to release GT6 when they did if you look at it from a marketing perspective. With all the hype in the gaming community focused on next-gen, and it being the holidays, they could not afford to delay GT6 until a later date. By then it would have been overshadowed by next gen, they would have missed out on guaranteed holiday sales as well as the loss of remaining casual GT fans.

What GT6 feels like to me is a rushed game to meet a deadline. But it's been 3 whole years. Some development studios go under if it takes them 3 years to release sequel. And honestly it makes me wonder what they were doing for those 3 years.

PD ride on the success of previous games, and I feel if they do not make some forward strides, they will lose more than their mojo.

Anyone played Ace Combat in PS2? It used to be awesome...and then for PS3, they released a product where it was a total fail. They messed with the success of the Ace Combat Franchise... It was their "New Coke" moment. If they had a clever idea why not start a new game/franchise and not mess with the winning formula.

I used to play just two games GT and Ace Combat. Ace Combat jumped the shark 2-3 years ago...so I ended up with GT5.

But now with GT6, it lookes like it too has jumped the shark with moon buggy and Micro/Macro transactions.

I see no reason to order a PS4 now. Sigh!
