Here's a very silly question.
If PD made the dash display in the real world why isn't the one in game fully functional with a click of R3 or something? :dunce:

1. What's the point? Stop and view telemetry during a race? 💡
2. This is only Prologue, in the full game you may well see this (but it's unlikely)

Well, it probably has a few screens that would show useful info (tire temp, brake temp, HP output?)

I barely have time to check the revs when I'm racing. Ususally I just go by sound and don't use the dash at all.

Putting more information on it would indeed be pointless.

I have to say that adding loads of things to the dash is rather pointless, you should be concentrating on driving not looking at the dash. :p The things might be there in real life but what exactly do they add to the game, the same goes for reverse lights  and no one wants them......................oh wait, that's not right. :banghead: Anyway my point is PD should only add things the make the game better, not waste their time on pointless things that really don't belong in a game.

If they did a small parody of it like a "BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH" in a GTR would give me a chuckle.

I don't expect them to make the multifunctional display in the GTR interactive but I think it would be nice if other cars had atleast the opening/menu screen, like the R34 GTR display is just blank.

Yamauchi said that we will only get limited details in the cockpits due to Prologue being w.i.p. im curious if thats the truth.

EDIT: They already fixed the F2007 display so why not in the other cars? We will see... 8)

Ok, I agree maybe some of the cockpits need a little more attention to detail and a little more colour, but it should only be done after other, more important things are completed.

I've always dreamt of being able to do something like this on GT5P cars which feature any form of information display monitors:

Wouldn't it be awesome? as someone said, it would be kind of useless but still great, nonetheless.

Interesting idea. Turn PSP into a display for information.

Really what's the point of including this, are you going to park up and zoom in on the screen whilst on the interior veiw?

[edit] The PSP is a good one, but I prefer the idea of it being a rearview mirror instead.

What would be cool if PD uses the same design (of the multi-function meter) as a tool for post race/drive analysis which is the function of the meter in the GTR. In GT4 there is a option to analyze race which I'm sure be in GT5. Of course, if GT5 comes with telemetry, the meter is perfect for that. I like the idea of using PSP to emulate the meter but I also like the idea of using it as the rear view mirror. The solution is to have both options on the PSP.

talking about infos on a screen in a car.

What do you think we have to look at when we race in real life? Water Temp, Oil Temp, Oil Pressure! and of course RPM's / Led's

What about if left and right buttons on psp changed what it was?

If you can't post something constructive, don't bother.

As for the question at hand, it's pretty simple really - the display is simply too small on the screen to be useful.

I can see it just fine on my 22".
Which would you rather see, the turbo boost with steering nonsense or the oil and water display...

I did post something constructive, mother.

yea that would be nice if the GTR would show exactly that display with that DATA!

Chris

Uhm oil and water temperature arent simulated in GT (so far of course), so why would you want that? You can see the turbo and the g-forces now iirc, which makes more sense since GT simulates both.

Why would I want to see a turbo gauge when I can already see one?

The M3's iDrive looks a bit boring. however. it's liveable.

Because (maybe) we will be able to switch the HUD off in the final game (i hope so at least). But at least the turbo thing is moving, a water temp. would just stand still, like the iDrive menu.

I thought we could already turn off the main hud?

Well... you all talk about the cockpit view "fails". I think, one of the most a dislike is the wheel steering. Do you remember that vid inside an F430 that turned the wheel like 180º? That was really cool... I don't know why the turn it off n Prologue :(

Like i already said:

Still nothing beats GT4 in the driver animations department, this is why im sure we will see something better in the full GT5, including head movement and an automatic look to apex (as an option, that would be really cool):
GT4 Caterham "on-board"
GT4 S2000 "on-board"

You could also drive a Cobra and then switch to the roof cam in the replay (especially awesome in Citta di Aria).

KY said they're working on the animations (he said that late 2007), they removed the hand-over animations from GT5P because they were directly from GT4 and they were not happy with them. We assumed by the time the US/PAL version was released the animations would be fixed but that never happened. I do expect them to be corrected for GT5.
