Maybe learn to brake properly and you'll be fine? Seriously, I havent had a problem driving this car flat out around the Nurburgring with no ABS.. Brake in a straight line, dont mash the brakes on and you should be fine.

maybe the drivers liked the handling to be more nippy, 4wd is not an ideal drivetrain for racing because of the understeer, heck its the same kind of toe i put on them because understeer sucks

This 👍 (without meaning to impugn anyone's braking ability)

And this 👍

I haven't driven the N24 that much but when I have, I've mostly just been happy it's not an understeering mess - quite the opposite actually. Nice pointy front end for 4wd.

It can win the 650pp Nurburgring Seasonal event with RM tires and no ABS, here's a vid of that in case anyone's interested...

Frankly, I don't think driving or braking skills is a problem for Phil_75.
His TT ranking and speed at the ring easily place him in the top 1%. Interesting that he should find difficulty controlling any car.

It's a showroom GTR with the race pack equipped. Which makes it heavier than a stock GTR.

The setup on it is to force the drivers to be conservative and considering it was raced in a 24 hour race and won in it's class, I'd say it served it's purpose.

No offense but it was the only car in its class, SP8T, there were only the 2 GT-R at the 2012 24 hrs.

No offense, but apart from the fact that two cars in the class doesn't make it "the only car in its class" and the fact that the second car finished 24 laps behind, the GT Academy team also finished as 30th total. Out of 170 cars. Pas mal.

Cheers!

I am good but not alien!

My issue with it is it just feels wrong more than can't control it!
Surely its wrong, correct me if i'm wrong but wouldn't a driver that had to do very long stints and the engineers want a car that is as easy to drive as possible and not one that threatens to swap ends and kill you when your very tired near the end of a race?

I'd have to look at the N24 setup again, I seem to recall thinking "that's a weird setup, but whatever, I'll try it" and then it worked for me so I left it alone. But the front seemed really soft maybe? Hope I don't have that backwards. I think you could probably correct it by matching it closer to a GT-R you prefer, or this might help: N24 Tuning Thread.

I remember during the Spa TT that some people posted quick tunings that involved making the rear super hard and front really soft, and I thought it felt really strange on the FGT (because softer also slows responsiveness). But on a heavy 4wd car maybe all that weight transfer makes it nice and nippy. I'll take that over understeer any day, nothing makes me lose my bearing like a front end that refuses to turn

Just a tought here (havent even tried the car) - maybe this car without any tweaks/setup is as close to the real thing as possible. I mean it might be slower than the stock gt-r IN THE GAME, but if i were Gaz I would have made this feel as close to the real car as possible without comparing it to its virtual versions already at the game. As it has been said a thousand times - gt5 as all other games, make cars have more grip than they do in real life. Maybe this car is slower and harder to drive because its MORE REALISTIC. right? 💡

Short: Take a wheel + take this GT-R N24 = you are as close to the real thing as virtually possible. :dopey:

But is it 4WD drive, you can't adjust the front diff. So if you go by that it's FR although the discription is 4WD.

@hotdogxx60 - I raised that point on another thread when this DLC was first released and was told that there are other cars in the game with non-adjustable LSDs - so it is definitely 4WD

My "problem" with it is that while its fun in game, it is nothing like the real car to drive!
Why would you want a car to handle like that in a 24hour race!?

Oh my.. Here we go...

Have you driven the car in real life? Unlikely, if so I would like to see pictures.. Also, it is stable, like one would expect a 24h car to be.. So long as you can brake properly and in a straight line and modulate the brake pedal..

Yeah great idea, lets build a car for a 24hr race where the drivers will be knackered on the worlds most dangerous and tricky circuit that threatens to swap ends during braking as opposed to one that doesn't.!

I really do belive the rear aero has not been moddelled correctly/at all and evidence is a non stock wing that cannot be adjusted and the afore mentioned strange behaviour of the car under braking.

That is my theory, not fact!

My theory is, that being world-class drivers driving the car, its second nature to brake in a straight line, keeping the car stable.. Thus why they can have such a bizarre set-up resulting in a stable car around the corners. My theory.

World class or not you still want a car that is as easy as possible to drive do you not?

Show me another race car that comes on race tyres that is not easy to drive and i don't want daft "i'm a driving god" answers like "it is easy, learn to modulate braking"
I am a good driver even if i say it myself and if i didn't beat you (meaning whoever gives smart answer!)in a race i would be up your arse the whole way.

I think the car should be as fast as possible. Unstable cars can be very fast if the driver can handle it..

The onboard video of the N24 GTR in real life :

Tobias Schulze record of 8 minutes 59.694 seconds.

Looks really great in real life, maybe we can learn from how he brake with the car on the track.

Kaz is not a world class racing driver, he's an amateur.

That backend looks firmly planted to me!

Having a good brake balance helps too, we don't know ho much front bias the real life car has ... and Tobias seems to brake mostly in straight line and around 5:55 - great save :)

I've only driven this car a few times but it is becoming a favorite car (certainly my favorite 4wd car). This afternoon I drove it around the 'Ring at evening time (lots of shadows) and the only time the rear got loose was when I touched it in the grass at Adenauer Forst, and when I was deliberately throwing it around through Wipperman, Eschbach and Brunnchen. I'm driving it stock apart from Racing Hard tires, 3/2 BB, and max front aero (35/45), no driver aids and ABS off. Even with mistakes and a lot of messing about, it did a 6'48.

Seems like the front springs are really strong compared to the rear, and then they have nearly equal camber on front and rear. Normal LSD. To me, the car feels closer to a FR handling but with some of the advantages of 4wd (front can pull you out of a slide). But it's responsive and goes where I want it to, that's what I like.

I think you have the wrong car! I think a couple of people have.
You cannot change aero and it comes on RH tyres stock!

Its the new DLC one with yellow headlights we' re talking about, i think you are talking about the Shultz, come to think of it, isn't that youtube video of the Shultz too?

No, it 2012 qualifying - 2012 car, did you watch the video ? On the description it said about how the GTR is faster than last year's car ( Schulze GTR) by almost 7 seconds. Click on more info on my youtube embedded link.

Yes it was just writing at the start that says its driven by Tobiaz Schultz so i thought it was schultz car. Didn't watch right till the end.

OMG "...do I feel sheepish?" :dunce: Right you are, sir.

Wow, just wow. The differences between the 2012 N24 and the 2011 are astounding. Not in a good way. Now I totally see where you were coming from with the random losing the rear (especially over rumble strips in Hatzenbach for instance) but also the hideous understeer. The stock tuning is just mind-bogglingly stupid... I bought the kits and I've been trying to get a good tune on the thing for half an hour now. Yes, certain things are still not able to be tuned even with the kits!! Solid front axle, with 4WD are you freaking kidding me? And no ability to tune torque balance front to rear... scoff. Who knows what strange electronic drivel is going on with this thing? Looks to me like they released a broken DLC car, or they have deliberately hidden aspects of the car for proprietary racing team reasons.

I ran a lap against the ghost of the aforementioned evening lap in the 2011 car that did a 6'48 quite easily and comfortably. Yeah. At T5 (up the hill just after Bergwerk) the 2012 car was 9, count 'em, NINE, seconds behind the 2011 ghost. And sweating bullets trying to get the car to trace the line I wanted. Needless to say, I didn't finish the lap.

Thankyou, see i' m not alone in thinking there is something wrong!

Now could you imagine that is how it drives in real life?

Not a chance!
