I just got the PSN trophy for the nurnburgring time trial in a GT-R. Who else has done it? My settings were SRF on, TCS off, ABS off, Brake balance 2/2. I used a dual shock 3 controller. My time: 7:26.405.

If you can't seem to do it, try these settings.

Very odd settings ... how did you change the brake balance in Arcade mode with a DS3? You can do it with a DFGT, but I don't think it can be done with a controller.

I first got the trophy with SRF accidentally on ... it was on from a license test or something where it forces you to use it, LOL. I was so happy until I noticed that, then I was crushed.

I had to redo the challenge with all aids off except ABS 1 which was much harder and took many tries but finally beat the time. Anyway, the SRF is worth about 10 seconds around the Nordschleife. Not that I can argue with anyone using aids on a GTR since it probably has more real life aids than any other car in history, LOL.

What is this time trial trophy you speak of? Is there others? Am I missing a big part of this game?

It's a trophy for driving the Nissan GT-R around the Nurburgring in the same time as it completed it in real life

i got 7.33 my first time around, i dont think itll be too much trouble shaving 4 seconds off.

i would have replied faster but i got distracted for about 10 mins by wajdi1977s avatar....

You get the trophy for beating the GTR Official record on the Nordschleife. You have to do it in Arcade mode with the Arcade GTR (can't use your own) on Sports Hard tires. One of the best challenges in the game IMO.

The time trial is for a PSN trophy.

Brake Balance settings can be changed with a dual shock 3 by setting buttons for the "RA Controls" in the options menu.

My controls are:
L1/R1 for shifting
Analog sticks for gas/brakes/steering
R2 E-Brake
L2 Rear View
Square is RA menu
Dpad is RA controls

I used SRF because all it does is make the car faster artificially. It's a handicap for newbies, sure, but I just wanted to get the trophy and decided to use all available advantages.

Since learning about the RA controls, I never use ABS. I set the strength of the brakes to 2/2 for comforts/SH tires, 3/3 up to racing hards, and possibly 4/4 for up to racing softs. Keep in mind that when at x/x the brakes still work as though they have the default brake bias front/rear. More in front.

This knowledge should greatly help anyone who wants to gold challenges in GT5 with a dual shock 3 controller.
👍

Interesting ... I never knew you could do that with a DS3. 👍
I found that changing the brake balance on some of the license tests helps a lot too.

Ive nailed all the expert challenges, I even did the Focus ST one without aids on however, I still cant do this GTR one! haha. driving me mad, I only need to find 4 seconds.

Yeah sure and you didn't know what he meant... so why do you care about that?

Yeah. I knew what he meant. But really, if you call yourself a car person and play this game, you should know.

I just followed the title misspelling just for the laughs :ouch:

Of course I know how to spell Nürburgring.

frustrating. i was 4 seconds ahead of my time, the lost it over breaking on the straight while turning and spun out right at the end >:|

I did it first go. I had never driven the Nurburgring in GT5 or even touched the GT5 GT-R. I had a massive spin and completely stopped just before the pit entry. 7:27.XXX.

I had another few goes when I got challenged to go faster. I managed to pull out a 7:24.XXX

Yeah I had the same problem. Keep doing consecutive laps, though. You can focus on the first half of the course and gain the advantage you need. Take it easy of the latter half, where there's a lot of sections that are not worth flooring it as much as you can.

No you didn't. Not on your first try, first lap on the Nurb in GT5 and first lap in the GTR on sports hards. I rarely call BS but that post is total BS.

Firstly +1 to Obsidian-2's comment.

But I finally got this today after months of trying, though not quite how I wanted.

Using what I see as a realistic setup with TC on and Grip Reduction on Real, I could get to 7:33's which I feel is not too bad.
But to get the trophy and end my frustration I first tried with ASM and Low Grip Reduction and could get an easier '32 /'33. Then I turned the ASM off and just used SRF and blitzed it, the first lap on my run had a 4 wheels off through Pflantzgarten 2 when I pushed a touch too much but still got an allowed 7:27 so I went again and came through with a clean 7:25.
There is of course still much more to come with the SRF setup, but I'm only going to keep trying with the more realistic setup to try and get closer to the 7.29. If I could use a turned down ASM which is probably like a GTR uses I think I could get closer.

Also, on topic, I got it done with SRF and ABS at 1. I don't care about honour, I just wanted it over and done with lol.

That is so much BS i could ever think of! I am one of the fastest people in the nordics and i can ensure you that you are talking complete bull. I can challenge you any time online, i will whipe the floor with you.

On topic: This challenge is quite fun, but still pretty challenging. But also a fun feature they added. i like that :D

The only thing I found challenging about this challenge is the horrid GT-R handling. It's so unnatural, so artificial, other than that, the time is beatable by a big margin.

What is the actual time that has to be beaten? 7:30?
