493 to all 4 wheels vs 493 to 2 is not fair at all.

I'll also say it "feels" like the GT-R is faster then it should be (hmmm Kaz has no favoritism for the GT-R does he?) the ZO6 seems a bit tame until tuned.

Just did a test between the same cars this time completely stock... The way they came.

Here are the results of the new hot laps:

GT-R = 1:34.810

Corvette = 1:36.049

Again. Not a big difference, but the GT-R still won.

Car analyzation:

The GT-R drove the same way it did before, just slightly slower. Its just a very stable and well cornering car. Thats how it gets the job done!

The Corvette drove differently than it did before. It had the advantage on the straights and felt lighter in the corners, but due to the lack of weight in the rear and suspension tuning, it was very loose through the corners, so I had to manage the power carefully so the rear tyres wouldn't slip, which is the reason the car failed to keep up with the GT-R.

If the Corvette was as stable as the GT-R I am positive it would holds its own against it.

It has nothing to do with player bias or skill. I know how to drive both cars and how to keep the Corvette under control.

This test is flawed specifically because you handicapped the Corvette by giving it a lower PP than the GT-R.

False.

"PP: GT-R= 542 Corvette= 531 (Had to adjust the weight and power to meet the PPs of the GT-R)"

I lowered the Corvette's weight and raised its power equally to meet the GT-R's 542 as I stated in the original post.

The Corvette actually had more power and was lighter, but it wouldn't have made a difference, either way.

Maybe I didn't point that out strongly enough.

Gees, people get all up in arms over such things.

Why are you still arguing? Every test (and tests in real life) show that the GT-R is faster...

Yeah, why am I?

I mean most of the thread is just filled with others attacking me over what is undeniable truth, anyway.

I'm Done.

Look mate, we were just pointing out the flaws in your test.
If you go back and read my posts:idea: I said that the GT-R would probably be faster, and it was. Yes the Corvette can have traction issues due to its FR layout, thats why some people enjoy driving it more than a GT-R.

Happy driving:)

It's difficult to understand because your first post is very unclear and disorganized.

If they're at equal PP, state what PP they are at, what weight they are at, and what the peak power is at that PP. If you've got them at the exact same PP with the exact same weight and peak power, you're doing something wrong or something extraordinarily right, because it's nigglingly difficult to balance the PP-Weight-HP equation that way. In fact, it's almost impossible to do it in other instances between two cars with almost identical engines... let alone cars with such diverse engine builds, powerbands and aspiration types!

-

In any case, which car is better at the same power and weight is a difficult question to answer using Gran Turismo 5 as a testing tool. Simply because we don't know what tire they modelled the GT-R on. While the GT-R is listed as being on "Sports Hard" tires, if one is on the Bridgestones and the other is on the Dunlop Sports, this can equate to a difference of two seconds or more per lap versus the all-weather tires that come as standard on the GT-R or Z06.

-

This is not to say that I believe the Z06 is faster... or that it is even nearly as fast at the same PP, but you could have formatted the first post much more clearly. This is the reason people are taking issue with your testing.

-

And saying that something is "undeniable truth" based on a single test with so many subjective factors just isn't good research.

If there are so many butt hurt people complaining that the Corvette is faster, then why are there hardly anyone that races them online? I see race trim about 10/1 to production modified.

Tell that to Jan Magnussen and Tommy Milner and until the Nissan has as many wins under it's belt as the Corvette does you really don't have much of an argument!

i dont believe those reviews they make a car win when want it to win -_-

the corvette zo6 keep up with the gt-r in corners is a secret weapon called LIGHTNESS thats play a big part in corners

for me i like the gt-r and i dont care whos faster
from begining of gt5 i usually race in a gt-r its very good in every way

but i'm wondering in one thing
why did you change the settings ( power and weight bla bla bla ) ?
keep it stock and lets see the results please

And in the real world ....

The Mclaren F1 94', the Nissan 98' Road Car thing, and the GTR-V spec 09 are the three best road going cars, along with the R8 Caltronic thing. On the nurburgring you will get wasted in the Ferrari Enzo by the GTR-V spec.

A fully tuned Lamborghini Super Veloce or Gallardo can keep up but its much much harder, I saw this guy doing it and he looked like he was in a drifting Gran Prix. Smoking the tires so much I couldnt see ahead and its probably why I couldnt pass him in the GTR.

Wish the Z06 Carbon was in the game. It was a bit faster than the 09-10 GTR's. It's a factory made car as well. Basically all the ZR1 goodies added except the ZR1's engine.

GTR's are usually faster in RL especially since the Z06 tires are crap stock. The Z06 Carbon addresses this issue and one test I saw between the GTR and Carbon had the GTR win by a 10th if a second if memory serves. According to the mag driver they had multiple laps with the GTR but only 1-2 laps with the Carbon and it would have ultimately been faster had they had as many laps as the GTR. I like em both but I'm faster with the GTR too. Not many street cars can mess with my Spec V in game. Only street cars I've tried so far that can beat up on my Spec V are my Mclaren F1, Viper ACR and the Veyron and Enzo (track dependent for the last two)

Using the same suspesnion settings doesn't make any sense. The cars need to run settings that are best for them.

The GT-R should be heavier, because that's what AWD does. The Z06 was unfairly handicapped.

Also, the Z06 Carbon has no problem running with GT-R's. Recall that the Z06 in game is the first gen C6 with the poorest handling. The car was improved nearly every year.

I just did a lot lap with the GT-R with the same settings just with 90% of the power going to the rear wheels and my best time so far is 1:30.440.

I'm telling. The GT-R is just better around the corner period.

There is no need to do a test with both cars stocked because its already been done.

This is still very flawed logic. Even as little as 10% of the torque being sent to the front wheels will do wonders for a car's cornering abilities, especially when a very sophisticated computer is applying that power in just the right way to mitigate understeer and pull the front of the car through the corner. A 90/10 torque split is very different from a 100/0 split. And as others have said, this advantage is naturally accompanied by a weight penalty, which you have gotten rid of for this test. A GT-R probably is a faster car around most tracks, but your test doesn't prove this at all.

The corvette is 500lbs lighter, lower, shorter, wider and, now uses stickier tires that are wider and yet it is still slower in real life and in the game.

they tested the lightened package for the zo6
i think they should test the lightened package for the gt-r its called the SPEC V

They did not need to, GTR had better acceleration and lap times. Also specV would have skewed the price range, which was the basis for comparison. I would like to see SpecV vs. ZR1, should be a closer battle.

the thing is between the gt-r and the corvette
both cars made for different things
the gt-r made for power tracks hard corners
the corvette for drag races

Read the OP and it sounds to me like you should stick to the GTR when racing.

I don't know why some of you are so upset about this.

.

Do you live on earth ?
Have you not realised if you criticize anything American (z06) or say it is even a fraction slower than something else (especially a gtr, they do have a grudge against superior engineering keep that in mind) to a predominately American audience, then you have to expect people to be upset, confused, hysterical, depressed.
In their country they have never heard a bad word spoken about them, so when they step into the big wide world of the internet, it invokes these reactions. Hope you learned something.

I had a poll up a while ago asking which of these was better.
Here it is.

I think the main thing about the GT-R that plays in its favor is how its AWD system works.

For the most part the GT-R acts like an FR Machine where the front wheels only come into play when slip is detected. This gives it the handling agility in the twisties and the stability at corner exit.

Now if you were to have a car like the Subaru STi which is AWD all the time with an even torque split front/back then the results may not be the same because you would have to take a different approach to cornering.

What i wanna know about the AWD and YAW systems etc in the GTR's and Evo's is if you turn Traction Control,SRF,ASM off , do these real life technologies still function?
Like its either YAW or AYC in the Evo X that they changed in one the patches so obviously they actual car's electronic traction systems are modelled but what affect does turning aids off have with these system's ??

Anyone out there bothered to test or know?

Thank you for being mature.

Very few people have really tried to argue that the Z-06 was better in this thread. Most of the comments have just been critical of the way he went about performing his tests.
