What's everyone's verdict on Baku then? Am I the only one that sees it as being little on action?

There is not much overtaking but the cars look spectacular going through the chicanes. The marshals are a little bit slower than would be ideal when recovering cars (well they were yesterday at least). I think the quality of the drivers and teams on the grid is brilliant though 👍

Edit: The first 10 minutes of the championship race had loads of action :O

Any reason why the Bathrust 12 hour seems to be gaining so much popularity lately?

Any reason for it not to? Come on man! It's Bathurst!!
And as we all know the GT-AM business is booming!! Lol!

It was popular in Australia as a production car race the past few years. Before that, it was 24Hours. Then, GT cars were allowed which meant production cars weren't going ro win outright and many participants left.now, with GT3 cars the main attraction and the legendary status of the track being shown worldwide, everyone wants a crack. I mean, Allan Simonsen raced there, Bernd Schneider won it, Mika Salo participated. GT Academy will be there with the R35 GT-R. It's on!

Erebus Motorsport won’t be the only Mercedes team in next year’s Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour, with leading German outfit HTP Motorsport set to make a maiden appearance in the race. The team will field a single Mercedes in the February event, which is already confirmed to include international squads such as AF Corse, Nismo, United Autosports and Clearwater Racing.HTP won the final two rounds of this year’s Blancpain Endurance Series, including the Spa 24 Hours, while its driver Maximilian Buhk claimed the Pro Cup title.Although no drivers have yet been confirmed for Bathurst, HTP’s line-up for the final two rounds of the BES also included DTM legend Bernd Schneider.

ALLAN SIMONSEN TROPHY FOR BATHURST 12H

The Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour team has the full support of our family to create the Allan Simonsen Pole Position trophy,” said Benny Simonsen, Allan’s younger brother and fellow GT racer.“He told me that Bathurst was his favourite track and he just loved to go there. It is an honour to have the pole position award to be named after him.”The new trophy coincides with a revised qualifying format that will see three sessions held on the Saturday of the February 6-8 event.

But the It is sort of akin now to the Dubai 24 hours in my opinion. They work with GT and Touring Cars like the Dubai 24 hours race. And I think that a very positive avenue for race organisers to explore.

Great to have another international team return to the race. It's quite fun to see these big european teams sharing the grid with the local teams.

Vita4one BMW's complete capacity Bathurst grid.
A pair of BMW Z4Ms from former World Championship winning GT outfit Vita4One Racing headline a capacity final entry list for the 2014 Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.

Race organisers have released the complete line-up this morning (Monday) following Friday’s entry cut-off.

The 55 car field is six up on this year’s and features 35 GT cars spread across the top two classes.

The appearance of the Michael Bartels-owned Vita4One entries is a major coup for the race, which has rapidly grown since the introduction of GT3 machinery in 2011.

Vita4One took out the FIA GT1 World Championship’s teams’ title in 2010 having won the corresponding accolade in the FIA GT Championship for the previous five years in succession.

It's official, the '14 race is going to be freakin awesome.

Class A is looking absolutely fantastic, but I would've loved to have seen some Z4's and MP4-12C's in there too. I know Tony Quinn has an MP4-12C but he seems reluctant to race it for whatever reason. It would be great to make it out to the race in the next couple of years, I've been to the track recently to drive a couple of laps and see the museum there but it's been almost 10 years since I've been to Bathurst for a race.

Has the MP4-12C underperformed this year? Thats the only thing I can think of why he wouldnt race it. Would be sweet to see it on the grid. Its aweso, e still with the different classes.

The McLaren didn't run the season. He was in his Aston. It ran at Highlands in the final (with Murphy and Crompton?) and did alright.
I think I remember reading somewhere that he keeps it at highlands as a promo car but I'm not certain. He does like his Aston though.
He has a few other GT3 cars sitting around too, like the 458 he raced once and the switched back to the Aston, and a Mosler or two. Not exactly sure but, that is the only thing I can think of.
I still wish United would stick with taking the McLaren to Bathurst. That's 2 years in a row they have ditched the McLaren in favour of an Audi.
It will be good to see the battles between HTP, AF Corse, United, Vita4One etc, but I hope it will only be for 3rd. Come on Erebus 1 2 :P

God damn, disregard half of my previous post. Mind went blank and forgot about the Vita4One Z4's right after reading about it. Anyway, the aforementioned team is promising a strong line-up for the event. I always love to see international take on the locals at Bathurst, whatever the category, especially when they bring their own machinery. It's going to get to the point where the small Aussie teams will be the underdogs!

Really excited for British GT's next year, don't know why.

It's kicked off my Oulton Park season for many years now, and the current form it's in astounds me. I love everything about it!

Jav
^^Probably because GT racing is awesome!!

Could also be because even though we have just started seeing 2014 entries come in we already have 8 different makes and models. The only replication of cars is Team LNT and Fox Motorsport who both will run Ginetta G55's. All the other 7 teams have something different. Team Parker have the G50 but theirs subtle differences. There is a Ferrari 458 Italia, Lotus Evora, Aston Martin Advantage, Audi R8, BMW Z4 and the new Bentley Continental GT.

GT racing is fabulous, from the top of the international playing field, right down to club meetings. I defy you not to feel a rush of excitement watching the Blancpain Endurance Series, British GT's, International GT Open, Supercar Challenge, Britcar or GT Cup. Supercar Challenge is one I'll be particularly interested in this year. GT1 cars, GT2 cars and GT3 cars coming to Brands Hatch in 2014!

M3 GTR WILL MAKE ITS APPEARANCE AT THE 2014 BATHURST 12H

The annual Bathurst round the clock race is regarded as one of the world's most prestigious international GT endurance races, and the Pacific Garage proprietor will be driving what real showpiece of cars, a magnificent BMW E46 M3 GTR with two Queenslanders, the car owner Anthony Gilbertson and Angus Chapel.

An extremely highly regarded driver, and like Clements a BMW specialist, Gilbertson will go to next month's event as a defending class champion, having won the Production car title last year on the mountain in a BMW 335i with Parkes driver Peter O'Donnell and the young Kiwi sensation Andre Heimgartner.

A resident of Goonellabah, Clements was asked by Gilbertson mid way through 2013 to join himself and Chapel in the M3 GTR to contest the event as a real chance of victory in Class D, which is invitational for cars over 4000cc.

Three teams confirmed for the Blancpain Endurance Series. ROAL Motorsport will run 2 BMW Z4 GT3's, There is a Jaguar XF for Freddy Barth, Lorenz Fey and Gabriele Garden at Emil Frey Racing and Insight Racing will run team manager Martin Jensen and Dennis Anderson in the Pro-Am class (with a 458 Italia I think)
