Yes. The fight over 4th place was brilliant. six or seven cars in the fight for it.đź‘Ť

I'm looking forward to the GT1 race now. It's a shame I can't watch the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race in the meantime.

Edit.

Great finish to the GT1 race as well.

Stefan MĂĽcke is in a lot of trouble.

Well, that was 3 days fantastic entertainment and some of the closest racing I've seen at the silverstone GT event for many years, the GT3 and 4 were spectacularly close. GT1 was great too although spoiled slightly by some silly accidents - and yes Stefan Mucke is a very silly boy, it happened almost right in front of me and he was clearly being an idiot and trying to prove a point.

Anyone going to Silverstone, the stand at Becketts was definitely the best place to watch from that I found (and I moved around a lot) and the new paddock is great although be prepared, it is an almighty pain in the derrier to get to when there is racing going on.

I was a guest of Sumo Power today. I'll post some of the stuff.

Mucke's Aston after his quite ridiculous revenge take-out on the JRM GTR. Fair to say he came off worse.

Get the bus there!

And yeah that looked like a good place could you see down the wellington straight from there by the way?

According to David Croft on Twitter, the incident was reported to ASN with the recommendation that his licence be suspended.

I wouldn't be surprised, it was one of the most ridiculous things I have seen from a driver during a race.

I watched the GT1 race from Becketts and it was a great place to watch (apart from the wind!). You could see them sweep through Maggots / Becketts and also through Abbey, Village and the The Loop.

Not sure what Stefan Mucke was trying to do there, looked pretty stupid from where I was sitting

A good days racing and well worth the entry fee

Did anyone see the colelction of Supercars they had, that old Corvette Stingray looked amazing!

JUst got this tweet from planetlemans:

planetlemans twitter account
FIA recommended DMSB to withdraw Stefan MĂĽcke's driving licence immediately and act accordingly after Silverstone GT1 race. Impact for AMR?

The only downside for AMR is that they'll need to find somebody else to drive the car alongside DT.

Problem is most people who are decent and have had recent GT1 experience, particularly in a DBR9 are already in GT1.

Well, ACO isn't usually lenient towards reckless drivers, even when they do stupid things by mistake, so I'd guess AMR's 007 LMP car could see a change in their driver lineup for this weekend.

I say ... field David Brabham in the 007 :D

Are you forgetting he's already a Sumo Power driver?

EDIT: Oh me being dim, you're on about the 24 Hours. I doubt Brabs would want to go in the AMR-One in it's current state.

I think we best not go off topic, I thought we were discussing a replacement for the #7 Fischer DBR9.

Nice to see this thread getting some attention, before I post the final results of both GT1 and GT3 from the Sunday, I thought I'd share some of the photo's I took across the weekend. You can check out more on my Flickr (link in my sig).

Is anybody else worried by the ever shrinking grid this year? I hadn't even realised about the Swiss Lamborghinis. Considering what Stephane Ratel has said already this year I can't see GT1 existing next year.

I'm quite worried too, starting to look unlikely GT1 will exist in it's current form next year. As well as Swiss Racing skipping Silverstone due to damage, both the Corvette teams have only been running one car since the first round, despite saying they'd both have a second car running soon.

Half way through the season and still both teams have one car. That said Hezeman's is doing a good job of keeping their Corvette on the pace of everyone else.

I think that's mainly because Hezemans has been driving a Corvette since the stone age and knows it inside-out.

Most likely, they seemed to perform well this weekend too. That pairing with Zuber seemed to be a good idea seeming they both have experience of driving the 'Vette's. Would be nice to see the other two Corvette's appear at a round this year though. For a World Championship 18 cars aren't enough.

 Zuberman, I think you're getting confuzzled. It's Andreas Zuber.

From what I can gather, getting spares for the Vettes is an increasingly difficult job and with those an the Astons due to be phased out next year, things don't look good. On the flip side, gt3 seems to get stronger with a 27 car grid, the newly homologated SLS's and 458's looking very good and McLaren and (alledgedly) Lexus coming on board next year, this seems to be where the interest is at.

Seems everyone here has missed this (google translated from french):

In parallel to the World Endurance Championship, a new elite of the GT class in the program will be from 2012, still under the auspices of the FIA. Beginning next year, a new World GT class will be launched which will present the GT1-2011, GT2 and GT3-2009-2011, all to allow a maximum of brands to compete in a single World Championship FIA GT. Of course, a detailed examination of the performance of different cars will be put in place so that everyone is benefiting. We should finally see a battle between the brands already present in GT3, but at a higher level: Audi, BMW, Corvette, Lamborghini, Lotus, Nissan, Ford, Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin or Mercedes.

Stephane Ratel we had confided in Abu Dhabi last March that he expected approval from the FIA in order to open the floodgates to accept a maximum of marks. With two championships which are accepted GT, the choice will be agonizing for the teams. Finish 1st scratch in a series where only the GT will have the right to ride or grab the implementation of the class in the World Endurance Championship. What will it invitations for the 24 Hours of Le Mans? COA sulk she teams championship competitor?

One thing is sure, the BMW M3 will be excluded, because only the GT2-2009 will be accepted. Not better for the Lotus Evora! The statement the FIA said in addition to the GT1-2011. Presumably only the Lamborghini Murcielago, Nissan GT-R and Ford GT will be participating. Ford was a Ford GT (Matech) GT1, Doran-Ford (Robertson) and Ford GT GT2 (Fischer Racing) GT3. Amazing that principle to accept only GT2-2009. Porsche 911 GT3-RSR could drive configuration 2009 and not 2011?

So exit the GT1 World as we know now giving way to a World Championship FIA GT where diversity should be expected. Now remains to ascertain the position of SRO face this announcement from the FIA and know how many cars will be accepted. Is limited to 24 or opens the floodgates? Hope that the second solution is proposed. What is certain is that teams will have the choice of the championship but it will require the appropriate budget ...

Yeah on the Stefan Mucke topic... Mucke is a DĂĽsseldork from DĂĽsseldorf for doing that. Anyway, his license should be revoked not just from driving at the track, but maybe on the street, too? Hmmmm. --- Randy

 Zuberman, I think you're getting confuzzled. It's Andreas Zuber.

Whoops. I must have been getting confused! It's like a combination of Hezemans and Zuber.
