....Forgive me but other than some dramatic color filter, I can't see much difference between the two.

Probably the YT vid compression is at fault here anyway.

Truth be told, both games look prettier than ScaJo in a tight black number so it's all good...

Well isn't that something: GT has the more saturated colours, pristinely shiny cars, and the exaggerated lighting bloom effects. Strangely enough, I've yet to read many comments about how cartoony it is... :p

Joking aside, that's how I feel too. We're definitely spoiled in 2016 in terms of graphics, even on these "lowly" consoles.

👍

Both GTS and FM6 look and sound close enough to each other. In some cases FM6's cars seem less game like but the lighting on the 'Ring in GTS looks so much better to me.

I am not worried about how GTS looks and sounds as what we have is good enough to me. However, I am slightly concerned over the lack of showing gameplay featuring time and weather features. Nothing screams fun like driving a car in cockpit mode on the 'Ring in the middle of the night.

GTS looks much more realistic
Nah, too shiny and overblown bloom effects like it's an early 360 game. They should do a comparison with AC and PCars as well.

You realized @SlipZtrEm was satirically joking, right?

Physics, nothing to do with laser scan

In GT6 if you try to straight line the curve too much your tires can get stuck on curbs and if you hit it little hard at some angles you loose control of car. So it is important to get the curbs right. Simtourist was saying Polyphony have done shoddy job but the funny thing is even the PS2 version the track was very accurate and the new one is probably the best.

I'd say Forza has the better sounds, but good God, does GT Sport look good.

GTS looks much more realistic

In Brand Hatch the color, contrast, saturation is not of my liking but the lighting in this game amazing. They are very good in gfx even in GT6 on some lighting condition it looked very realistic:

GTS Williow spring would be better than real life

Not sure what you mean, but GTS does indeed look less realistic than GT5, which I think is the best in terms of realistic color pallet, GT6 and S just aren't reaching the same look, in GTS cars seem overly shiny and sun is reflecting everyone, I don't see that stuff in RL. Forza isn't perfect either, so I think it's a tie between the two, the gap is much smaller than FM4 and GT5 for example. If you wanna see real look at F1 2016 or Assetto Corsa, I think both of them nailed the lighting.

I'm thinking you aren't going to hear your own exhaust from nose cam. ;) But I know the majority want ear bleeding car sounds so I'm deferring to the mob on that. And by the way, it was Forza 5 which had the oversaturated color palette. The images are gorgeous, but decidedly color pumped.

I can hardly wait for GT Sport. It's going to push all my buttons from the reports coming in from these unfinished builds. Three or four months more work means more goodies.

Can you link to some of the quotes where people wanted "ear bleeding" sounds or words to that effect?

Yes let's waste time nitpicking over irrelevant and ephemeral "quotes" but for a tongue in cheek comment...
"History"

For what it's worth, I've seen plenty of people totally unironically use the word "visceral" in the context of a target sound aesthetic, to say nothing of marketers. That's my go-to tongue-in-cheek favourite, as opposed to "ear bleeding" (ear eviscerating?), so it often gets a rise out of me. :D

The way I see it, both games take place at different times of day, GT Sport's Brands GP being at a later time of day where the colours start to subdue and you see the machine's brighter colours start to pop alot more with the contrast of what's left of the sun and the headlights, while FM6's Brands seems to take place during the midday when the sky is clear and the sun is shining brightest. You can see a similar type of environment at Tokyo Expressway. Don't take my word for it though, it might just all be a cartoon after all.

Yes, the time of day is important to consider. I don't think it's fair to call GTS oversaturated based on a comparison in which GTS' Brands is set at dusk and FM6's is set on an overcast day. Dusk should naturally produce more saturated colors and bloom than normal daylight. If you want an accurate comparison, take gameplay in the same conditions. Additionally, FM6's Rio is so heavy on the color it makes Ridge Racer look like Gears of War, so these claims about Forza having the most realistic lighting are a little absurd.

There's also the difference between the response of a camera and the retina at lower light intensities; i.e. "mesopic vision". The differential absorption of different wavelengths leads to what looks to us to be a cooler palette at dusk (offset by the orange-red tinge of atmospheric refraction / scattering), so when it's reproduced with photography it tends to look too warm (but it's a nice "artistic effect").

By which I mean it's likely PD are modelling the lighting based on what they could measure, with cameras.

We all know that Gran Turismo has fantastic lighting, and GTS is no different. However, it does seem as though PD are now going into serious depths to recreate realistic lighting, with physics-based material that @Griffith500 is discussing.
