So the reason I asked was because the image I posted has the "LF21" set 3 and "LR22" set 3 on the side walls.

The images on the gran-turismo site don't:

Problem is the real car does have the markings on the side wall, but I'm just thinking.......What if?

Might be a Bugatti provided render rather than the model as presented in game by Polyphony. I'm fairly confident it isn't a real car though, because it just doesn't look it.

Edit: tree'd by @GTPorsche by 0.000001 seconds.

Quick query: Is this image from the Bugatti website the real car or a render?

Those tyre markings are visible in the VGT trailer, where the camera rotates around the car before they start driving it. It could be a PD render...?

Interesting. The thing to check would be if the actual PDI-provided shots on the GT site show the markings.

Edit: no, they don't. Not on either side of the car. Bugatti's rendering of the car is therefore might be slightly different to how Polyphony have captured it. I would assume the writing on the tyres wasn't supposed to be part of the car's design, so it might be something to do with it being the real car being built with those tyre markings.

Can't see any...

It's a Bugatti render. The details of the render are different from PD's render.

Thanks lads.

@oli440 That is interesting because my pet dream theory is that the Bugatti site render could be a GT7 model and the ones on the gran-turismo site are GT6 models?

Ooh. That's a bold and refreshing theory, and eminently possible...

That being said, I can't personally see why PDI would use one render and give Bugatti an almost identical, but slightly improved one. I think the design of the car, and the model, are down to the manufacturer to provide when it comes to Vision GT cars. I think the "other" is Bugatti's.

Doesn't mean to say PD don't have access to the more detailed version.

I don't think PD is at the point any longer where they need to tone down the renders.

Besides, the image and render in question are the header for the Bugatti website.

I suspect the PS4 is powerful enough to use the highest LoD models all the time, instead of the whole rendered promo vs. in-game footage thing we had going on with GT5.

GT6 was basically like hitting a brick wall, because the hardware just wouldn't evolve any further.

The PS3 era of Gran Turismo is undoubtedly the darkest the series has ever seen. The PS3 was criticized for being extremely difficult to develop games with. Gabe Newell from Valve went as far as saying the PS3 was a 'waste of everyone's time'. http://www.wired.com/2007/10/valves-gabe-new/

Of all the developers that worked with the PS3, Polyphony Digital were by far the most ambitious. Unfortunately, that ambition turned into a painful grind to get things done: hence why GT5 took five years to make.

The PS4 on the other hand has been designed with developing ease in mind.

In theory, Gran Turismo on PS4 should continue where Gran Turismo 4 left off in terms of developing efficiency.

PS3 has been complicated for PoDi, yes. But they recovered well with GT6.

GT6 was mainly there to put GT back on track, while preparing the next generation and make money.

They will be able to move up a gear with PS4 :) I can't wait to see the first images/trailers of GT7

...Eternal optimist, eh? Cool. Me too, I can't wait to see what PDI will do. Kaz and co. ain't a bunch of dummies so they must know where they were lacking last gen.

By the way, whenever I read your post, I imagine it being spoken with a wicked German accent. Why's that?

You successfully summarised in three short paragraphs what it's taken the rest of us nine pages to explain!

Yes, I do I think that PDI massively over-promised, aimed way too high, and fell short once they realised the complexity of the PS3. See, I loved GT5, but a lot of people were disappointed, and that's fair enough, because it was a very flawed game in many respects. The same people then expected GT6 to be a massive improvement, but the issue was that it was a PS3 release. They kind of had to just make do with the assets they had to get GT6 out the door, because as @oli440 mentioned, GT6 had hit a sort of technological ceiling in terms of actual evolution of the game.

The thing is, with the power and ease of development provided by the PS4, what would you have to have in mind to overstretch the PS4 in the same way PDI did with the PS3? Your vision would have to be almost incomprehensibly ambitious to say "nope, we can't do this with the PS4".

What I'm getting at is that the PS4 is possibly the first console that is powerful enough, yet easy enough to deliver for, to actually give PDI a shot to deliver their grand vision for a racing game in a hopefully relatively uncompromised fashion.

Guys, thx for the last 50 posts. Really enjoying!
Glad you think so :) I mean, I've procrastinated 80% of today because of this, but hey it seems it was worth it. Nothing like a bit of speculation to fill the tender of the hype train with coal :D :D

Easy. Try DriveClub level visuals, 45 cars on track offline, standing start, in the rain, with 500k polygons, while maintaining 1080p/60fps. DriveClub can't even come close to that number of cars on track with 250k polygons and is only 30 fps, while PCars can achieve that car count but only with 80k polygons and with less visual detail. The PS4 is a mid-range gaming pc at best. I'm sure PD will do great things with it, but it's not all powerful.

I'd be happy with just 24 cars personally. Assuming they'll use the 500k models, the console should hopefully hold out with that figure. How many poly's did the premium versions have on track for GT6?

Thats weird cause he is French as far as I know.

well, definitely not 500k :P

45 cars might be pushing it.

I have a thread dedicated to this topic. I came up with 24 is a really good number, and 32 is possible, but put a lot of strain for users with average low end dsl connections.

Not sure if sarcasm or hype. :odd:

Oh guys, you all are too much overhyped :D Just calm down. Some posts here make me laugh, like a lot: "The room is dark. To hide the PS4 and it's accessories.", "What if they chose to show the lightbar reflection, and the PS4 sound, and the PS4, and also meant to hide the lightbar on the controller itself, to give us smaaaall hints, like EA did with one NFS pic", "We can't show you anything yet, because we want to polish it more. But here's a confirmation. We're coming. Get ready." really..!? :D

I love reading all this speculations etc., but this is something like sci-fi scenario from stuff you literally creating from nothing :D We all know GT7 is coming, with every new day is closer, we also know PD means to release it before 2017... so with all this informations it is "confirmed" that we will get next GT in 2016. And about the main question "where will we see the first trailer" - from my own opinion, the biggest chance is at the PGW at the end of october. As was already said here, it is the second main Sony conference in this year and it will happen in Europe, which is the biggest market for Gran Turismo. Personally, i wouldn't expect big announcement like GT7 at PSX - its more like summary of the past year with a new things about already announced games. So if the reveal won't happen at PGW, I'm giving big chances to their own event next year (before E3), like it was with GT6.

Apparently hype is contagious...
